Aspect Patterns in Astrology
Yod - A yod is an aspect pattern consisting of three planets or points that come together to form a skinny triangle in the natal chart. A yod is often referred to as Finger of Fate or Finger of God. Those with this aspect pattern will experience a number of similar difficult themes or events in their lives in order to truly learn a lesson they were fated to learn in their life. They are constantly given opportunities to overcome the particular recurring obstacles they face until they finally rise above it. This is considered their karmic debt.
Grand Trine - A grand trine consists of the same elemental signs or planets connecting to form an equilateral triangle. You can have a water, fire, earth, or air trine and each pertain to particular gifts or talents. A grand water trine shows talent in creativity, emotional balance, sympathy, and compassion.Ā A grand fire trine shows talent in manifestation, assertion, enthusiasm, and dominance. A grand earth trine shows talent in stability, common sense, grounding, and sensuality. A grand air trine shows talent in communication, self-expression, intelligence, andĀ ideas.
T-Square -Ā Ā AĀ T-squareĀ Ā is formed when opposing points in a natal chart also form a square with another pointĀ or points. The pattern will resemble the letter T. A T-Square is always a blessing and a curse but to different degrees depending on the mode it is in. Cardinal T-Squares show drive, determination, and energy, but are restless, irritable, and aggressive. Fixed T-Squares are enduring, tough, and practical, but stubborn, grudge-holding, and fussy. Mutable T-Squares are intelligent, adaptable, and and sociable, but moody, unpredictable, and impulsive.
Kite - A kite is form when a Grand Trine forms two sextile aspects or points. The result is a pattern that looks like a kite! This often indicates awareness of talents and abilities, as well as maturity, stability, and open-mindedness. Often those with kites are way ahead of their time and are old souls. With this comes the burden of feeling isolated from their peers and their community, typically leading to problems later down the road if not well managed.
Grand Cross - A grand cross is composed of two squares and two oppositions forming to make a hugeĀ āXā that fills the natal chart. This points to intense challenges, difficulties, and obstacles in the nativeās life that makes the person tough, persevering, and wise. These people are very intelligent, observant, and driven. They will typically seek challenges to gain even more experience and advancement.
Mystic Rectangle - A mystic rectangle occurs when two opposite aspects connected with trines or sextiles to form a rectangle with anĀ āXā inside. This usually makes a native very focused on humanity, making politics, society, animals, and earth very important to them. They will usually use their interests and their compassion to work in fields that either serve the world or bring awareness to important causes. Either way, their abilities will go to good use.
Stellium - A stellium occurs when 3 or more planets are in the same sign or house, usually in conjunction to one another. A stellium indicates major focus on one aspect in life such as their appearance, their possessions, their family, their reputation, etc. This can be both rewarding and burdening for the stellium holder depending on how they handle the stellium.Ā
