Sorry for all you guys here for my research posts but I just realized that we could totally view those truck testes as a modern day version of the "dicks with wings".

Because while outsiders view them as obnoxious symbols of being a dick, I know at least several truck owners with them who view it as the height of comedy and a symbol of belonging to a certain culture and a security in that belonging.

Hey, I'm reblogging this again for the visual aid because you are 100% correct and it has been cracking me up for days seeing this in my notifications.

Started reading a new book on the historical creation of money as a concept (you know, as one does) and this author keeps calling ancient Athenian money "owl of Minerva". Which is the Roman nickname for the coins.

Which is just so funny to me. Like. Not incorrect, sure, but also feels wrong.

I try not to use tarot cards for relationships much on myself because I find for me I already know the answer I'm just being a coward about facing it.

But I have two relationships in particular I really, really needed an outside voice to tell me what I already knew.

Tell me why I got Eight of Cups reversed for BOTH relationship readings? And the card got flipped upside during the shuffle for one of them which is why I pulled it out (because it was, in fact, staring me right in the face) and the second time it fell out mid-shuffle.

I think we need to bring local shrines back. Not in the sense of like, a church, but somewhere in a local community where offerings to the spirits, fae, deceased loved ones, can be left. not too dissimilar to community shrines to local spirits in Japan.

It's kind of funny whenever I bring up the new age cult shit, because a lot of people assume, based on my very science and research based approach to raising awareness of MCAS, that I am now an atheist or completely devoid of any kind of spirituality.

When in reality I'm still a very deeply spiritual person who practices what many people would deem to be witchcraft as a form of spiritual expression. I just don't have unquestioning faith, which is what was expected of me as a kid, and drove so many people in my early years nuts because I refused to accept, "because I say so," as a valid answer.

(God bless my ADHD and the likely ODD that came with it. Oh, you're an authority figure in my life and you're demanding total compliance? Give me a valid reason that makes sense and I'll consider it. You can't? Fuck you, lmao.)

Honestly, the closest way I can describe the way I view it, is like Discworld witchcraft. Never attribute to the magical what can readily be explained by the mundane and always take care of people first.

Like yeah, sure, you can tell me your house is haunted and you want a witch to come deal with it, but if you call me, the first thing I'm going to do is call the fire department to make sure there's not a carbon monoxide leak.

Often, I see many folk in the community asking permission to do things, requiring confirmation that it’s okay to do.

“Should I give this offering to said deity?”

“Is it okay to do this instead of this-“ JUST TRY IT!! SEE HOW IT GOES!!

We have to accept the possibility of trial and error, and acknowledge the fact that it’s okay to do things our own way. It may yield the same results as another, for its intentions that matter after all in most cases; it doesn’t hurt to try something new (as long as, obviously, it’s not an act that will harm oneself or any other living thing)

Talking to a someone who is also into occult stuff: Yea, I have weird feelings about calling it a "religion" or "spirituality". I consider myself a soft animist soft polytheist, but divinity is a construct and doesn't necessarily imply significance over other spirits, with a focus on nature energy.
