“Understatement of the year.” She said, shaking her head. Had it been anyone else, that tinder boy would have been either ditched or slapped to say the least. When she got a maybe, she raised her eyebrows as she smiled at her happily. Knowing that it was probably best to put it at rest. She had enough talk about dates for one night. Stella pursed her lips as she looked at Courtney, waiting for a reaction. “Chad Michael Murray is amazing.” She protested as Courtney laughed. Stella laughed a bit with Courtney, “It’s so iconic, i mean; waiting for you is like waiting for rain in this drought. useless and disappointing.” She said, with dramatic effect. “If I ever have the notebook playing, please come and help me because it means that I probably reached rock bottom.” She admitted to the red head. Stella sprawled herself like a starfish, opening her arms and legs to take up all the space. “Hell no.” She said, before laughing and putting her feet on the couch as she scooted over. “It’s literally your house. You could literally kick me out. Of course you can sit here, loser.” She teased her as she put her legs to her chest to make more room for Courtney. “Do you want me to re-start the movie?”

Maybe Courtney had been on so many of these type of dates that her patience had developed along the way, but it could only go so far and she felt like this was the last time or else she would explode. Shaking her head with a laugh as the dark haired girl spoke Courtney knew that this was what she needed, some time to just not think about anything at all. “Don’t worry I’ll come save you, if not for your own good but so that I won’t have to watch it either.” While she did love a good chick flick there were some that were too depressing for words and the notebook to her was one of them. Courtney knew it was her home obviously, but considering Stella had been there most of the evening she wasn’t going to kick her out of her space so she could sit there. “Yeah I’m hardly going to tell you to get out now am I?” The place would be lonely without her. Settling over beside the other girl she gave her head a quick nod, “if it’s not too far in to it? I mean I’ve seen it before so it’s no big deal”, she added with a slight shrug.

it was that time of the year again, registration. courtney had spent a considerable chunk of the morning sat across from a middle aged woman going through her payments and semester subject choices, even though it could just as easily been done online or over the phone. now posed at an empty space in the university library the red head decided to skip out for a little bit to grab something to eat in one of the few vending machines dotted around campus. having only arrived the day before chances of food being in her apartment was slim to none. in the midst of tugging some change out of her purse she unknowingly brushed shoulders with someone else, not bothering to look up until a loud huff made her head snap upwards. “oh sorry, did i bump in to you?”

“olivia! olivia! please can we get a photo!” head ducked as far as it could go without actually tumbling over olivia jones taylor rushed from her car toward the doors of the bar. the family lawyer had suggested staying away from the city as a result of the information coming out and she had, until it became too much for her to bare being away. letting reporters chase her away for something she didn’t do or choose: being adopted. if it wasn’t bad enough news learning her parents weren’t actually her biological parents it was ten times worse realising her ‘real’ parents were in in jail, for life. adopted at three she had little memories of the two of them, or her life. or maybe she blocked them out, going back there confused her too much. she had made sure to avoid her usual high end bars for one recently opened since she had been away, although it was still typical of her standards but how did they know where she was going? exhaling as the doors closed the blonde felt bad for the customers inside having to deal with the muffled shouts but thankfully none came inside. “vodka and cherry please.” dropping her bag to the ground the socialite groaned inwardly, nails tapping anxiously against the bar in the meantime.

Stella hadn’t even thought of that, she furrowed her eyebrows as she looked at Court. “Yeah, how the hell did you manage that? I’m surprised you didn’t just up and leave.” Honestly, that’s probably what a lot of people would have done. Stella smiled softly, “You should set up a double date where you make him pay and you talk about all your problems. Seems only fair.” Sh tried, a little payback for a horrible night wasn’t the worst thing. Stella smiled, “I’ll make sure he pays.” She assured her. She had a couple of guys in mind although Stella was protective of Court. She’d probably harass her friends before actually letting them go on a date with her. I mean, it’s what a good friend would do and Stella was about that. Stella pursed her lips, “Well, I started off with Luke Cage cause the Defenders is coming out. I know, I’m a nerd. But then I started to feel sappy and well… don’t judge, but Cinderella story.” She said, the movie title almost under her breath.

“I guess if nothing all of those dates gave me some extra patience”, laughing the red head decided attempting to take a positive spin on it was the best form of action. “Hm maybe”, the idea of a double date didn’t seem near as bad as going on another one by herself. The worst thing was the waiting and then of course when they didn’t hit it off things went downhill too. Really she wasn’t sure she could win. “Cinderella Story?”, the red head repeated before laughing and shaking her head, “nah it’s not sappy...not really, if you had of said the Notebook then I would have agreed but this is a little lower on the rankings I think.” And right now the one thing Courtney wanted to do was just relax, forget the night had ever happened and like she had done with the rest of them just move on. “So you think there’s room over there for me to sit?”, she questioned with a smile, it was no fun watching on separate seats, how could she annoy her then if she got bored?

humming to the music from her headphones,as wiped down the emptied tables of the diner. it was deafeningly loud,so of course she couldn’t hear the chef calling her from the behind the counter until he was directly in her face. “oh shit.” she mumbled,as he barked orders at her. ripping the happiness from her ears,and stuffing them into her work attire.finishing up her last duty. and racing across for the coffee pot. aiding each customer with their wishes. until she reached him,the male at the end of diner in a solitary booth. sheets spread across it like an office desk. “hey darling.” the femme began. “would you like anything else? or are you just solely black coffee drinker?” she quipped in a cheerful manner,his day looked as if it needed a little brighten in their day. “maybe some fries,or a burger. maybe it could help the bitter taste?”

gabriel had hoped the diner would serve as a change from his office, spacious as it was seeing the same four walls for the amount of hours he had would drive even the sanest man over the edge. it was just as he hoped it would be, quiet and with little to no distractions. the human interactions were still there, just minimal and the chance of making small talk was slim to none. glancing upward as the woman spoke he gave his head a slight shake, although checking the time on his watch before opening his mouth to reply. “and how do you know i don’t like the coffee for the bitter taste?”, he commented before laughing although it was perfectly true. “but i could do with some fries actually.” he couldn’t remember the last time he had eaten something other than an energy bar since that morning. maybe going to the diner had been beneficial for his health too.

Stella was actually excited to hear about how Courtney’s date had gone. She had honestly been relaxing at her place because the thought of being in another hotel was killing her. She was in the middle of watching an episode on netflix when the door open. Her eyes darted towards the red head as she was about to start talking, but before she could, Courtney put her hand up. “Oh come on, don’t say that.” Stella said, huffing out. She really thought that this date was going to go well for Court. Stella opened her mouth and shook her head, “Are you kidding me? That’s just fucked up.” She huffed out as she watched her friend sit down. “I’ve got a couple guys I could probably set you up with if you really wanted me to.” She said, trying to make her feel a tad bit better. “Or maybe switch it up, start dating more girls?” She tried. Not that Stella was the queen of dating, it was clearly quite the opposite.

Courtney usually could humour herself with how badly things had gone but at this stage it was becoming a joke and not a funny one. Exhaling loudly the red head turned slowly to look at the other girl, “if you were there you would probably agree with me, or better wonder how I had managed to stay for as long as I did.” It was a wonder she hadn’t walked out the first chance she got. But she did appreciate Stella trying to put a positive spin on it. “Tell me about it, made me pay and listen to that crap it was like torture---pretty sure I could sue for that kind of thing.” Giving her eyes yet another roll Courtney tried not to grimace at the offer to be set up, sure it was a nice thing to do but right now she couldn’t bare the thought of another. “Maybe....maybe then we can share the food cost”, she remarked teasingly, but maybe it was time to start dating girls see where that got her. It would without a doubt be better than with guys and she had some experience with girls, not a lot, but some. “So what are you watching then?”, kicking off her shoes Courtney just wanted to put the whole mess behind her.

“Give me one good reason not have you killed right here.” It certainly wouldn’t be the first time blood stained the floor in Savera’s office. It was why she’d quickly replaced the carpet with hardwood upon their location change. There was nothing Savera liked less than visitors. The less people who placed her, the local District Attorney, as the representative head of the Spencer business empire and all of their criminal activity, the better. But she certainly didn’t ignore her problems either and this one was sitting in the chair on the other side of her desk. Setting her pen down beside her notes and closing the top of her laptop, Savera stood up and crossed around her desk, one hand still resting on top of it. “I don’t help people. I don’t believe in second chances, And I’ve never found mercy completely necessary when it comes to business. What makes you think you’re any different?”

Olivia had been anxious about this from the moment she had gotten the woman’s name. Of course she had googled her the second she could and what she found wasn’t as straight forward as she hoped. Clearing her throat the blonde shuffled slightly, rolling her shoulders back as the woman stood. “I was told that you might be able to help me”, she stated slowly, it was a shot in the dark but if Olivia wanted to know whether her ‘real’ parents were in prison for murders they actually did commit. Even thinking of them as her parents sat awkwardly with her, but they were. While a large chunk of her wanted to pretend they didn’t exist and go back to her normal life of parties and volunteer work she knew settling would never come easy, not until she knew for sure. “I mean---you could at least look in to their files, maybe? Their names are Eden and James Armstrong”, she was sure the blonde had heard of them at some point in her life, almost everyone who was old enough had. “Or let me know of a lawyer or someone who could”, she added hastily, careful not to over step the mark with her.

Pushing open the door Courtney raised a hand before either could say anything, “don’t even ask. It was a complete waste of my time and I’ve decided dating isn’t for me, ever.” She should have known meeting up with someone she had matched with on tinder would be a recipe for disaster especially considering how the last handful had gone but this one had by far been the worst and to top it all off she ended up paying for the food. Dropping her bag to the floor she shrugged her jacket off, groaning and running a hand through her hair. “I mean, he made me pay for the food first off and then talked about his ex for the whole thing?!” Rolling her eyes at her bad luck she finally sat down, defeated.

More times than most Gabriel was holed up in his office until well past the time deemed appropriate for anyone to be working during the week. But a rare occurrence of him wanting to be away from his quiet office had ended up with him three miles away in a diner, with his files in front of him. While he wasn’t at hard as work as he had been thirty minutes previously the man’s eyes continuously moved over the client’s pages, strong cup of coffee settled in one hand as another quickly scribbled notes on the side of the page. Slacking was something he had never done, if he did it would instantly be followed by an overwhelming feeling of guilt and he would much rather the work than guilt. Before he knew it the cup was empty save the darkened splotches at the bottom, eyes tearing away from the page to examine it before resting it on the side of the table, ready and waiting for a refill.
