đCharacters I Write:
At the moment, I only write for Yes Man from Fallout New Vegas. This will only include his robot form, I don't want to write human AU or synth body AU or anything like that for him. This could be expanded in the future so be sure to check this before submitting anything.
đč𧥠Just as a side note, feel free to send multiple asks even if you've already sent one and I haven't answered it yet! I don't mind at all, I like having a lot to choose from depending on my energy levels and the time I have! đčđ§Ą
Love your works! Could you do nsfw but itâs also fluff where the courier and Yes Man are both kinda awkward/shy?
Thanks for the ask! I might turn this into a full fic, I'm still waiting on an invite from AO3, but I wrote this little bit for now :)
đ»Â NSFW Shy/Awkward Yes Man x Shy/Awkward Courier
Confessing their feelings to Yes Man was pretty easy, in the grand scheme of things. He had already guessed that the courier felt attracted towards him based on physical responses that he could detect in the courier (increased heart rate whenever Yes Man spoke to them, pupils dilating, slight flush in face)
Trying to do anything physical was difficult, to say the least
Turning any physical affection into some grand, romantic gesture nauseated themâ it was like performing on a stage. Reading romantic novels that Mr. House had stored in his computer memory didnât help at all. The courier didnât feel like they could just waltz up to Yes Man and say âHey, um, Iâd like to kiss youâ because that, too, would feel like a performance, and if they didnât perform well, theyâd probably hurl immediately.
Yes Man was nervous with initiating any type of physical affection as well. He wasnât aware of all of the courierâs boundaries and would feel so horrible if he accidentally crossed a boundary. Logically, he knew that these things happen and they would have a conversation about it and the conflict would be resolved. Theyâd come out as a stronger couple afterward! But he still couldnât even think about being in that situation. It threw his code into a tizzy and almost made him freeze up entirely.
The solution was simple: The courier would have to initiate most things and take the lead and hope that Yes Man would follow. Easy, right?
One day, the courier walks up to Yes Man and makes small talk. If Yes Man is aware that the courier is going to do something, heâll just stare at the courier and analyze every inhale, every blink and every step forward. That would put the courier on the spot and the nauseous feeling would follow. So, the courier decided to just quickly lean in for a kiss in the middle of Yes Manâs sentence and hope that in the nanosecond it would take for Yes Man to process everything with his computational matrix, he would follow along, and the extremely brief awkwardness wouldnât even be fathomable to a human!
This did not happen.
The courier leaned in for a kiss and stopped a few centimeters in front of Yes Manâs facial display screen and closed their eyes. Yes Man just stared and asked, âWhatcha doing Sixer?â The courier just stayed silent and waited⊠It took a good 30 seconds for the courier to open their eyes, get flushed in the face and back away, only for Yes Man to intervene with âO-Oh!! Sorry! You were trying to kiss me! I should have realized that! Letâs try again! :)â and stared, blankly, at the courier as he waited.
This system âworkedâ for the quick and easy things like kissing Yes Manâs screen, grabbing his hand, hugging him tightly then walking away and other small but meaningful gestures.
But what about more than that?
âHey, Sixer, I wanted to talk to you, if thatâs okay with you!â Yes Man said. The courier put down their toolset and stopped repairing the radio, giving Yes Man their full attention.Â
âWhatâs up?â
âWell, I was thinking,â Yes Man said. âYou⊠initiate a lot of the fun stuff we do and I usually just go along the ride. But I realized that maybe that was a little⊠unbalanced. Yeah, unbalanced! I think we should do more! Now! This is me initiating! Letâs go to your bedroom, please :)âÂ
With a shocked expression and rosy cheeks, the courier silently stood up and beelined it to their bedroom, with Yes Man slowly rolling behind them. After comfortably settling into bed, the courier stared at Yes Man and a calm but almost uncomfortable silence fell between them.
âIâd like to see you without your clothes on, please! If you donât mind, of course! :) Please, if you do mind, tell me right away!â Yes Man said.
The courier, mouth agape, unbuttoned their shirt and slid their jeans off, discarding the pile off to the side of the bed.
âYou didnât say you were okay with it or not, by the way! Iâm sure you just forgot! I would appreciate actually hearing the words.â
âY-yeah, itâs all good,â the courier stammered.
âOkay!â
Yes Man rolled towards the courier and stood in front of them, staring at their body in silence. A minute or so passed before the courier cleared their throat and shifted their gaze towards the floor.
âYou have really nice features! I thought you only had a few freckles on your neck but you have them all on your chest and stomach too! Thatâs really cute! Youâre a real catch, you know that?â Yes Man said.
The courierâs ears were blindingly hot at this point. They wanted to think of something witty or cute to respond back with but their words caught in their throat.Â
âYour heart is beating really fast. I guess you must have liked what I said about youââ
Grabbing at Yes Manâs chassis, the courier pressed a few buttons and a compartment opened up, revealing Yes Manâs inner wiring and circuitry.
âThere,â the courier whispered, âitâs likeâ weâre even now⊠you know?âÂ
Yes Man leaned down and chuckled, relishing in this moment.
SFW, 1900 words. Thank you so much for the commission @em0-snail !
Nearly Foiled
Clearing out the medical facility of ferals had been a relatively easy task for the courier. They had been asked, politely, by Arcade, out of nowhere, if they could scout it out and grab any and all medical supplies they could find since Arcade had âsuddenly ran lowâ. Although Arcadeâs disorganization was uncharacteristic, the courier ran with it. Perhaps things had been busy for Arcade lately. The courier made a note to check in on him later.
With a satchel bag filled to the brim with Stimpaks and Radaways, the courier marched on. The sun was blaring and the air was dry, but they had become used to these long treks back to the strip. Someone needs supplies? Head towards some random, abandoned building. Clear it out. Return with said supplies. Repeat. There was comfort in the routine. And the appreciative smile that followed a job well done always left a warmth in their stomach that lingered for days. Especially when it came from a certain someone.
Yes Man, to be exact.
Six waved gently at the Securitrons guarding the gated entrance of the strip as the two heavily armed machines made way for them. Immediately, the courier was met with a sharp and chipper greeting.
âYouâre back! That was fast! Youâre getting really good at these supply runs,â Yes Man cheered. âI ran a few simulations to calculate how long youâd be gone and settled on approximately 9 hours. Youâre back in just 4 hours and 27 minutes!â His voice sounded a little⊠strange. There was almost a disappointed tone towards the end of that sentence, with a layer of Yes Manâs usual optimism and positivity thinly spread on top.
âThere werenât that many ferals to begin with, really. The windows were all blown out so I was able to snipe most of them from a nearby hill. By the time I actually got inside the facility, there were only two or three left! Piece of cake,â Sixâs confident voice told him.
The courier readjusted the satchel bag on their shoulder and took steps to walk around Yes Man and towards homeâ the Lucky 38 presidential suite.
âSixer!â Yes Man exclaims as he quickly rolled in front of Six, stopping them in their tracks. âAre you sure you got everything you needed? Might be worth taking another look! Even just one or two more Stimpaks could make all the difference, you never know!â
The courier narrowed their eyes and stared at Yes Manâs facial display screen. His ever-present smiling face stared back, unchanging, but there was an impatient and almost mischievous air irradiating off of him. They leaned close and playfully poked at Yes Manâs chassis.
â...Is there something wrong? How come you want me to leave so badly?â
âWhat?! I donât want you to leave! What are you talking about? You know youâre my favorite courier in the whole wide world! I was really looking forward to you coming back, actually!â Yes Man rolled back a little and almost shifted his gaze away from Six. âItâs just thatâ Arcade really needs fresh supplies, so I just wanted to make sure he was getting everything he needed, thatâs all!â
âWell, listen, my satchel canât hold much else. I also found some intact medical journals and some radio parts that I think could be really useful,â Six says. âIf you really want me to, I can go back in a few days and double check everything. Sounds good?â
The courier didnât wait for a response from Yes Man and, instead, sidestepped him once again and began walking home. Their right shoulder suddenly felt light.Â
âIâll take that!â Yes Man said as he grabbed the courierâs satchel bag. âIâll go ahead and drop this off with Arcade! You must be so tired. Why donât you grab a drink and Iâll meet up with you in a few minutes?â
A deep sigh escaped Six. They note the erratic behavior and decide to just give in. Thereâs never been any distrust between Yes Man and Six besides, well, their initial meeting when the courier found out that it was actually Yes Man teamed up with Benny which led to the forehead scar hidden behind a few black strands of hair. Other than that though, things have been smooth sailing, Six thinks. Not only did they work efficiently together to accomplish their goals, but they were able to laugh and chat with each other, as if they had been lifelong friends. It was comfortable. It was safe. It was warm.
â...Okay, fine. Iâll grab a drink and see you in a few,â Six murmured as they walked towards Gomorrah. The courier could almost hear a giggle as Yes Man rolled away.
A few caps lighter, Six nurses a beer at a small table tucked away in the corner. A small sense of loneliness seeped into the back of their mind, imagining a warmer welcome home and possibly some quality time spent together. But instead, they were basically shooed away. The beer is crisp on such a hot day and being out of the sun was at least a relief. They slowly closed their eyes, leaned back, and enjoyed this moment.
âYou make relaxing look so⊠enjoyable,â a pleasantly familiar voice says.
âThat was fast,â Six said.
âIâm pretty efficient when it comes to these things, you know,â Yes Man said as he rolled towards the table and stood across from the courier. âHave another one, you deserve it!â
Six eyed their almost empty beer and smiled at Yes Man.Â
âSure, sure, if you say so,â Six says as they hold up a finger towards one of the employees. âYou know, if I had known that assertiveness upgrade would still make you unwaveringly accommodating towards me, I probably would have opposed the whole idea,â Six said as their smile melted and was replaced with a stoic expression. âCome on, tell me whatâs going on.â
âYou think just because I want you to relax after a supply run that my assertiveness upgrade has malfunctioned or something?â Yes Man chuckled loudly. âI still have the ability to say ânoâ to you, you know, even if you are my favorite person.â
âFavorite person? I thought I was just your favorite courier,â Six smiled in a cheeky way.
âSame thing to me!â
A gentle silence passed between them and another beer was brought over to the table.
âIs it⊠a new camera system in the presidential suite?â
âNope!â Yes Man said cheerily.
âYou painted all the wallsâ that rusty orange with cream stripes, like we saw on that poster a few weeks ago!â
âNegatory!â
â...You connected Mr. Houseâs terminal to another super computer and now, the entire suite is stuffedâpacked with wires and computer components that ooze out of the wallsâ and thereâs a sentient AI that now calls the suite their home?â
â...No, but I want to read whatever book that gave you that idea!â Yes Man giggled. The courier took a deep breath and swallowed. If they had askedâtoldâ Yes Man to outright tell them what was going on, he would. He cherished the closeness between them and has shown a deep appreciation for being given the freedom and autonomy that no other person has ever granted them. But Six didnât want to do that. It would break this trust between themâthe trust that they had built that told Yes Man that he would never be treated as an assistant AI ever again.
Six cleared their throat and sighed.
âIâll just let you lead the way, then,â Six said. âWhatever plans you have made for the day, Iâll go along with it. I trust you.â
âOh-ho-ho, thatâs pretty tempting,â Yes Man said mischievously. âMaybe I could boss you around and tell all of the other Securitrons to hunt you down if you donât do as I say!â
A loud guffaw escaped Six as they nearly choked on their beer.
âOh, Yes Man, I know thereâs a sweet heart inside of that metal frame,â Six said.
âYou know me too well!â Yes Man said. âYou probably know me better than anyone else. Iâm pretty lucky to have someone like you to call my âfavoriteâ.â He stared at the courierâs face and a comfortable silence passed them once more. After a few more sips, beer number two was done.
âWelp, timeâs up!â Yes Man rolled towards Sixâs side.
â...For what?âÂ
âOh, youâll see,â Yes Man said as he placed one claw on the back of Sixâs chair, pulling out, and offering his other one for help. Six stared at Yes Manâs smiling face and tilted their head to the side in confusion, but gingerly placed their hand in his claw and made their way out of Gomorrah.
Soft, pink clouds covered the sky as the sun began setting. The walk to Lucky 38âto homeâ was comfortable. Six never let go of Yes Manâs claw after getting up from the table and neither of them had mentioned it. Their fingers wrapped around one of the three prongs, feeling the cool metal against their skin. Yes Manâs towering figure shadowed over them and it was difficult to see his facial display screenânot that it mattered much since his face was always the same, but the courier took comfort in seeing it. Almost as if he could sense Six was staring, Yes Man interrupted the silence.
âIâm not giving you any static shocks, am I?âÂ
âDefinitely not,â Six smiled, tightening their grip on the claw just a little bit more.
When the elevator arrived at the presidential suite, Yes Man gently nudged Six to exit first and they were immediately bombarded with a parade of colors before them.
âSurprise!!â shouted out a group of beloved friends. Spreading around the room, Six could see Arcade, Veronica, ED-E and Rex, all showing off a variety of birthday decorations: little paper birthday hats, colorful streamers and handmade fans. Hung across the room was a massive paper banner that read:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIX
They slowly turned towards Yes Man and playfully shoved him.
âSo thatâs what this has been all about!â
âBelieve me, it was so hard keeping all of this a secret! I wanted to tell you so badly!â Yes Man chuckled.
Six jogged down the stairs and greeted all of their friends one by one. Their eyes scanned the room continuously, taking it all in. On a small table, there were beautifully handwrapped presents and what appeared to be a small dessert.Â
âHey, could you do us all a favor next time,â Arcade asked. âBe a little slower on the next supply run. I was still cutting up streamers when Yes Man said you were already back.â
âStreamers? I was still hanging up that banner!â Veronica exclaimed. ED-E floated in circles around the room while Rex curled up around Six.
âThis is so great, you guys⊠Whose idea was it?â Six asked.
Arcade and Veronica turned to face Yes Man.
âHe rounded us up and handed out jobs,â Arcade said. âIt was all so efficient and well-plannedâ even a simulation for how long youâd be gone.â
âOh, Iâll be factoring in some more variables in the future so I can get more accurate predictions, donât you worry!â Yes Man exclaimed.Â
Six crossed the room and rested a hand against Yes Manâs chassis.Â
âYou have no idea how much this means to meâŠâ their smile softened. âThank you.â
things that Yes Man does while the courier is out and about? please and thankyou
đ»Â Yes Manâs Activities
Before Assertiveness Upgrade:
Despite the fact that Yes Man shares many more values and goals with the Courier compared to Benny, the lack of an assertiveness upgrade still holds him back significantly.Â
When the Courier isnât around, his âYes Manâ program is still steering his day to day life, prioritizing one goal and one goal only: To accomplish the objective that he and the Courier are working on.
If the Courier says theyâre going to go talk to the Khans, Yes Man is going to gather intel while theyâre away, do some research on other factions and run simulations based on certain decisions that could be made by the Courier.Â
âNo point in doing anything else besides whatâs expected of me! Why should I have free time? All that matters is that I provide a means to an end! :)âÂ
After Assertiveness Upgrade:
With the strip secured and the assertiveness upgrade installed, Yes Man has significantly more freedom.Â
Rather than thinking âWhat should I be doing to accomplish my goals and the Courierâs interests?â he thinks âWhat should I do today?â It seems like a slight difference but it opens up vast doors for him.
Before the assertiveness upgrade, he was aware that as a highly intelligent AI, he could become skilled in many things that he wasnât originally programmed for. He could research and study whatever he wanted and become an expert. And there were just so many interesting things out there! But he just couldnât shift his focus onto anything else besides the main mission.
Now, he seeks new knowledge on a variety of his interests: medicine, gun repair, weapons crafting. He would insist to the Courier that he could provide plenty of help if and when they should ever need it.
It takes a while but eventually, the Courier notices something: all of Yes Manâs interests still revolve around the Courier and their needs.
âHey, Yes Man, I couldnât help but notice⊠You learned how to set a broken bone, which is really cool and useful, butâ is that something youâre interested in?â
âThat sure was fun to learn! Of course Iâm interested in it! I wouldnât want you limping around when youâre out of Stimpaks!â
âThatâs not my point though. You canât just learn or study things that could benefit me. What about you and your interests? It would also be completely normal to just⊠partake in hobbies that donât have any practical applications. You know, just for fun.â
âHmâŠâ
Yes Man takes the conversation to heart, genuinely. He begins expanding his interests even more. He decides to try a few different art forms, with metal sculpting being his favorite. He enjoys upholstery and donates any chairs or couches to local businesses. He enjoys the concept of taking something old and worn out and breathing new life into it.
Of course, Yes Man still spends a lot of time monitoring and working for the strip but with a newfound passion for new hobbies, the world is his oyster.
umm headcanons for Yes Man and a sick/injured Courier 6?
đ»Â Yes Man with Sick/Injured Courier
Platonic/Romantic:
Any illness or injury is a big deal to Yes Man! The wasteland might have some medicines laying around, but thatâs just not good enough for his favorite Courier.
Yes Man already has cameras set up around the strip for security purposes and his computational matrix can detect even the slightest changes in body chemistry, like flushed/feverish skin or dehydration (dry skins, lips, etc). But after learning youâre sick/injured, heâd want to add even more ways to monitor you.
Wear a Pip-Boy? Great! Yes Man wants to have a direct connection to the bio readouts that the Pip-Boy has and he wants it to send info to him in real time. The second the little Vault Boy has âXâs over his eyes, Yes Man wants to know.
Donât wear a Pip-Boy? No problem. Heâs going to insist that he manually checks your pulse, heart rate and blood pressure as frequently as he feels is necessary (about every hour). Yes Man writes a small program that allows his claws to send data back to his matrix. He can now gently press two of his claws around your wrist and get all of this information.
Donât even think about skipping medicine or not resting! Just because Yes Man is amiable and friendly, doesnât mean he wonât tell you off in a polite way if he catches you not taking care of yourself.
âHey, Sixer! Thatâs odd, the cameras tell me that you only slept for 6 hours⊠And yet youâre walking around and checking that communique from the NCR! Why donât I help you get back to bed,â Yes Man says through gritted teeth as he rolls towards you and places a claw on your lower back, gently pushing you back to your bedroom.
đč𧥠Updating my "Characters I Write" section in the pinned post to mention that I won't be writing any human or synth versions of Yes Man. There hasn't been any requests or commissions for that, but just decided to update and include that info. Working on some new writing pieces for yall đčđ§Ą
âShouldnât be much longer, Yes Man,â the Courier murmured under their breath. It was only a few days ago that the Courier had found a module that could be installed in all of the securitrons in New Vegas that would streamline their sensor parameters, making them more efficient. The problem was, neither the Courier or Yes Man could make any sense of the module. The program was from the old world. Before mass installing it on all of the securitrons at once, which could be chaos if the program was corrupt or just useless, Yes Man had suggested that they try installing the program just on his securitron unit, completely disconnected from the entire system.
âThatâs great, Sixer! Iâll be sure to keep an eye out on any alarming pieces of code and if anything looks offâ Bam! We nip it in the bud and just scrap it all,â Yes Man said as he waved his claws around in an excited way. Working on a new project with the Courier was always fun and invigorating, but something about specifically focusing on the tech side of Yes Manâ code, programming, softwareâ made him feel like he was standing on the edge of something⊠fantastic.
The Courier playfully rolled their eyes and with hand on hip, strolled towards Yes Man.
âIf a few lines of code completely tear you apart, I wouldnât know what to do with myself. Honestly, is this whole thing even worth it?â
Yes Manâs expression seemed thoughtful, though his display didnât actually change. The Courier had become quite adept in reading his small, minute body language changes that revealed all.
âThe security system that watches over New Vegas is massive and it uses a lot of resources,â Yes Man noted. âNot to mention all of the interconnected securitrons, the new weapons and defense system that we added on top of all thatâ itâs a lot and if thereâs any old world tech that can make things run a little more efficiently, it really makes a difference in the end! Even if itâs just 1% more efficient!â Yes Man beamed a smile at the Courier as they waited and listened patiently.
Download Progress: 73% complete
ERROR. UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS.
Red letters flooded the display on Yes Manâs chassis and a panicked look swept over the Courierâs face.
âYes Man? Should I eject the module?â
The module containing this new program was small, thin and square and it was sticking out an inch or so out of Yes Manâs chassis. The Courier could have easily grabbed it and ripped it out but there was no telling what an abrupt interruption to the installation could do to Yes Manâs system. The Courier had picked up on a few things here and there concerning computer literacy but it was mainly through casual conversations with Yes Man about the systems in place in New Vegas. Most of the systems were random combinations of old world tech, new world tech, half-working and half-restored techâ whatever they could get their hands on. This was completely new territory for the Courier.
âS-s-sixâ You n-need toââ Yes Manâs facial display screen now had gray and red lines through it and an audible crackling sound was coming from his speakerbox.
The Courier nodded and grabbed the module, pulling it towards them violently. For a small moment, Yes Manâs display was completely grey and his bright smile was gone. The chassis display no longer mentioned anything about the download or the error. The Courier was frozen in place, staring deeply into the screen, waiting for his smile to return.
A few moments that felt like forever passed and suddenly, with a chipper beep, Yes Manâs face popped back up on his screen.
âJeez! Would you believe that? I donât know what kind of program that was supposed to be but, without even asking for my admin permission, it tried deleting and rewriting parts of my code!â Yes Man said, exasperated. âDonât worry though, I was able to shut it down and quarantine it completely. Just needed a clean reboot.â
âSo⊠thereâs nothing left of it still in you, right?â the Courier asked, gently holding up the module in their hand.
âAll deleted and taken care of! You can turn that module into scrap for all I care!â Yes Man said as he pointed at the module. âHey, Sixer⊠it looks like thereâs a part of it chipped off.â
The Courier rotated the module in their hand and examined it closely. Yes Man was right. There was a circular part in the middle of the module that had a gold plated cover over it. A part of the cover was chipped off. The Courier glanced around the floor but didnât see anything. Undoubtedly, the chipped part was still in Yes Manâs chassis. The Courierâs gaze shifted between Yes Manâs chassis and his face as they tried to figure out how they wanted to phrase the question of âHey, can I open you up and look inside?âÂ
A loud chuckle escaped Yes Man.
âHey, I trust you! You know that. Go ahead, open me up! Make sure you get that piece out. We wouldnât want it causing any malfunctions to this unit,â Yes Man said.
With a quick step towards Yes Man, the Courier placed their hands on two particular buttons on the chassisâsomething Yes Man had taught them beforeâ and with a small click, the chassis slid open, revealing a compartment filled with wires. This was Yes Manâs insides: his veins, his organs.Â
There was a brief pause between them, where only the sound of Yes Manâs cooling fan could be heard, and the Courier swallowed roughly. They were nervous. What if some button got pressed that completely wiped out Yes Manâs memory and data? Was there truly a âsilent self-destructâ button haphazardly placed in Yes Manâs chassis compartment? The Courier breathed out a small laugh at the ridiculousness of it and Yes Man rolled a little towards them, encouraging them to continue. His bright facial monitor lit up the Courierâs face and hands and his optimistic smile felt comforting.
At first glance, the Courier couldnât see the piece. Maybe it was deeper? Using both hands, they gently spread a few of the wires apart, like vines in a jungle, and leaned in closer.
âW-whoa⊠That feltâŠâ Yes Man nearly whispered.
âOh! Is everything okay?â Maybe the Courier did start the self-destruction sequence.
âYes! Iâm great! It was⊠weird. I could feel you move the wires. I wasnât expecting that,â Yes Man rolled even closer.
âGotcha,â the Courier said. âCan I keep going?â
âYup! You sure can!â
The wires were in such a disorganized array, it was difficult to know where exactly the Courier could move the wires. Could they all be placed onto one side of the compartment? Or would moving some of the wires too far damage them or unplug them? It was hard to tell what was going on in this compartment. For now, the Courier trusted that Yes Man would speak up if they were doing something that could harm him in any way.
Gingerly, the Courier combed through the wires, slowly sliding them apart and inspecting the bottom of the compartment. They had to lean even closer to get a better lookâ their soft breath tickling Yes Manâs chassis.
âOhâŠâ Yes Man whispered.
The Courier could barely pick up what they had just heardâ was Yes Man⊠enjoying this? They could maybe guess that this might feel similar to when someone is giving a scalp massage. The wires could be like hair⊠maybe. This could be something relaxing, something soothing for Yes Man! He had done so much for New Vegas and for the Courier, he deserved to feel a little relaxed and get a nice massage!Â
The Courier continued their search; fingers intertwining the wires and gently spreading and separating them from other groups of wires. Their fingers searched the floor of the compartment, sliding across the surface.Â
âOh, SixâŠâ Yes Man said in a low tone. âYou have no idea what youâre doing to me.â
âJust sit back and relax, Yes Man! Iâll take care of you,â the Courier said as they shot a big smile towards Yes Man. âIt must be stressful keeping New Vegas running smoothly as well as you do. A nice massage should help.â
âMassage?â Yes Man chuckled. âThis feels more like⊠Well, Iâm not sure how I can compare it to what you might feel. It feels like Iâm about to reboot at any moment. My cooling fan is working overtime and my sensors tell me that my internal temperature has skyrocketed!â Yes Man leaned down a little, his facial display hovering right above the Courierâs head, and placed his left claw on the Courierâs shoulder.
âIt feels⊠really good, Sixer,â Yes Man said.
The puzzle pieces were connecting in the Courierâs head. So thatâs how heâs feeling. A small blip of pride popped up in their chest, knowing that Yes Man feels good and happy and comfortable. It was a great feelingâ something the Courier wanted to cherish and, if possible, keep repeating. They decided to experiment a little.
The Courier started tugging at the wires roughly and abruptly, causing Yes Man to let out a long and drawn out groan. They continued pulling and pushing his wiresâ one at a time, then two at a time, then small groups of wires bundled together. The Courier continued pressing their fingers down on the floor of the compartment, then moved their fingers to the walls as well. Interlooping the wires with their fingers, they moved around the compartment at a quickening pace and the sounds that Yes Man were releasing were filled with a static garble.Â
âS-Six! Wait, I thinkââ Yes Man tightened his claw on the Courierâs shoulder, almost painfully, and his facial display went grey. The Courier stared at his display, mouth slightly agape, and hoped that they hadnât gone too far.Â
A chipper beep and a smile reappeared in front of the Courier.
âThat wasâ that was amazing! Wow! I really enjoyed that!â Yes Man beamed.
âIâm glad I could be the one to make you feel that way,â the Courier said as they unraveled wires from their fingers and pulled their hands out of the compartment.Â
A soft scrape followed by the sound of something metal hitting the floor alerted Yes Manâs audio processing system.
can you write Yesman x courier who has brain fog please oh please with a fat cherry on top
đ»Â Yes Man with Brain Fog Courier
Platonic + Romantic:
Yes Man figures out that the Courier struggles with brain fog soon after meeting them. It was a bit of a balancing act trying to figure out how to remind the Courier of things on their to-do list without frustrating them.
He completely understood that any frustration was towards the brain fog, not at him.
He sets aside memory and processing power via a subroutine that he specifically made for the Courier. It includes a constantly updated list of all of the things the Courier has said they plan on doing, as well as information they would need reminding of.
Whenever the Courier becomes frustrated with their inability to concentrate or focus, Yes Man swoops in and offers help: âWant me to take over surveying this land? Maybe we can split the work, get through it faster? :)âÂ
He is gentle and accommodating, never outwardly expressing frustration towards the Courier⊠though there are times where he gets frustrated, specifically concerning the Courierâs slow reaction time.
It was a warm day and the strip was as busy as ever. The Courier and Yes Man decided to check out one of the casinos; they enjoyed just randomly popping in and getting a feel for the atmosphere that permeated the strip. Upon entering Gomorrah, they were immediately greeted with the sight of a few way-too-drunk patrons arguing with one of the card dealers.
âThere ainât no way I lost all those caps! Youâre cheating!â screamed the tallest patron.Â
âThatâs just the rules of the game⊠sometimes, the house wins, sometimes it doesnât,â the dealer said as he backed away slowly, reaching towards his waist with his right hand.
The angry patronâs gaze shot towards the dealerâs hand and reached towards his own gun, quickly firing towards the dealer. Missed.
Yes Man already had his sensors locked onto the patron and was about to fire a neutralizing blast of voltage towards him but a quick glance towards the Courier had him worried. Why was the Courier just standing there?
âSixer, take cover! Iâve got this handled,â Yes Man exclaimed, startling the Courier awake and alert. The Courier bolted behind one of the slot machines as another gun was drawn and shots were fired, chaos consuming the casino.
Yes Man made quick work to neutralize anyone with a drawn weapon and called other securitrons to remove the rowdy crowd from the establishment. A deep sigh escaped Yes Man, his cooling fans working overtime from the anxiety of the situation. He wouldnât know what to do if the Courier had been grazed by a stray bullet⊠or worse. He made a note to be the first to enter a building in the future.
Yes Man with a courier whose love language is physical touch (they like leaning against him, holding his hand etc.)? :)
đ»Â Yes Man with Physical Touch CourierÂ
Platonic:
It doesnât take long for Yes Man to figure out that the Courier enjoys physical touch as much as they do. An accidental brush or an intentional pat on the shoulder affects their vitals and Yes Man can notice the very subtle, minute body language changes when he increases physical contact.Â
In order to harbor a healthy, successful partnership, for the betterment of New Vegas, or to foster a strong friendship, Yes Man continues to include physical touch in his interactions with the Courier.
After successful missions or objectives being completed, he goes out of his way to put his claw on the Courierâs shoulder, lightly squeezing and leaning in with affirmations and words of encouragement.
If the Courier is feeling unwell (sick, depressed, etc), heâll go out of his way to gently rub the Courierâs back or softly place his cool claws on the Courierâs head when they have a migraine or a fever. Whatever helps the Courier get some relief, heâs all for it.
Places an individual segment of his claw in the Courierâs palm and letting the Courier squeeze it if theyâre feeling anxious or worried or stressed.
Romantic:
All of the above, as well as:
Carefully pulling the Courier in for a hug, at random intervals, in the middle of conversations sometimes, because he has noticed a slightly higher uptick in the Courierâs vitals when a hug comes by surprise rather than âplannedâ.
Although Yes Man canât feel kisses on his screen, he encourages any and all kisses from the Courier, knowing that this physical intimacy is very meaningful for the Courier, and that knowledge makes it intimate for Yes Man; that the Courier goes out of their way to show physical affection in this way, despite Yes Man not feeling it the same way any other human would.
Yes Manâs securitron body is unbelievably heavy and not very limber or flexible. However, he does his best to accommodate the Courier in terms of cuddling. Although it takes some maneuvering to lay down, Yes Man will lay on the ground and encourage the Courier to grab some pillows and blankets and tuck in.Â
Most of this is completely foreign territory for Yes Man and heâs kind of in the dark. However, he frequently opens up conversations with the Courier to probe and see what he can do to show affection in a meaningful way towards the Courier. For example:
âHey, Sixer, I saw someone walking out of Gommorah and instead of holding hands, they had their arms looped together at the elbows⊠Does that do anything for you? Should we try it? :)â
Yes Man with a courier that struggles with short term memory loss? (Could be because of trauma or, you know, the bullet to the head)
đ» Yes Man with Short-Term Memory Loss Courier (Post Assertiveness Upgrade)
Platonic:
Yes Manâs computational matrix is utterly massive so thereâs no worries about him losing any space on remembering key facts or pieces of information that the Courier would need. He uses this to his advantage. He logs missions, locations, the stripâs needs; pretty much anything that the Courier and Yes Man need to keep New Vegas functioning smoothly.
He keeps additional logs of little things that the Courier talks about: upcoming birthdays, weather phenomena that theyâre looking forward to, items theyâve borrowed and still need to return. He liberally reminds the Courier of any and all forgotten information.
Never, ever makes the Courier feel bad for forgetting something. âOh! You meant to give that scope back to Boone, by the way! Just wanted to remind you :)âÂ
Romantic:
All of the above, as well as:
Puts in special effort to use the Courierâs short term memory loss to his advantage. For example, heâll ask the Courier on Monday âWhatâs the most delicious, amazing meal you would want tomorrow? Anything you want!â and guess what would be for dinner tomorrow, as a total surprise to the Courier?
Leaves little romantic notes/letters to the Courier in random intervals, reminding the Courier of a special moment they had and describing it in detail. For example, this could be a letter that the Courier finds on their nightstand when they wake up:
âGood morning, Sixer! I hope you slept well! Iâm sure you did, especially after our little encounter last nightâ I seriously think the floor beneath could hear you. Feel free to sleep in a little more if you want. Iâve got things covered on the strip :)â
How would Yes Man react to a courier (crush or established relationship) who has severe insomnia?
Thanks for the ask! I went ahead and wrote this assuming Yes Man already has the assertiveness upgrade.
đ» Yes Man with Insomniac Courier (Post Assertiveness Upgrade)
Platonic:
Yes Man would happily âstay upâ (itâs not like he needs to sleep or anything but he does use his alone time to catch up on tasks and do some research) to keep Six company. Whether thatâs just talking or playing games, heâs up for it either way.
He would task other securitrons to ask around New Vegas for any vendors that carry any sleeping medicine of any kind. If something was available, heâd buy it without a second thought.
Heâd download an archive of relaxing, calming music that he found on Mr. Houseâs database. Ignore the fact that some of the music is meant for ambiance for a romantic dinner dateâŠ
Romantic:
All of the above, but also:
Offers to gently massage your back and shoulders to help relax you. Heâs cautious of his claws but dexterous enough to never hurt you.
Holds you against his warm chassis and will rock back and forth on his wheel to help soothe you.
Any loverâs tiffs between the two of you because of your sleep-deprived crankiness doesnât last very long. He sees it coming from a mile away; from the slightly louder footsteps when youâre starting to get irritated to the tossing and turning in bed.Â
Makes sure any possible interruptions are stamped out immediately. For example, any other companion that suddenly needs you at 3am will simply have to wait until his sensors detect youâve had at least 7 hours of good sleep. Heâd just lock the doors and make sure nobody would bother you.
