“I lost my test subject. They ran off just because my new concoction has a slight risk of burning someone from the inside out. But maybe you can help me test it out~?”
...he hoped that was a joke. waiting for the punchline, he didn’t stray far, but there were obvious steps backwards. you met plenty of creeps in the night and he hardly wanted to be a victim.
“ah...n-no thank you.” no thank you? why was he being polite to a possible threat? “i’m going to have to ask you to leave before...before i call security.”
musebunch:
“I have… But perhaps you can help me instead.”
“if that is the case, i can check the lost and found for you.” sullivan offered quietly. really, he was confused why someone was wandering the halls at this time of night...most people were long gone (hence his preference for night duty). “what was it that you lost?”
“i’m the janitor here...is there something you lost?”

WHILE SHE WAS AWARE THAT HER ACTIONS WERE not exactly proper, that she should have not giggled or at least waited until he did not hear, it had been quite unavoidable. The way his hair was looking was quite amusing, it gave him a rather cute appearance. But it appeared that he did had that issue often from what she could deduce from his words. “.. yes, it is.” Lying would make no sense after she said just giggled over the way his hair looked. “You have my apologizes though it was not nice.” And it did not really sound sincere either, although she did mean it, as Yuna was still giggling over the very appearance he had in that moment. “..have you perhaps tried anything to fix that?”
“...thank you for telling me, nevertheless.” after the initial blush from her giggles, he was offering her a thanks for being honest with him. hat hair was rather embarrassing, so it was nice to know before he strolled around the town with it. It wouldn’t go away, but he could reduce it with a few, forceful run throughs if he knew about it. shyly, his eyes were making their way up to the face of the woman when he thought that he was more presentable. “it is permanent, i have worn my hate for too long is all.” he was to blame for it, indeed. “is it better now, at least?”

Even after casually trying to sway the man from thinking him or his situation; here he still was. That was the most open he’s been to a stranger in a while about his lifestyle. It was a struggle living the way he was, especially trying to take care of his younger brother too. Yet it was all he believed he could do as well, so that he don’t have forced back into another foster program. “I could some more food and some money would be nice–but I got a place to stay, there’s a alley I been staying in a while.” Now that he said that out loud he just thought how unassuring that sounded.
so there was an agreement then? a wave of relief came to him as the child seemed to understand what he was saying. independent or not, there was only so much that you could do at his age. as much as he had disliked being in the foster care, he could be thankful that they provided him his food and care when he was incapable of doing so himself. crouching down so he would not be looking down on the child, he was furrowing his brows gently as the boy continued. there was no judgement though, only concern.
“an alley is not a place to live. fall is coming which means it will be cold.” this was the most that he had spoken too...yet, he was not exhausted like usual. his hand extended. “how about you stay with me for a night? i will feed you and get some money out of the bank for you to have. maybe i have some hand-me-down clothes that will better fit you, too.”

【🍽️】She was nodding in confirmation whenever he seemed to be unsure of what was happening. He seemed to be pretty puzzled by the sudden calling, which was understandable, but Isanami tended to… overlook things like that, so to speak, in order to establish a friendlier holding with strangers. Sometimes it worked… and many times it didn’t. Not that it mattered though, the important thing was that she tried.
❛ Ehh, really? The workers all say the same thing though. ❜ Nibbling away on a croissant while awaiting the end of the current round, Isanami turned her gaze towards the other as he took the offered seat. ❛ They’re always complimenting your ability to take in so much food. Especially for being as small as you are! ❜ Now, of course that wasn’t impactful coming from someone of Isanami’s size as well, but the important thing was that it came from other people’s mouths!
Brushing away the crumbs that clung to the side of her mouth, Isanami reached for another croissant and offered it to the other. ❛ I think you’d do pretty well! Most of the competitors give in after eating so little, it’s such a shame. They have to pay if they can’t finish. ❜ Her definition of ‘little’ was certainly skewed. ❛ If what the others say is true though, then you’d definitely hold your own! You know, the prize is also more food! Isn’t that neat? So long as you finish the challenge within a time limit, you don’t have to pay and you get even more access to food. Sometimes it’s a month, other times it’s a year of supply. It depends on the competition. ❜
Isanami hummed, lightly tapping her chin in thought. ❛ I believe for this one… it was to finish a hundred hamburgers in twenty-five minutes? They’re like the size of my palm, so if you can shovel four in one minute, you’re good to go! ❜
it was nothing personal to her. sullivan simply lacked efficient social skills. his childhood made him prone to avoiding conversations and he only allowed that to exacerbate in his adulthood when he was without family and chose seclusion. he had no one to blame but himself, truthfully. or, at least, that is what he told himself whenever people raised a brow at his lack of speech or pattern of talk. either way, it amounted to the confusion he had now that she was talking so carefree with him...and about him.
the waitresses paid attention to him...what else did they say besides that he could eat a bunch? trifling over it, he was glad that she took his mind from it with her progressing conversation. as if she was wanting to get finished speaking with no interjection, he let her go for as long as she spoke with no interruption.
“one hundred hamburgers is more than i can afford if i lose...” sullivan mumbled. even if he could do it, he felt that the risk was more than the pay off; the last thing he needed was a debt on his credit card, haunting him with the diner’s name on it. in remembrance to his failed gluttony. so why in the world was he half tempted? was it the promise of a year of food paid for? or her convincing skills.
no...no offense, but it was the promise of free food that tempted him.
“i’m still not sure i can pack away that much food. maybe ten, but one hundred...?”

⊰ Ꮗ .Ꮦ . ⊱───── Surprised by the kind offer, William accepted without a second thought. “Certainly, if you wouldn’t mind,” he replied and with a bit of an awkward motion he gestured his agreement with the armful. “Just a few off the top, if you would. Let’s bring them to that table over there.” The blonde motioned with a nod of the head, his hands already preoccupied with the load. Passingly William hoped the young lady would not question his choice of reading; a mix of occultism and science that would have most gossiping. What did a teenager need something like that for?
“yeah, sure. not a problem at all.” courteous and patient, she was standing on her toes for a split second to gather some of the books in her hands, a bit relieved to know that she was helping someone avoid a tumble from over carrying. admittedly, some of her kindness was continuing for the fact that he made her almost...nostalgic. the science titles reminded her of her sibling. occult books though were a bit weird (thank god mason wasn’t into those or she was sure he’d be wearing a tin foil hat by now).
“quite the arrangement of reading you have here.” she prodded in a tone that offered the teensiest bit of interest in them. “you doing research for an undergrad project or something?”
alcortheanguished:
“I thank you for your concern.” It was often that someone worried over him like this, especially someone he didn’t know. Just the thought was making him feel a little better. “However, a doctor that specializes in physical bodies would not be much help to me. My body is not that of a normal human’s.” Alcor looked over this new person. They had quite a presence from their height alone.
his body wasn’t of a normal humans...?
“come now, i doubt that is the case.” he spoke, admittedly perturbed and disliking of even the sound of something incomprehensible to him. his judgement of the stranger continued despite his kindness to him. not a human body, they said, it took him a bit not to roll his eyes at even the thought. “perhaps abnormal, but not different. are you sure nothing is wrong?”

❛ Oh, thank you! ❜ Her gratitude was expressed by the bright grin upon her face, though admittedly it was a bit hard to say whether the thanks was for the compliment or for his offer. Likely, it was both. Though she did not want to trouble a stranger too much, it was also rude to refuse if an offer was given, right? Isanami offered a few bags to him, bowing her head a little in humility. ❛ Yeah, I’m staying with my Onee-chan! Er, well, that’s what it should be like, except I dunno where she’s at right now… ❜ Izanami was even more eccentric than her younger sister, that was for certain.
❛ Oh! I’m Isanami, by the way! Are you one of my neighbors then? ❜
a polite girl indeed. for some reason, those were somewhat fun for him. he liked to see how quickly that kindness would fade when they came to know fear, or in self defense...--he was ahead of himself, however. knowing such, it was corrected. the last thing he wanted was his anticipation spoiling any work there was to be done.
“oh? you have a key at least to get into your room, don’t you?” ai inquired to her bubbly self, continuing to follow her ‘in case she needed any more help’. really, they had passed his door moments ago. “I am ai nakamura, a please to meet you. I live in room 104, if you ever need anything.”
sabuleum:
“ Oh yeah, of course you can. ” He is cute, isn’t he? That’s why he gets away with so much.
“ Heheh, well, it sounds like we might have similar tastes there, so hopefully he’s a hip ol’ bag. Sorta blows my mind to think about the fact that some of the games I grew up playing are considered ‘classics’– albeit, they were already a bit dated then I got to ‘em. ” There’s a fond look on her face as the memories briefly sweep through, before she glances back down to the star of their conversation, “ Five-ish? I rescued him when he was somewhere around a year, but we don’t know exactly how old he is. Still, he’s got some certified Puppy Power, for sure. I bet he’ll be tearing it up well past ten.
You much of a dog fan? Had one yourself, maybe? ”
“far from it. he’s lamer than i’ll get out.” olivia nearly spat without thinking of it, her scoff only caught last minute. sorry...it always happened to slip out whenever she thought of her sibling. all that genius went to waste on that man. what does he do now? nothing but mooch off her and others. anyways--she was giving a soft clear of her throat before offering up a smile again, grinning at the pooch as his eyes made their way over to her. “you don’t look older than me though, so i’m sure they were much before your time. still memories of classics can be cherished no matter the age!”
she felt her heart melting a bit to hear that diddy was a rescue though. unable to help it, a soft ‘aww’ was passing her lips.
“he doesn’t look that old so you must be doing something right! I did have a dog not too long ago; a small pomeranian named chiko. she had to stay with my parents when i moved to the city since i can’t have pets in my apartment, however. i plan to get a bigger place and take her back soon.”
