Come home
How could such a bright life burn out so easily? Stolen in a blur of car tyres and my screams, When I was handed your collar; the last part of you that could be seen.
Slow steady footsteps back to the house, Where I could completely fall apart, Out of sight of spying eyes, Where I could cry and cry and cry, And rewind that tape to play it again; The day I lost my best friend.
I stroked you through the layers of blankets, I wanted to see your little face one last time, A reality check, or maybe just to say goodbye, But I didn’t, I couldn’t; You wouldn’t have wanted me to see, and the blankets were too tight.
You’ve been my whole world since forever, Now my bed sheets are cold and you should be here, Not in the ground; we should be together Your soft purrs a healing remedy to my heart, But instead I lie here, just like you; torn apart.
It’s been just a day but I already feel so alone, Waiting; I’ll always be waiting-
for you to come home.
I miss our little ball of fluff so much- it's so unfair... One last cuddle...just one. ❤️💛💚💙💜 love you Mollie x And love this poem sis x
