If I tell you that I’m still here, would you believe me?

If I tell you I’ve written a thousand words about you, for you, would you believe me?

If I tell you that you’re still the first thing I think of when love songs play, when sad music finds me, would you believe me?

Or that when I read anything that comes close to us, you’re still the one I yearn for — would you believe me?

You might call it obsession, but I think it’s crueler than that. Maybe it’s a kind of damnation — where you and I keep searching for each other in everyone else, yet are never found.

Like a missing puzzle piece I know exists, but can never quite reach.

And the cruelest truth of all is knowing that we did find each other — and yet fate insists on keeping us apart.

We could blame bad timing. A world collapsing in on itself. War, protests — I could go on. But none of it ever makes sense to me.

Because maybe — just maybe — I’ve been refusing to accept the truth. The bitter reality.

That maybe, you chose the road that didn’t lead to me. You chose not to fight for me. For us.

You chose a life where you and I didn’t make it.
