thirteen’s era appreciation: 149/?
Your time is over, my love
“Of course we can go back in time! That’s what I have a time machine for!” he mocked her, swinging their joined hands back and forth in a childish manner. “So… How far back do you wanna go? We could meet Darwin! Oh, I bet he’d be an interesting person to talk to!”
Clara chuckled in response, mockingly rolling her eyes. “Wow, I didn’t know that,” she teased, offering another smile. “And I want to go before Darwin even discovered it. See it all when none of it was ever really touched. I think that would be great, don’t you?” And it’ll be less people for me to worry about, she thought.
The Doctor nodded his agreement, opening the TARDIS door with a click of his fingers and making a gesture that indicated Clara should go in first.
“As you wish, boss”, he replied, happily. “Just the two of us, then. Let’s see the wilderness!”
The Doctor’s face looked like a child’s on Christmas morning as he glanced from the photos on the book to Clara’s smile.
“Brilliant!” he answered. “I haven’t been there in ages… Well, that’s probably because a shape-shifter disguised as a shark tried to kill me, but it’s about time I get over it. Let’s go!”
He held out a hand and eyed Clara with expectation.
Clara giggled quietly at his reaction, her nose crinkling as he mentioned the shapeshifter. She doubted that she even wanted to know that story. After all, his stories always seemed so complicated.
“Good! And shall we go a bit back in time too? I heard there’s towns there now. I’d rather see it all without tourist traps,” she chuckled before her eyes glided down to his hand. She pressed her lips together and ensured her barriers were up. She didn’t want to know anything about him that he didn’t want to tell. Carefully, she took his hand and smiled up at him once more. “Let’s go.”
“Of course we can go back in time! That’s what I have a time machine for!” he mocked her, swinging their joined hands back and forth in a childish manner. “So... How far back do you wanna go? We could meet Darwin! Oh, I bet he’d be an interesting person to talk to!”
“Twenty seven…” Clara repeated, opening the book before she flicked to the right page. A few photos were glued to the page, the name in decorated letters.
She looked over his shoulder at him, a light smile still on her face. “How do the Galapagos islands sound?”
The Doctor’s face looked like a child’s on Christmas morning as he glanced from the photos on the book to Clara’s smile.
“Brilliant!” he answered. “I haven’t been there in ages... Well, that’s probably because a shape-shifter disguised as a shark tried to kill me, but it’s about time I get over it. Let’s go!”
He held out a hand and eyed Clara with expectation.
The Doctor let a wide smile spread through his face and shrugged.
“You know I would”, he replied happily, awkwardly stopping himself from leaning forwards and hugging her. He didn’t want to make her even more uncomfortable. “Now! Where do you wanna go today? I know an empty planet where you could practice all day long! Or, y’know, we could always chase some Daleks… Or we could just have a nice day off eating chips. Your choice.”
At his apparent return to his usual cheerful self, Clara let a somewhat fond smile curve her lip, brown eyes flitting down momentarily while she thought.
“How about we go somewhere fun?” She eventually asked, looking up at him before she headed into her bedroom. She was quick to return with her 101 Places to See book and held it up slightly. Perhaps this was part of the remedy; she hadn’t exactly found out what she did when she was happy yet. “Pick a number.”
The Doctor laughed fondly and thought for a second.
“Great idea! Hm... 27″, he replied, stading behind her and looking over her shoulder to see the book.
“Oh, come on! I’ve been face-to-face with hundreds of Daleks at once and I’m still in one piece! If that doesn’t make me almost indestructible, I don’t know what does!” he teased her, putting his hands in his pockets. Then he sighed, turning serious again. “Come on… Let me stick around… Please… Please, Clara.”
“But this isn’t a villain or a monster. It’s just…dangerous. Things can be dangerous without meaning to be…Especially when you’re not careful,” Clara pointed out, her voice light even though her words were weighed down with her worries. A little sigh left her lips; she wanted him to stay, but only thought the worst would happen if he did. She knew all the answers to the questions she wanted to ask, and that frustrated her enough. Still, she knew. She knew…”Well, you might as well. You’d do so even if I said no, wouldn’t you?”
Or, y’know, we could always chase some Daleks... Or we could just have a nice day off eating chips. Your choice.”
The Doctor smiled kindly and took a step towards her, reaching for her hand.
“Well, I’m pretty hard to hurt”, he said. “And I know you’d never hurt me. So, what do you say we work together in helping you get control of your amazing powers?”
“Who said I’d hurt you on purpose?” Clara challenged quietly, her brown eyes trailing to his hand before she folded her arms. She really didn’t like showing her emotions, but that was currently getting harder to do.
“I’ve already tried a few things…It doesn’t help, and you really shouldn’t be so sure of being hard to hurt, y’know.”
“Oh, come on! I’ve been face-to-face with hundreds of Daleks at once and I’m still in one piece! If that doesn’t make me almost indestructible, I don’t know what does!” he teased her, putting his hands in his pockets. Then he sighed, turning serious again. “Come on... Let me stick around... Please... Please, Clara.”
The Doctor followed her into the kitchen and leaned against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest.
“Clara”, he said, in a low voice, watching her intently. “I’m never going to leave you. Please, let me help.”
“How can you help with this?” She asked in a sigh, looking at him before she gestured to the most recently burst lamp.
“When I get angry, I make lights explode. When I’m upset the tap starts running itself and that’s just the start of it. I’m going to end up hurting you.”
The Doctor smiled kindly and took a step towards her, reaching for her hand.
“Well, I’m pretty hard to hurt”, he said. “And I know you’d never hurt me. So, what do you say we work together in helping you get control of your amazing powers?”
“I’m not going anywhere. I don’t even know why you’re still trying, because it’s not gonna work.”
“You don’t understand! You have to get away!” Clara shouted, flinching as sparks flew from the light nearby.
Taking in a deep breath, she sighed, making her way to her kitchen to get out another light bulb. She’d fix it later, she supposed…
The Doctor followed her into the kitchen and leaned against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest.
“Clara”, he said, in a low voice, watching her intently. “I’m never going to leave you. Please, let me help.”
“You need to keep away from me…I’ll only end up hurting you.”
“I’m not going anywhere. I don’t even know why you’re still trying, because it’s not gonna work.”

”You are being a pest now run along.”
“Now, that’s just not very polite, is it?”
//I’d like to apologize to everyone for disappearing. These last few months have been pretty rough and I had to get away for a while to try and cope with everything that was happening in my life. I’m good now, though... And I’m slowly coming back. So, yeah, I’m sorry. I hope you guys are all safe and fine. (://
“Well, I was under the impression that you were me, but I could be wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time.”
Eleven looked over his younger self. This was not the first time that he had met this particular version of himself. “I might have been at one time. Now I am not so sure.”
“Come on, now, don’t say that…”, the tenth Doctor said, his face turning unusually serious. The expression on the other’s face made him worry about his own future. “I can see in your eyes that you’re still the Doctor.”
Eleven shrugged. “It has been centuries since I have been you. A lot has changed. Some things not for the better. Where are you in our time line?” He could tell the other was young just how long he was not sure.
“I -”, his voice broke and he looked away, trying not to let it get to him. He was not in a very good place himself. “I’m travelling alone. Rose’s gone with my - sorry, our human biological metacrisis... Donna doesn’t know who we are... Not a very bright point in our timeline, if you ask me.”
So,
if I ever:
Drop an RP without notice
Say ‘yes let’s RP!’ and then quit answering
Say I’ll post a starter and then don’t
Don’t respond to your starter
It’s because I forgot.
It’s because I forgot.
NEVER FEEL BAD ABOUT REMINDING ME.
//Plus, I really wanted to apologize about how I went missing without saying a thing. Things just got really complicated in my life all at once and I needed a bit of time to get myself together. I’m really sorry, guys. I’m better now and I’m slowly coming back. Hope you’re all still there.//
