Despite what a certain someone might think, my last name is not Susan. I know, what a surprise, right?

The name's Daniel Sousa. Not Dan. Not Danny. Not Susan. And most definitely not Danny boy. Preferably, just call me Sousa. Chief Sousa. After all, I am the head of the LA department.

[Mod here! I've not found any active Daniel Sousa blogs on here and I have been craving an rp with him. Here's some basic rules for asks, just as a courtesy.]

1. Please be respectful. Just becuase Sousa is from the forties does not mean it's ok to use slurs. I won't be.

2. The mod is an adult, but that doesn't mean you can get freaky in asks all willy-nilly. Either send a DM, or a different ask for permission.

3. Ocs are more than welcome! I love hearing about characters people create. But please, don't force a relationship upon Sousa. Especially romantic or sexual. Platonic is okay, but ask before assuming that a familial or otherwise relationship is fine.

4. I am under no obligation to answer every ask if I don't want to. Please don't spam me over and over to get me to answer, all that will get you is a big, fat block.

5. I am neither a Dousy or Peggysous shipper, and won't rp either, sorry. Platonic is fine though!

Ok onto some headcanons.

Sousa is bisexual, but doesn't know the word. He'll likely use the terms fairy, queer, or trade to describe homosexual relationships/people, as was typical of the time. This takes places after s2 of Agent Carter but before Agents of SHIELD, since the mod hasn't seen most of AOS.

To Ms. Johnson,

To be honest, when Howard Stark decided he wanted to build a time machine, of all things, I thought he'd finally gone off his rocker. Gamma canons are one thing, but breaking the laws of reality? That's a whole different ballpark entirely. And yet it worked, albeit not in the way he intended. Instead of sending a group of people to the future, he brought the contents of a future store to us. I've taken it upon myself to investigate the strange technology he procured through his time machine (who knows what he would have done if he had been allowed to keep them..)

As it is, I'm surprised the devices work. None of us at the SSR are quite sure what to call them, but they function exceptionally well. It's been a lot of trial and error to get to this point. Figuring out how the 'apps' work was an ordeal.

You seem to be quite skilled at this, perhaps you can share some of your expertise in the matter? It would be greatly appreciated.

Let me first and foremost say, there’s no doubt you made the right call- taking the technology out of Howard’s hands. I certainly would have done exactly the same. And to get it out there before I most likely forgot to mention. Yes, your ask box is as close as it gets to sending a letter.

From what I can understand of the situation so far, the devices which are the ones that found themselves in the hands of you and your people are known as cellphones.

(They as you’ve already discovered and in the plainest of terms, are far more advanced than the home landlines, rotary and or pay phones that you’re used to.)

The last thing I honestly want to do is in anyway come across as blunt or rude- Sir. I think it feels crucial to say that the a majority of the ‘apps’ that you’re struggling to figure out might not be worth the time. Here in the future, the concept of just briefly checking on something it can lead to- a couple minutes, maybe an hour or even more going by when tons of other things could easily have been done in that same amount of time. If you understand what I mean?

However that isn’t to say that, I wouldn’t be more than happy to offer further advice to you should any other questions arise.

Who knows what he might come up with using this more advanced technology. Maybe something innocent, like, say, an instant toaster, or something less so.

I understand perfectly what you mean. From what I've been able to figure out, some of these are meant to be, excuse my bluntness, more addicting than a cigar. Especially, based on what I've seen, this so-called 'social media'. What is the importance of that? Do people not go out and talk to others face-to-face in your time?

I think that the last thing either of us, for the sake of our sanity, should be doing… is considering what it is Howard would or wouldn’t do if he managed to take apart a phone in order to engineer the parts to upgrade something else.

The phone’s calling feature shouldn’t be hard to miss- the icon for it quite literally looks like a phone receiver piece.

Your bluntness has definitely been excused, for your analogy is very appropriate and accurate. The importance of social media- is such a loaded question that even I’m not sure if I have a solid or definitive answer to give.

As for your other question. I personally say that, people do still meet face to face but the more underlying question is does it happen as often as it should- and the answer unfortunately will be different depending on who exactly you ask.

Ah. I can't believe I missed that, although I'm not fully surprised. Sleep deprivation does tend to dull your mind. I really should get more sleep..

Part of me wonders if Stark ever shut down his machine. I can't think of any other reason as to why this is possible. Communication across decades really is something out of a science fiction novel, if I weren't experiencing it firsthand, well, I doubt I'd believe in it.

The day that Stark actually decides to do the sensible thing first in any situation will be like a rainbow in the dark. Also, I feel I might be purely speculating right now but even if he did shut down the machine I don’t know if it would even impact the link of communication in place right now.

While, I can’t say I have had the displeasure of sleep deprivation weighing my shoulders down- because I have no doubt that it is as awful as it’s sounding right now. I do want to ensure that I’m here to talk and listen to just about anything for as long as you need me.

Though on another note, diverting back to your point on social media being seen as an important tool in the lives of many. Given that I’ve had more than plenty of time to consider both sides of the coin I can agree that it is important as it permits people to see the places that others visit, the foods they try… but what gets purposefully ignored is once an image or video ends up online, there’s no easy way to have it deleted from existence.

In any case, I look forward to whenever it is that I might hear from you next.

Indeed, he does tend to explore every alternative route and not the reasonable one. What makes you think the link would be unaffected if his machine were shut down? We don't have the same level of technology as you do, if this cellphone is anything to go off of.

Admittedly, my exhaustion is of no one's fault but my own. Between running the SSR and figuring out this device, I haven't allowed myself to get nearly enough sleep. But thank you for your kind words, I'll keep them in mind.

I can see the benefit to something like social media, but with the permanace of whatever you share, it sounds like a recipe for disaster. People don't like letting things from the past go, and if what you say it true, I shudder to think of the damage done to people's lives.
