So …. that went terribly. As a reminder of how brilliantly thought out it was, she landed face first upon the ground as well. It takes her a moment to register where she was before his stupid voice answered it for her. From the ground, her head rose, with her face filled with anger. What else? Oh right, yelling.

“ You are no fun ! ” As quickly as she began to stand up, her mechanical caretaker assistant sped in to help the rest of the way. She dusted off her skirt, patted Scrambles quickly on the head then focused her attention back on the hedgehog. “ You were SUPPOSED to be the gift !! It’s not just your birthday, you know. Gosh. ”

She moved to lean lazily on the little Silver Sonic, grumbling with crossed arms staring through her glasses. “ You want a birthday present? If you beat Scrambles here, I’ll leave you alone for a whole month. You ruined my mood. ”

There was always something satisfying about watching the infuriation that came whenever Sonic ruined the fun of that doctor or his beloved niece. Giving her all the space she needed as she pulled herself up and dusted herself off - he was a nice guy, after all - he simply watches her infuriation with a smirk

“ Ooh, yeah, that’s right! Eggy does have my birthday, doesn’t he? Thanks for reminding me. ” Annoying as it was, it also very convenient for Sonic’s personal satisfaction. Not that Sonic would know himself, but he figured there must be some extra infuriation in losing for his mad scientist opponent when it happens on his birthday. “ In that case, I’m glad you’re here! His birthday present can be seein’ you come back with a thrashed robot and whining about losing to that pesky little hedgehog again. ”

Giving a few jumps in preparation for the acrobatics he was gonna need to do for this one. “ Still, if you’re offerin’ me a whole month of alone time if I win? I could do without seeing your face for a while... Tell ya what - if you give me that month after all, I’ll let ya tell your Uncle you landed some hits on me. His birthday gift can be him being kinda proud of ya or whatever. ”

Not so Happy Birthday ...? Apparently her main strategy to terrorize Sonic this time was to full out tackle him. Or attempt to. Because what wouldn't be a better birthday present for her Uncle than a captured hedgehog?

A valiant effort, Eggette - but unfortunately, Sonic’s already been keeping his ears open for a certain someone who’d want to surprise him for birthday wishes. His ears twitching at the sound of Eggette moving to lunge toward Sonic, he wastes no time pushing himself just far enough to get out of lunging distance just in the nick of time. In fact, he overshot it a little, the girl he was worried about was one to tackle a little faster than this one.

He’s briefly surprised seeing Eggette sprawled out where he’d prepared for a certain other girl to show up, but that quickly turns to a cocky grin as he turns back to her.

“ ... Well now, of all the people I was expecting a little birthday wish from, I didn’t think you’d show up. Finally had a change of heart? ” Of course, Sonic was fully aware why she would make her way to him, and all props to her for catching him while he wasn’t running. But as always, he was gonna have his own fun with this. “ Come on now, what’d my favorite gremlin get me? Rings? A new punching bag of yours to thrash? Chili dogs? I’ll totally take chili dogs! ”
