Hermes, son of Zeus and Maia, God of trade, thieves, travelers and Messenger of the Gods
Greek God • Hermes
He was a traveler by heart Since the day he was born, He started to drift from the nest Wanderlust gripped his heart From the first breath he took
He was an adrenaline junkie, Adventure was in his blood To him, serenity was meant to be broken Experience was the only thing That made life worth living

Fleet-footed Friend In the glint from a penny In the luck of the draw In any and every road I see you
Silver-tongued thief In honeyed words In jokes and lies and witty songs In twisted truths I hear you
Winged messenger Son and herald of the King Prince of my heart
O Hermes, I praise you
To Hermes Kthonios
The Fumigation from Storax
Hermes I call, whom Fate decrees to dwell in the dire path which leads to deepest hell O Bakkheios Hermes, progeny divine of Dionysos, parent of the vine, And of celestial Aphrodite Paphian queen, dark eye-lash’d Goddess of a lovely mien: Who constant wand'rest thro’ the sacred feats where hell’s dread empress, Persephone, retreats; To wretched souls the leader of the way when Fate decrees, to regions void of day: Thine is the wand which causes sleep to fly, or lulls to slumb'rous rest the weary eye; For Persephone’s thro’ Tart'rus dark and wide gave thee forever flowing souls to guide. Come, blessed pow'r the sacrifice attend, and grant our mystic works a happy end. – The Orphic Hymns
Hermes Princeps
After so much harm has been inflicted upon the human race, I, Hermes, being the primordial fount, flow forth here as a healing remedy, according to divine decree and assisted by the art.
Let him who can, drink of me. Let him who will, cleanse himself in me. Let him who dares, stir me. Drink, brothers, and live.

agoraeus, your touch makes every store a sanctuary, a haven of coin and possibilities weaving new stories with every potential transaction aided by a stroke of luck and your nimble fingers
do you sing with apollo on the street corners? do you wait with hestia at the train stations? do you favor the pick pockets, the swindlers and the street magicians? do you bless the children of your streets with a kind word and a gold coin?
swift son of maia, do you race along the electronical livewire? we lift our phones in salute of your rapid fire thought information flowing like water we drink through our eyes parched for divinity we didnt know we were yearning for
busy one, you rule over the metropolis lights that never go out hermes, all bus routes lead to you
Greek God • Hermes
He is free in his wildness, he is a wanderer, a drop of free water. He knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. ‘Time’ for him isn’t something to fight against. His life flows clean, with passion, like fresh water.
i thought i heard you laughing on the empty c train last night and i had to laugh along too even the thought of you sets me grinning and tapping a foot to the tune of your giddy glee smile with me, glad-hearted hermes brush stress from my shoulders like ten years of crushing dust did you keep laughing when i skipped across the platform? when i smiled at every stranger? there should be more nights like that i will make sure you always laugh joy loves company too y'know?

Greek, Attic
ca. 480–470 B.C.
Hermes, the messenger god, moves swiftly across this vase on some errand for Zeus, the ruler of the gods. Dressed in traveling clothes with a chlamys (short cloak) and a petasos (broad-brimmed hat), he wears winged sandals and carries a herald’s staff, a kerykeion, which terminates in entwined snakes. The same symbol was carried by Greek heralds as they traveled from city to city.
