I… actually made peace with losing those friends faster than I thought. I’m still angry, mind you, but the grief is gone? My wife and I were both hit with this at the same time, and she feels the same. Honestly? We think it’s for the best, because they treated us like utter shit. Unbelievable. He really had some damn nerve, intruding on her business and then standing there insisting that he was gonna protect her! She didn't need it, or want it! What she wanted was to be left alone, and to get to have some fucking fun for once without anyone, including him & her parents, breathing down her neck.

The princess huffs as she glares up at Zeb, arms crossing over her chest. She wasn't gonna let him keep doing that, so help her.

⠀ ⠀ ⠀Zeb couldn’t help the way his eyes rolled at her protests. She was such a child, a brat even, about this whole ordeal. He understood her frustration, but being her personal body guard wasn’t his idea in the first place. That was a conversation she would have to have with the king and queen. ❝ Sorry, Your Highness, but was the king and queen, your parents, who decided you needed someone to protect you. Not me. ❞

⠀ ⠀ ⠀Unfortunately for everyone involved, they had a good reason for it, too. The warrior sighs in frustration with one hand flying to his forehead in annoyance. Still, he tried to reason with her. ❝ They just don’t want to lose you. That so hard to understand? You’re the only child they have left. You gotta consider their side of all this... ❞

⠀ ⠀ ⠀One breath in, another out. ❝ Look, I don’t plan on hoverin’ over your shoulder every second. But I will be keeping watch. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀Oh karabast, this woman was a real piece of work. He was beginning to understand why the princess was hated the way she was. Zeb's hands tightened into fists with a snarl. If she WASN'T the princess and he wasn't trusted to protect her he would have punched that smirk right off her face. ❝ I didn't ask to be here either, yet here we are. Stuck with each other. ❞

Edana hadn't even realized she had smiled at all; at least not in a way that wasn't mocking or mischievous. Was that supposed to be a compliment? An insult? Maybe just an observation. In any case, it had caught her off guard. Her ear flicks slightly, a slight sniff coming from the princess as she debates her reply. Maybe at one time, she could find something sarcastic to retort with, but things were different. She was different.

❝ Mm. Well... ❞ She hesitates for a moment, giving a small shrug. No use denying things the way they had been. ❝ Guess it's been a while since I've had anything to smile about. Not a bad thing, though, is it? ❞

⠀ ⠀ ⠀In truth, Zeb knew she was right. Princess Edana had been through so much before now. The loss of her brother, subjects who wanted her family dead ( and had almost killed her ), being kept like a prisoner in her own home, and a burned relationship with her parents. It must have felt like eons since she was happy. Or at least felt like she was able to smile for any reason.

⠀ ⠀ ⠀❝ Never said it was. ❞ He replied softly. He reaches for her hand and wraps his larger one around it. The hold was soft, like how you would hold something so fragile it could break in a moment. ❝ But for what its worth, I like seeing you smile. Looks good on ya. ❞

⠀ ⠀ ⠀One of his own ears twitched and his eyes averted away from their hands. Things were certainly changing. Edana seemed different now. Zeb felt a little different, too. Maybe it was a change for the better? Either way he knew he'd find out soon enough.

So funny actually that Zeb is considered in canon to be attractive, and since he was Honor Guard captain, also sort of famous among lasat, but hangs out with a bunch of random Rebels doing manual labor, first response and charity work.

Imagine you're a Lasan native just getting their bearings in the Outer Rim. You start to feel faint and collapse only to experience the lasat equivalent of Chris Hemsworth bursting out of the woods to save you.

Read a x reader fic that I stumbled upon by accident last night, and it really scratched an itch in my brain so I want threads with it.

Scenario: Your muse and Zeb are on a mission together when he gets badly injured by the enemy. Your muse needs to bring him to a safe space where they try to call for help. While waiting, your muse’s feelings for Zeb start to come out which leads to soft interactions while they watch over and protect him until help arrives.
