“Ahoy there! This is the Pequod, bound round the world! Tell them to address all future letters to the Pacific ocean! and this time three years, if I am not at home, tell them to address them to–”
Captain Ahab, Moby-Dick, Chapter 52
“You don't have Nixon to kick around anymore. Because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference.”
Richard Milhous Nixon, November 7, 1962
“Dividing the American people has been my main contribution to the national political scene. I not only plead guilty to this charge, but I am somewhat flattered by it.”
Spiro Theodore Agnew
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
Dwight David Eisenhower, "The Chance For Peace," April 16, 1953
“Never forget, the press is the enemy. The press is the enemy. The press is the enemy. The establishment is the enemy. The professors are the enemy. Professors are the enemy. Write that on the blackboard 100 times and never forget it.”
Richard Milhous Nixon
There is something to be said about how many of us still think sexual submission or femininity is an inherently debasing trait/experience, but I will not say it, because who am I to point these things out?
If you could marry ANY U.S. President or Vice President, who would you marry??? 💍💕🥰
Well, if it were First Ladies, I'd have my answer in a heartbeat--of course I'd go with Mamie Eisenhower!
But since all but Kamala Harris in these options are men, and I certainly wouldn't get along with her due to our differing philosophies and my own horrid temperment, this is quite difficult to answer.
Marriage is scary.
To be very honest, I used to think I'd never love someone enough to marry them until I met @davidaddington. I am not a very romantic person at heart. I also have somewhat unorthodox sexual tastes which cannot be realized in this body.
So I would have to say, I don't really want to marry any of them. Sorry for the disappointment.
spiro agnew was married with 4 kids (3 daughters + 1 son) yet we rarely ever hear about wife and kids at all. strange, isn't it?
*we rarely hear things about Spiro in general. Also one of the kids was named Randy which already lowers my opinion of Agnew.
He was a typical conservative father with more liberal kids. And he cheated on Judy, that much was proven during his court proceedings where his financial wrongdoings were laid out and it became apparent he was using misappropriated funds to pay for gifts to a mistress.
In terms of his family, sometimes it saddens me that he despised his Greek immigrant roots so much in his early life. He even made people call him "Ted" instead of "Spiro." And he broke with the family tradition of naming their firstborn sons "Spiro Theodore" or "Theodore Spiro" depending on the generation. His early life where he was trying desperately to get rid of anything about him that would mark him as the kid of an immigrant really gets at me because I know such things are very common, especially among 20th century Chinese immigrants, some of whom would purposefully not teach their children Chinese in order to facilitate their Americanization.
You told me a while ago you’ve read that Ronald was really into Spiro Agnew and I haven’t come across it much but if you’d be so inclined to tell me- what do you know about their relationship and has Spiro ever said anything in regards to Ronald?
Unfortunately, with a quick search through the materials I have off the top of my head, I have not found much in terms of what Spiro Agnew has said about Ronald Reagan.
This is what Agnew has to say about the hypothetical, very stupid (in my opinion) Rockefeller-Reagan ticket. Source: White Knight: The Rise of Spiro Agnew (Witcover), which admittedly is dated. However, it remains a good resource to scour what contemporary writers had to say about Agnew.
From Republican Populist: Spiro Agnew and the Origins of Donald Trump's America (Holden, Podair, Messitte) we have the following:
This is after Agnew's nolo contendere plea.
This is general information, including Agnew's political banishment post-scandal. Specifically, in 1968, Reagan had this to say:
(Source: White Knight: The Rise of Spiro Agnew)
Here we have political information connecting Agnew with the rise of Republican populism.
And lastly:
Agnew was behaving very pugnaciously in his addresses to the state governors, and of course offended many. And apparently Reagan was fine with the abrasiveness. Oh, Reagan, you never fail to make me laugh.
just to note; Divine Destiny Daily will be on hiatus/cancellation after 31 Jul. I believe I will have to be making preparations & becoming very busy after that date.
