Sparkles #12 - No Pun Intended

i really like what i did with json's lettering in this one. it takes forever to do, but it feels so much like it could just be his handwriting, in a way that the other characters' lettering doesn't really. the other characters' lettering is just too close to my own natural handwriting for me to really see it as particularly separate, you know?

okay, i mean, like, json's lettering is probably the closest in appearance to my current handwriting, but in terms of the underlying movements and shapes and the way they're conceptualized, it's very different. what i'm saying is it doesn't read to me like it's just a variation on my handwriting unless they're right next to each other.

which they are in this strip, but that's neither here nor there.

Sparkles #11 - Characters' Opinions do not Reflect My Own

if the lettering seems large in this one, that's because it is. i finally made a template for me to do the lettering with, but it's slightly larger than i normally do the lettering. i think i need to scale the template down a little.

template's not quite the right word, but that doesn't really matter. at least the text is more legible than in the previous strip.

what? go back and change said previous strip?

Sparkles #10 - For Mr. Phone

lotta changes in this strip. from the addition of the series name (or at least its truncation) in the corner, to the change of brush, to a complete misremembering of what everyone's lettering looks like. oh yeah, and i also finally establish that this is a library in the actual comic, lol.

not sure how i feel about the new brush. i use it in the next few strips, but i can't say whether it'll stick around or not after that.

"nalnl" is supposed to be a play on NEET 'cause i think the way people use neet as a noun is really funny, but it kinda sounds like i'm calling sparkles a slur.

i checked and nalnl isn't a slur, but just in case, i'm explaining the title anyway.
