they should make a version of project hail mary where grace is played by lee pace and instead of a spaceship it takes place in a pie shop and instead of having to save the earth he solves murders with the power to bring the dead back to life with a single touch

saddest film moment of the year is that i kind of liked one night only a little better than oak street

#oak street did have the single most “oh my god what the fuck” moment in film this year so that's something #i see why people were calling it “mean amblin”

Just a thought experiment: would artists whose art was informed by their severe mental illness, drug addiction, death of loved ones, etc. still be able to make good art if they didn't have those tragedies or vices? Personally I don't think so, but I'd like to hear your hearts

harry gold show's digital circus designs are cute and fun but i feel like he's usually way more keyed in to the intended style of stuff than he is in that one

#there's a feeling that the style of early cgi being referenced is a bit of a blind spot #he doesn't seem to pick up on it and opts for largely 90s console platformer #under the impression that there was a failure to evoke that style in the first place #disappointing as the windows cd rom/early pixar thing it errs towards is an art style/era of animation i find very interesting #and one thats getting more prominent in indie animation #would have liked to see him pick at that in the way he usually does with other styles

Can you name one movie this year better than PHM?

out of what i saw this year I personally enjoyed backrooms, they will kill you, hoppers, obsession, iron lung, good luck have fun don't die, the drama, the sheep detectives, the digital circus, bugonia, gail daughtry and the celebrity sex pass, and I love boosters more

#again i liked phm but kind of in the mid range of stuff i liked this year #exit 8 and Leviticus are ones i thought were good but which are kind of on the same line as phm to me #i could see myself liking them more or less depending on my mood

deleted project hail mary posts because you guys i simply cannot bring myself to care about project hail mary that much

#my big opinion on it is i think its interesting how its the same movie as spaceman with adam sandler #but both feel like the exact opposite things tonally
