Callum and Luca didn’t want to surface.
Their heavy rubber suits were now warm and slippery on the inside.
They kept their gloved hands linked as they descended deeper into the clear fjord lake. After a few minutes of slow exploration, Luca suddenly squeezed Callum’s hand and pointed forward.
There, resting on a rocky ledge in about 12 meters of water, was something unexpected:
An old, beautifully brass diving helmet — a classic Mark V model — sitting upright like it had been placed there on purpose. Next to it was a small sign, made of tarnished brass.
“To whoever finds this:
May you find someone worth staying underwater with.

Luca’s eyes softened behind his mask. He looked at Callum and pressed their masks together, bubbles mixing between them.
Luca (muffled, emotional):
“They were like us…”
Callum nodded. The symbolism wasn’t lost on either of them — two people who had once shared this same love for being sealed deep underwater.
They stayed down there for almost an hour, swimming slowly, occasionally stroking each other’s rubber-covered bodies.
When they finally surfaced near the cabin’s small dock, they were both hard. As they climbed out of the water, they stood on the wooden pier, still fully sealed, looking at each other's.
Callum:
“I don’t want to take the suits off yet.”
