[Spoilers for tma episode 067 -Burning Desire]
Haha, episode six sev- *gunshots*
I'm guessing this is gonna involve fire.
"Statement of Jack Barnabas regarding a short-lived courtship with Agnes Montague in the autumn of 2006." WHAT
We're gonna learn more about Agnes! Also, autumn 2006... she died on the 23d of November 2006. That's why the courtship was short-lived, I guess.
This is going to be interesting...
"I mean, there was no way I could have known she wasn't human. At least, I don't see how she can have been human, not the way we think of it." She was human, I'm not surprised... but what was she, then? A spider, like Raymond Fielding? Or something else?
She had auburn hair? But wasn't she described as having brown hair in previous episodes?
"I'm getting used to people making polite excuses not to look at me." Aw, poor guy, that's sad to hear :(
"Dalia tried to warn me off." Well, she probably wasn't wrong.
"I asked for more details and Dalia just shrugged, said that she'd been coming into the cafe since it opened and that there was something off. At the time I assumed that she meant Agnes had been coming in ever since she was a child as she looked my age, but looking back I'm not so sure."
Wait... I remember that when she died, her age given was 26 which means she must have been born in 1980. But what happened on Hill Top Road was during the 60s, so it doesn't match up. That was already mentioned in episode 008, Burned Out. This detail is gonna be important I guess...
She orders coffee but never drinks it? And the coffee stays hot even after an hour???That's strange...
Some guy is trying to talk to her, this isn't gonna end well.
"He walked over and started saying something or other, cocktails as anything. Agnes, though I didn't know her name back then, just looked up and met his eyes and I could see him start to falter. Sweat began to roll down his forehead, but he kept talking. Then Agnes went to stand up. It was only a very small movement, but the man started as though a gun had gone off, knocking into the table and spilling coffee all over his hand." GIRL, TEACH US
Oh, now she is talking with a woman with a back tattoo of "what looked to be a man wreathed in the fires of hell."
"She was talking about some sort of job and whether Agnes was going to be able to do it." What kind of job?
"At first, I thought it was a job interview and then she started talking about Agnes being released from something." From what???
What wasn't she released from???
Aww, he asked her out on a date and she said yes!
That's sweet, and but that's gonna be, at the very least, tragic.
And she went to find him at his house though they hadn't made any actual arrangements. Alright.
"She asked if I was ready to go. I was very much not." Lol
"I looked up and noticed that in the corner of the room, where there had been a spider's web this morning, there was just a faint wisp of smoke."
Well, she clearly have some sort of fire power or something. Or she's linked to fire, something like that. And she uses it to keep spiders at bay. Which would explain why Raymond Fielding was scared of her.
Awww, a walk though the park for the first date, that's cute.
"She asked me if I had a destiny." Now that's an interesting question.
If she asked that, it means that she has a destiny that she's aware of. And it sounds like it's a burden. I wonder what weights on her shoulders...
They had several dates...
She doesn't eat at all, that's very suspicious...
"The last date was November the 23rd, 2006." NOOOO THAT'S THE DAY SHE DIED
I wonder who she called...
"She said something about a tree falling and that they had to finish something."
The tree from Burned Out! Who is/are "they", though??
He brought her back to her flat, that's nice but that's sad to think it's the last time he saw her :(
Why is there a group of people???
There's a guy holding an unlit lantern, that's so weird...
AND SOMEONE HOLDING A BAG OF CANDLES, AND SOMEONE ELSE A PLASTIC CONTAINER FULL OF SPIDERS???
WHAT KIND OF RITUAL ARE THEY PLANNING????
"Agnes turned to me and apologised. Told me goodbye and thank you." :(
Oh, are they gonna kiss???
Wow. That's not exactly romantic.
Oh, so that's why people avoid to look at him. Cause he got severely burnt on his face.
Well, that was a sad story :(
Yeah, all of this is probably linked to that cult, the lightless flame...
She didn't seem to age, yeah... I wonder why though...
Oh, conversation between Jon and Elias!
Are they talking about the tunnels?
"You told me you wandered around in the dark for hours at a time, shortly after suffering an incredibly traumatic experience." Well, look at that, it almost sounds like Elias cares. Almost.
"So, you're saying I imagined it?"
HE'S GASLIGHTING HIM. YOU STOP THAT RIGHT NOW, ELIAS.
"The other possibility is that there's something very dangerous down there. Neither makes me particularly inclined to unlock it."
WELL, ISN'T THAT CONVENIENT???
HE'S THE ONLY PERSON WITH THE KEY TO THE TUNNELS, BY THE WAY, THAT IS EXTREMELY SUSPICIOUS ON ITS OWN!
Wait... what if the key that was with Gertrude's laptop was also a key to open the trapdoor that leads to the tunnels? We still don't know what this key opens, after all.
"So what do you plan to do about it? Send someone else?"
"We really don't have the budget for that."
THE BUDGET??? THE BUDGET?????
ELIAS, ARE YOU KIDDING ME
If it was only a matter of budget, you could just ask the Lukas for more money or something.
"So nothing. You're just going to leave it."
"For now, I think that's for the best." YEAH, FOR YOU!
"So either give me the key or find a new Archivist." Oh, I like the bluff. Cause you know you can't actually quit, Jon. But I like the audacity.
"You know how hard it would be to replace you." That's the only thing he cares about, that it would be an inconvenience for him. You could at least pretend, Elias.
"I... I don't, actually. But thank you, I suppose." JON, ENOUGH WITH THE SELF DEPRECIATION. YOU ARE WORTHY. YOU AREN'T EASILY REPLACEABLE. YOU HAVE YOUR FLAWS, BUT IT DOESN'T MAKE YOU REPLACEABLE.
Oh, Elias actually agreed to give him a copy of the key? That's surprising.
And he told him to get some sleep, lol
Well... that was something. I feel bad for Agnes, she didn't want that destiny, the whole thing with the fire... she probably just wanted a normal life. Was she chosen to be the vessel of some fire entity or something?
I still don't understand everything about her, but she's a very interesting character.
I was thinking... Yeah, fire against spiders, it works just fine. But it reminds me of the lighter that Jon got in episode 036. The lighter with a spider web design on it...
And Jon will have a key to the tunnels soon. Which means he will go back there. And get himself in trouble. I hope he will at least warn at the very least one person when he will do so. So that they know where to check if he disappears.
It's a bit weird that Elias accepted so quick, though. He's often like "well, alright, I agree to give you a little bit of help" with Jon. Is it just because he doesn't wanna be bothered to find another Archivist, or is there another reason? He's suspicious anyway. He's probably gonna have the time that there's no clue or anything in the tunnels by the time Jon gets there. He's planning something... Did I ever mention I don't trust this man?
I can feel that the next episode is gonna be eventful.
By the way, maybe I'm gonna get a tape recorder tomorrow! My mom had one when she was younger, and we're going to my late grandmother's house tomorrow to check if it's still in her childhood bedroom! :)
