"I'm surprised Jasper hasn't made it here yet." It was very rare to find Alice without her mate right beside her. Carlisle honestly found it incredibly sweet how connected to one another they were. A true pair of mates if he'd ever seen one. "Now why would I miss out on a party?" He asked jokingly, letting out a soft laugh. "Esme is actually on her way as well. I'm sure we can keep each other's company until our mates make their fashionably late appearances." The elder vampire looked at his adopted daughter fondly, nodding his head. "I hear you, Alice. Just Carlisle tonight." He raised an eyebrow up at her warning. "Alright.. Anything we should be worried about?"

Athenodora was thirsty, but not stupid. She knew that biting in the neck of her victim would draw too much attention, attention that was very much so not wanted, so she did the next best thing. With her razor sharp fingernail, she made an intricate slice along the human's wrist before she began to feed on them. With her age and a lot of practice, she had mastered the art of feeding without injecting venom into her victims; something that was quite the lifesaver. After taking her fill, she ripped off a portion of the human's shirt, binding their wrist and laying their unconscious body down in one of the abandoned rooms. Just as she joined the rest of the partygoers, after changing out her contacts of course, she locked eyes with something. The vampire queen lifted up her hand to brush her thumb against the corner of her mouth, making sure there weren't any stray traces of blood, before she spoke up. "Enjoying the party?"

Being the extroverted person that Seth was, it was no surprise that he was excited for the party that was going on at the abandoned building on the edge of the woods. It was a place he had become familiar with whilst patrolling around La Push and Forks, but he had never had the opportunity to go inside of the building until that night. As soon as he entered the party, he was overcome by the loud music, waving glow sticks and paint splatters everywhere. He'd never been to a party like that before - most of the parties on the reservation were barn fires at the beach. He maneuvered his way through the crowd towards the area where alcohol was being served, his eyes meeting someone else's when he glanced in their direction. In true Seth like fashion, a smile spread across his face. "Wanna do a shot with me?"

The drink in his hand โ a beer that seemed to be the most popular amongst the young locals โ remained largely untouched. The bottle swirled idly between his fingers as he held it by the neck, forcing himself to take a swig every once in a while.ย It had been years since he had needed to truly blend in.ย
Blue contacts covered his red irises for the night, lighting his eyes with an odd purple hue beneath the colorful strobes of the warehouse.ย For what felt like the hundredth time already that night, Alec ducked his hand into his face and poked at his right eye, adjusting the dreadfully uncomfortable film there.ย
Looking back up, Alec found a pair of inquisitive eyes on him. He supposed he should try a bit harder to act as though he werenโt here entirely against his willโ but his demeanor remained a bit too stiff and impassive, and he hardly glanced at the person before sweeping a hard gaze back over the crowd.
โContact lens,โ was all he offered by way of explanation.ย โFuckinโ things have been bugging me all night.โ Luckily, a conversation point any species could empathize with under the circumstance.
Malcolm could have thought of a million other places he would rather be then there at that moment - forced to mingle and interact with a bunch of beings and creatures that, apart from his sister and a few choice coven mates, he couldn't care less about. But alas; duty calls. There was no way that he could have gotten out of attending the warehouse party. With all of the supernatural occurrences going on, he had to stick close to his coven mates - especially their leaders.
So, after donning a pair of very uncomfortable brown contact lenses, Malcolm reluctantly joined the festivities. He was already irritated by the fact that he had to show up at all, but the contacts were bringing his annoyance to all new levels. The vampire had to resist the urge to prod at his eyes to somehow lessen the discomfort, focusing on keeping a tight hold on the drink he had picked up as soon as he entered the warehouse.
Movement in his peripheral caught his attention, and he glanced over, his gaze landing on Alec. Who seemed to be just as uncomfortable with his contacts as he was with his own. By the time Alec looked up, Malcolm was standing in front of him. "Trust me, I know." He heaved a heavy sigh, shaking his head. "Anything caught your eye tonight?" He left the inquiry open, any answer Alec was willing to give, acceptable. Whether it be something relating to their duties their in Forks, or feeding options and everything in between.
"You made flowers for this human and gave away your branch?"

alice was all dressed up . dolled up in a dress that glowed against the black light of the party . the nature of the invitation was odd but nothing to ring her alarm just yet . still she was excited for the rave . its been a long time since she went to one . the music was blasting the moment she stepped . the beat dropping when she made it to the bar . Ordering herself a drink or two . โ How's the party so far ? are you enjoying it ? โ alice asked the one besides her .
While Carlisle wasn't against going to parties and events, in fact he even enjoyed them quite a bit sometimes. Unsurprisingly, Carlisle was a social creature - he enjoyed being around other beings. It was part of the reason why he had so many coven members and friends scattered throughout the seven continents. However, there was something tugging at the back of his mind that there was something dangerous afoot. His rampant thoughts came to a halt when he heard a familiar voice - a voice that brought a smile to his face. "The party's not too bad. I've been enjoying myself so far, I suppose." He brought his own drink up to his lips, sipping at it casually. "How about you, Alice?"

alice had been feeling a but uneasy for a couple of days now but never showed it . there are many things she saw in the possible future to come that she didn't truly disclosed with any one . Jasper sometimes because he could feel her worries towards a possible future . She only would say something if she was sure and the future was solidified .
โโ I have time . Just came from shopping , actually โโ The small vampire smiled at the sight of carlisle before she started to look through all the bags she had brought in . Grabbing two and holding it out to him . Alice would always get them a whole set of outfits or two . โโ I could go for a mountain lion . Oh , I hope you like . this will go well with dior dress shoe i got you . โโ Of course everyone in this house will be getting an outfit picked by her .
Carlisle wasn't surprised when presented with the knowledge of Alice's previous whereabouts - it wasn't unusual for the smaller vampire to spend a lot of time in boutiques and shopping venues. It was another one of her quirks that the patriarch of the Cullen family had come to find endearing more than anything. Alice being around had added a sense of normalcy to the Cullen household. Prior to her, none of his adopted children had been so invested in a humanlike activity such as shopping. "Ah, thank you, Alice. I can always count on you to keep an old man like myself in style," he joked, reaching out to take the bags from her. The doctor took a quick moment to glance inside of the bags, examining the articles of clothing that she had purchased for him. "These are really nice, Alice. I can definitely pair them with the shoes you bought for me. I'll wear it the next time I go to work." He gave her a warm smile before disappearing for a brief moment, bringing his bags up to his shared room with Esme, before reappearing just as quickly as he left. "Let's go find you a mountain lion, shall we?"

He gave her a sympathetic look. Carlisle was all too familiar with the struggle of having intoxicated patients come in to be treated. Most of the time, their drunken state made it more difficult to treat them. They ended up being belligerent or completely unable to give any answers the doctors needed to properly aid them. Fortunately for the doctor, he had enough experience to know how to deal with drunk patients. Yet and still, he wouldn't wish that on his worst enemy. "I'm so sorry to hear that - I know that must not have been an easy feat for you. But I'm also sure you knocked it out of the park too. You always do." He glanced down at his watch, checking the time, before nodding his head. "I definitely have a moment to spare. My treat?"
the volturi guard grinned and tilted her head towards her mate. this happened more often than most people would actually guess, especially for malcolm. but that was the thing with them โ if there was even a hint of sadness, anger, or whatever moody emotion she might feel, he could always tell. it also helped with the fact that phoebe was an open book with him. other people with mates could probably agree with synchronicity.
"absolutely, let's go see who we can find." phoebe was a little too excited. this was half of the fun of hunting for her. people, well human, watching knowing how delicious they could taste. she looked up at the sky and realized just how late in the night it had gotten. "right now, is the perfect time anyways."
Adoration and amusement swarmed in the pit of his stomach when he picked up on her excitement at the prospect of hunting, a small smile of his own tugging at the corners of his mouth as he nodded his head in agreement. "I agree." His eyes glanced upwards, taking in the dark, night sky with ease. Even with how dark it was, his perfect vision could make it every hidden cloud and star. He squeezed her hand in his own gently, bringing it up to his lips so he could press a kiss against the back of her hand, before letting their joined appendages fall in between them, still linked at the fingers. Faster than a human eye could blink, he was running, knowing that Phoebe could easily keep up with him as he moved closer to the growing scent of human blood.
๐๐ป๐ธ๐ ๐ธ ๐๐ด๐ ๐ด๐ฟ๐๐ด๐๐ ๐ด certain level of discomfort in guarding the wives, in that despite Alec's best efforts, they would never view him as much more or less than a glorified babysitter. He never saw it as such, and never deigned to make them feel that way; if anything, he hoped his company put them at easeโย assuming that was a possible feat for anyone in Alec's presence.
The top of his head lumbered just above the bookshelves in the tiny store, his eyes periodically sweeping the rows as he trailed patiently behind Athenodora. His attention was mostly fixated beyond, out the window and on the disappearing tree line in the distance, until Athenodora's voice snapped him back to present company. He raised a brow in inquisition, extending his arm so that she could more easily add a book to the ever-growing stack atop his splayed palm.
"Bored?" he hummed, shifting the weight of the books to rest across both handsโ re-familiarizing himself with human movements. "Perhaps we're in the wrong section, then." Alec offered a smirk, knowing full well that the boredom she spoke of was much larger than their immediate scenario. As per usual, he didn't respond in regards to his own feelingsโ which were along the lines of boredom being a privilege. After a beat, he eyed her with genuine curiosity. "Do you want to head back, Miss? Or maybe try another store?" Keeping her safe was his main objective, but keeping her entertained was always a bonus.
With Alec being one of Aro's favorite guard members, along with his sister, Athenodora was quite familiar with him. Ever since his rebirth as a vampire, she had been there in the background, watching him and his twin. They both fascinated the vampire queen. Two beings that oozed power and intimidation. Even though they tended to stick to themselves, Dora found ways to be around them. When Demetri wasn't slated as her personal bodyguard, it was usually Alec or Jane - per her request. If she had to pick a guard member besides Demetri, they were her top picks. If she was going to be required to have protection outside of the castle, it was going to be someone whose company she actually enjoyed.
The little bit of freedom she was allowed in the God forsaken rainy town had made her hungry for more. She wanted to spend as much time outside as she could. The devious side of her wanting to find a bit of trouble to get into. "Perhaps.." She trailed off, mirroring the smirk given to her. "Another store? Hm.. No." She shook her head once, her eyes alight with mischief. "Take me patrolling, Alec. I want to run sweeps with you. Whatever you, Jane and the others do when you're not watching over the other wives and I." While they weren't outright forbidden from actively participating in conflict, it was an unspoken rule that the wives didn't place themselves in any direct danger. But Athenodora was curious - she wanted to know what was going on in Forks just as much as anyone else. "And let's keep this between us, shall we?"
a glance to carlisle out of the corner of her eye was the only indication of her listening , features placid and unmoving as rose reapplied her lip gloss โ long seconds passing for she hums in agreement . most things that had to do with the individual members of their family was done in a group , times that they weren't usually at the behest of her mate or for a reason that suited rose , and rose alone . the years that had passed hadn't changed that though the apathy and coldness the vampire possessed had never been intentional , rather , time spent alone having left rose comfortable in its silence.
โ i suppose we have both been busy . โ an intentional act on her end which neither of them had to voice to know the truth of it . she preferred other places to forks , other passions and places to its dreary weather and stifling , boring air despite it being close to another city . even if it hadn't been for the gift that carlisle had bestowed onto her , the little town wouldn't have been her place of choice to settle. โ we could make a habit of it to go once a quarter just ourselves . โ
"I would like that very much." A smile spread across his face in response to her suggesting, a small feeling of hope bubbling up in his chest. It'd been about a century since he had turned her into a vampire and it was the first time that he didn't have to be the one to bring up spending time with one another first. It warmed his heart, so to speak. "How is everything going with your projects?" He asked, making pleasant conversation as he hoisted up the carcass of a buck onto his shoulder with ease. He reached for hers as well, carrying both of the deceased animals on either shoulder to good spot for digging. "Did you finish up the one you were working on the last time we spoke?"

Last Malai and Carlisle saw each other, he had just mentioned to her that he and his sweet little โfamilyโ were planning to move to this quaint town of Forks. It was rare for Malai to come into a town already knowing a friendly face, so she wasted no time in paying her old friend a visit the best way Malai knew how. By sneaking into his office. Entering a room unnoticed was as easy as breathing for Malai. Even one in a building as populated as a local hospital after a natural phenomenon. She hasn't been as discreet as she could have been in been keeping track of his movement all day ( she wouldnโt be surprised if he had noticed something by now ) but only decided to make her presence known the moment he stepped foot into his office.
ย โHello Carlisle.โ Malai is sat comfortably on his chair, elbows propped up on his desk with her hands cupping her face. Cherry lips immediately curve into an amiable smile. โStill keeping that doctor bit going, are you?โ One hand reaches to scoop up a stethoscope lying on the desk, hooking the contraption to her ears and twirling the cord aimlessly with a perfectly manicured finger. As if it would actually do anything to emphasize her hearing. Or his for that matter. Still, it certainly added to the role. โI have to admit it suits you. You look quite handsome in white.โ She always said it was his color. Very symbolic of his angelic disposition. That purity of his character that had managed to both impress and confound Malai over the years. โNasty little storm huh? Is Forks always like this?โ
Throughout the course of his three hundred plus years on God's green Earth, the head of the Olympic Coven had made plenty of friends and allies that were scattered all throughout different parts of the world. In his travels, he had met and run across many different kinds of people, specifically vampires. And while he hadn't become friends with all of them, he had gained the respect of all of them because of his kindness, genuine disposition and pleasant aura. Literally an angel amongst vampires, he had been told once or twice. Malai was one of the vampires he had met during his travels that he had considered a friend, and had kept in contact with over the years. They didn't see one another all that often, once every few decades, but when they did, it was always a pleasant occurrence. The scent that was in the air, growing stronger the closer he moved to his office, was familiar. So familiar that it didn't take longer than a second for his enhanced mental capacity to piece two and two together. The scent belong to Malai. His eyebrows drew together in confusion on reflex, surprised by her sudden arrival. Had he missed a call from her before? He opened his office door and stepped inside, not at all surprised to see his friend sitting behind his desk. "Malai - what do I owe this pleasant surprise?" He asked kindly, slipping out of his white coat and hanging it up. "It's not a bit." He sighed, more amused than frustrated as he shook his head. "Still unwilling to try the vegetarian diet?" He asked, noting that her eyes were still very much red. The doctor couldn't help but laugh at her compliment, a small snort escaping him. "You flatter me too much." His expression sobered up a bit, and he heaved a heavy sigh. "Definitely not always. From what I know, there hasn't been a storm like this here in decades.. Seems almost odd. Unnaturally so."
โ seth, stop whining . โ had it been anyone else attempting to appeal to them at such a tone and as frequently as their brother had been , the snarl of her teeth would have already been flashed , choice words to follow . seth was one of the only beings that had the ability to stop leah in their tracks and be gentle ( as gentle as they could manage ) with their voice and he knew it . โ i said i would go with you when i had the time to . โ guilt had bubbled in the pit of their stomach when he'd first asked , a silent acknowledgement that she hadn't been around at all , not even for him . the halfhearted promise to go to the beach had been easy to agree to , pushed off for a number of things both true and not , just as they would do again .
โ i picked up a shift at the shop , and half to be there in a couple of hours . we can just go tomorrow , alright ? โ tomorrow , just like they had promised before with the days turning to weeks and now leah couldn't remember when she'd made the promise to begin with.
Seth knew that he shouldn't have felt as disappointed as he did. It wasn't the first time his older sibling had brushed him off or given him a raincheck on something that they had promised to do with or for him. He should have been used to it, but he wasn't. It still hurt. Every time Leah decided that they wanted to blow off their plans or denied him the opportunity to hang out with them, it was like a punch to Seth's chest. All he really wanted was to be around his the older shifter. Even when they were younger, he tended to follow Leah around as soon as he learned how to crawl. He just stared at them as they spouted off yet another excuse. Another reason that the two of them couldn't go to the beach. Another reason for them not to spend time around Seth. "..Yeah.. Okay.. Whatever, Leah."
"Dude. It's literally been like ten minutes since I told you our ETA was thirty minutes." Kennedy responds with a roll of their brown eyes in an attempt to look annoyed, but they are betrayed but the amused chuckle that follows immediately. Impatience aside, Seth was a perfect companion for these kind of trips. His eagerness to help was incredibly useful and she has to admit... these trips would be a whole lot more boring without his tunes and conversation.
Now that they were a mere minutes away though, Kenny figures it's time to fill Seth in on some details. One hand reaches towards the stereo, turning the knob to lower the volume of whatever music they were blasting before gesturing for Seth to open the glove box of her Prius. There, he would find an couple news articles dating back from the seventies about a religious leader that had gone to prison for the murder and exploitation of some of it's church members, a couple of pictures or abandoned buildings and mugshots, and a map of Washington, with a red circle drawn around a town called Claquato.
"Remember that weird cult murderer I was telling you about? With the dude that I said didn't fit the profile for a cult leader?" Kennedy had relayed to Seth beforehand about how she was almost certain the guy in the mugshot had taken the fall for someone. She had even showed interviews of the guy, how unsure and stiff he was -- like a shit actor trying to memorize his lines. Certainly lacked the charm and narcissism that was usually associated with those types. "I really don't think the guy that got prosecuted actually did it. Dig some digging and it turns out that he had actually changed his name a couple of times. During the time he was with the cult, he went by Hawkins Davis. One quick google search and turns out -- that's the name of a guy who founded a town not too far from where some of these murders were committed. It's a ghost town now." Kennedy has been keeping her eyes on the road as she relayed all of this but only now does she sneak a look at Seth and at the papers he was holding. Once he gets to the picture of a run down abandoned church, she speaks again.
"I think that might have been one of the churches they used back in the day. Like, as a base of operation. They should be long gone by now but I'm willing to bet that they didn't have enough time to clear their backup location up before they had to escape the country. If I'm right about this, I'm hoping we can uncover some more information. Like the identities of some of their victims or former members." And if her hunch is right, maybe something to support it her idea that the guy behind bars wasn't the head honcho after all.
"Hmph. Well, with the way you're driving, I can't really tell," he shot back, poking his tongue out at her rather immaturely. It was easy to lean into the back and forth that he shared with Kennedy. And he knew for a fact that it wasn't like she was really annoyed by his presence. Even though she liked to pretend that he was a pain in the neck, she still invited him to go along with her on her little investigations and play the Watson to her Sherlock Holmes. Although he would argue that he wasn't as smart as Watson - he was mostly there to act as the brawn to Kennedy's brain. Not that he really minded that. Seth liked helping the reporter out anyway that he could, and it was an exciting task. Not only did he get to take down supernatural bad guys, but he got to help take down human ones too? He was living out his childhood superhero dreams, that was for sure. Seth's large hands reached for the glove box so he could open it like she silently told him too, pulling out the articles, photographs and marked map. He slowly shuffled through each one, listening to her speak while he did so. That shapeshifter hummed at her words, raking his brain for any recollection of that particular case, only to remember it just a few seconds later. He nodded his head, a proud smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Of course I remember. What kind of Watson would I be if I didn't?" He chuckled at his own joke, before quieting down so he could listen to her drawn out explanation. "So what you're telling me is, the guy that was arrested and prosecuted for being a cult leader and murdering people is going under the identity of the actual cult leader? And you want to go to this old, abandoned town to find anything they might have left behind after they ran off?" He asked for clarification, wanting to make sure he had everything straight.
Sergio had developed a habit of always squinting every time Seth came around. Not out of malice or anything. It was an ongoing joke at this point โย the kid had a smile so bright it was almost blinding. "Hey kid." He greets with a nod of his head. It was hard not to develop a soft spot for the young shape-shifter. In many ways, Seth reminded him of a younger version of himself. Back before he let bitterness and anger harden him. Maybe that's one of the reasons he conceded to mentoring the young pup despite them being different species.
"Your usual." That brings him to raise an eyebrow, almost like he had no idea what he's talking about. As if Sergio wasn't the one to introduce Seth to the wonders of a good Dark n' Stormy. "You mean water, right? I'm going to need some ID." That poker face lasts for a solid couple of seconds before he finally cracks a side grin. It was a bad joke, but hey! A joke regardless. "Just playing with ya. Coming right up."
He shifts his attention over to making the drink before adding, "How was the storm over at the rez? You guys doing all right over there?" Sergio probably wouldn't say it out loud but the way his eyebrows pinch together does little to hide the fact that he was worried about Seth.
Seth was glad that Sergio seemed to tolerate, maybe even enjoyed, his presence and being around him. The shapeshifter was a friendly guy, people told him that all the time, but it wasn't all that easy being around him for more than a few hours at a time. He tended to be too high energy and excitable for some people. They couldn't handle being around someone who was as.. perky, as him, for lack of a better term. And as much as he tried to dial it back and control his personality, he couldn't help the fact that he was a little too much to handle at times. A frown spread across the younger male's face and his lips morphed into a pout when Sergio questioned him. "Stop," he whined, dragging the word out. He knew that he was just teasing him, but he still couldn't help but respond in a fashion very much similar to that of a younger brother whining to his older brother. "I look my age, thank you very much," he huffed out, completely lying to himself. Despite his shapeshifter genes leaving him with a large stature and build, Seth had a baby face that hadn't changed much in years.
His expression morphed back into his usual happy and content one, although there was a bit more seriousness in his eyes than usual. "Ah.. It was pretty bad over there.." He answered honestly, his tone conveying how upset he was over the natural disaster. "We're doing our best to get everything cleaned up, but there was a lot of damage. Luckily we didn't lose anyone down on the rez."
