TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! Acts 16:25-26 says, "But at midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's chains were loosed." It may seem like or feels like when we have lost all hope and don't know what to do, that's when God does His best deliverance or restoration. In the Bible, you will read where it says, "but at midnight," but God, in the fiery furnace and God, showed up; in the Lions' den, God appeared and shut the Lions' mouth. In these three situations, we notice they all had something in common; they were already in the middle of a crisis, but they were either in prayer or worshipping God, not being anxious or worried, totally trusting God's redemptive power. Be still, and know that God has every situation under control, even if it seems like it is out of control. STAND STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD! {Exodus 14:13-14}. Acts 1:8 says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest parts of the earth." Every human being desires to be successful and powerful, financially, physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. How we go about trying to gain this success and power almost always ends up costing us, but having the Holy Spirit's power, which is given to us by our Heavenly Father, is by far more rewarding and costs us nothing. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can overcome the trials and tribulations of this world while maintaining peace amid the storm. Luke 10:19 says, "We will be able to trample on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. Remember to hide God's word in your heart, which will help you be prosperous and successful. Now, that's POWER! Surrender your life to Christ, and you will receive it. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! 2 Kings 5:9-10 says, So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha's house. Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, "Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored, and you will be cleansed." The story of Naaman, in this chapter, tells us how angry he got after being told to wash in the river in Israel. He thought where he is from had better and cleaner waters than in all of Israel. So why should he submit himself to such waters? After all, he is better than that. Let us look at modern-day scenarios; What if God asks you to do something that you think is beneath you, or better yet, you believe there is no way God will ask you to give of yourself, especially after such atrocities that you have already gone through? Remember, Elisha was a man of God, and he represented God in those days; Today, God speaks to us via His Holy Spirit that dwells in us. Like Naaman was told to wash by Elisha, today God is saying, go, do, or wants us to obey His word. Just because it may not be the status quo, or you are not doing the big things for everyone to see, means God is not speaking. Like Naaman, what do you have to lose? Just wash and be clean; Remain blameless, be still, trust Him and dip your seven times. The outcome will be amazing. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! Galatians 1:10 says, " Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings or God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ." Living our life for God's approval is often misconstrued to please our fellow human beings. We may not notice it or think of it that way, but what we do in our walk with Christ always reflects what others may think or how the brethren will respond. But do we listen to the Holy Spirit who dwells within us to guide us into all truth? If we are children of God, our response would be to the voice of God seeking to please Him in everything we do in our lives; John 10:27-28 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand." To listen to man's voice and not God is very telling of whom we are serving. Our lives should have the audience of one, God, of whose approval we seek. Let us be faithful servants of God by seeking His approval. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! Ephesians 2:4-5 says, "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ by grace you have been saved." Do we understand what it means by God's Mercy and Grace? Let us say we have done the most despicable things that we know the result is punishable, but yet we are pardoned, and our consequence of going to jail is no more. We are now free, but not only free, but it is also like we have never done anything wrong. It's like owing three million dollars, and we are financially embarrassed. Yet when we go to our creditors, they say our debt has been paid, and we now have good credit. That's God's Mercy and Grace in action. Mercy is God withholding from us what we do deserve, and Grace is God giving to us what we don't deserve. Let us give God thanks for His Mercy and Grace; His unmerited favour is Mercy, but Grace is the empowering presence of God. Thank God for His favour and His empowerment in our lives today. Ezekiel 37:3-5 says, "And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live." God took Ezekiel to a valley with thousand of dry bones and asked him a question, "Can these dry bones live?" Of course, he knew within himself; they were dead, but God knows all things. He was then given a command to prophesy to the bones to live, come alive again, and he did. You know what happens next; a mighty army came out of the dry bones. What are your dry bones today? Have you been feeling inadequate or too old or maybe too young? Or you may have failed many times and thought it is over for you, and there is no way you can accomplish anything at this time. Or some may say, my ship has sailed. Let us be reminded; once there is life, there is hope. God has allowed you to be here in this time for a purpose, and you must fulfil it. Moses was eighty years old when God called him, and Jehoash was seven when he became a king and reign for forty years. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! John 12:24 says, "I can guarantee this truth: A single grain of wheat doesn't produce anything unless it is planted in the ground and dies. If it dies, it will produce a lot of grain." If you feel like you are buried under a pile of dirt and can't see your way? Don't worry; a seed must die to bring forth fruit. God allows us to be buried as seeds in this world to bring forth much fruit. He is your husbandman, and He will nurture you to maturity. So, if we find ourselves ridiculed, persecuted, despised, or even displaced, rest assured God has everything in control. It is our resting period that God has allowed, dying to self and allowing God to take over. So rest in God, knowing He restores us to a place much higher than we were before as He strengthens us. The enemy may think he has buried us, but God is raising us up! TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! Job 1:6-9 says, "One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them. The Lord said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Satan answered the Lord, "From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it." Then the Lord said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil." God was having a conversation with Satan about Job, and of course, Satan knows how important Job was to God, but Satan could not touch Job without God's permission. Keep in mind nothing happens on earth without Gods' knowledge. Know how valuable you are to God, and the greater the responsibility, the attacks are more intense. Remember, the enemy cannot harm or touch you without Gods' permission, and sometimes it happens because God is strengthening your faith or chastising you. Hebrews 12:6 says, whom He loves, He disciplines. Also, Gods' chastisement is not a punishment but a way to make us better or keep us safe from harm. God loves to show us off to the enemy. What is God saying about you? Remember, you are valuable to God. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! Job 26:14 says, "And these are but the outer fringe of His works; how faint the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?" Job 26: 5-8 says, "The souls of the dead tremble beneath the water, and so do the creatures living there. Sheol is naked in God's presence, and Abaddon has no clothing. "He stretches out His heavens over space. He hangs the earth on nothing whatsoever. He holds the water in His thick clouds, and the clouds don't even split under its weight. This scripture sounds very poetic, yet it is speaking of our GOD. It tells us of His greatness and His power. This Great Big Wonderful God looked down the streams of time and thought of you and me. Psalm 139:13 says, "He alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother." So how big is our God? Have you ever looked at a plane in the sky and noticed how small it seems, and as it gets closer to you, you begin to see the bigness of the aircraft? Well, so is our God. The Closer you get to Him, the more time you spend with Him, you will see How big and great He is to you. It's time to get closer to God to see His greatness and power. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! John 14:27 says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid." Don't worry, it's going to be okay; or Do not let your heart be troubled or afraid. How many times have we heard that statement? It always sounds like a cliche. "The next best thing to say to someone, going through a rough time." It almost seems like a mindless statement, with no particular thought to the information, but only to make the person feel good. That statement is not a cliche but a profound and true statement made by our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. Christ told us in him we will have Peace and trouble in the world, but He also said not to worry because He has overcome the world. He told us we would have Peace in Him because He is the Prince of Peace. It's not the kind of Peace we get from the world; He said it's a peace that transcends your imagination. God's Peace is so amazing; no one can take it from you or can give it to you. If you rely on the Peace of the world, you will always have to hear or see to be peaceful, but the Peace of God is unique because it's on the inside. Allow God's Peace on the inside; it will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Exodus 14:21-22 says, "Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left." Some of us may know the story of the Israelites facing the red sea, and when they looked up, they saw Pharaoh's army behind them. You can imagine the pandemonium in the Israelites camp; The fear of what will happen to them now. They even complained to Moses that they told him to leave them alone and let them serve the Egyptians. Moses reassured them everything would be alright, and to Stand firm, and they will see the deliverance of the Lord; "because the Egyptians they see they will never see again. The Lord will fight for them, and they need to be still." What happened next is still a wonder to many today. God told Moses to tell the Israelites to start moving and stretch out his rod over the Red Sea so that the Israelites could go through the sea on dry ground. The Israelites crossed the red sea, and Pharaoh and his army drowned that day. Today you may be facing your red sea, and looking back, you can also see the Pharaoh closing in on you. Remember, all Moses had was a rod, something that seemed insignificant to others but powerful in the hands of God. What do you have in your possession that may seem significant, even to you, but if you allow God to take over, it will be powerful enough to take you across your red sea and watch the Pharaoh and the armies drowned behind you. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! Luke 9:49-50 says, "John replied, "Master, we saw someone forcing demons out of a person by using the power and authority of your name. We tried to stop him because he was not one of us." Jesus said to him, "Don't stop him! Whoever isn't against you is for you." Looking at this scripture brings back a memory of my first encounter with someone I met years ago; He was an older gentleman with locs. Whenever I would see him, he would call out to me, saying, "hey brother, God bless you, or Praise the Lord, brother." I would smile and wave back to him. In my mind, I would say how dear he call God's name in vain by saying, God bless me or Praise the Lord. He is not even a Christian. Then one day, he showed up at my church(let's give him the name John). John sang the songs we were singing and clapped with joy; in my church, we never clapped, but John did. He always seemed happy and excited about God, but I had judged him. by saying he was not a Christian, just because of his locs; he was not one of us. One day I found out John did street evangelism and led people to Christ. Indeed he was one of us, but I judged him because of his locs. Yes, he did invite us to do street ministry with him. As Christians or disciples of Christ, we need to be aware, just because they worship a different day or dress differently; maybe speak in tongues or don't speak in tongues. Once they are declaring the word of God and sharing the gospel, who are we to judge them. They are one of us. Let us pray for them, and with them, and encourage them to keep on doing what they are doing. The harvest is ripe, and the labours are few. As disciples of Christ, we are often judging one another. TO GOD BE THE GLORY, EVERYONE! John 8:10-11 says, "Then Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Where did they go? Has anyone condemned you?” The woman answered, “No one, sir.” Jesus said, “I don’t condemn you either. Go! From now on, don’t sin.” The scribes and Pharisees brought the woman to Jesus Christ, condemning her because she was caught in an adulterous act. It is highly possible she was feeling worthless, knowing the consequence would be her being stoned to death. What she did not know was, Jesus was not about to cast a judgement on her but to deliver and show her, her worth. Jesus asked about her accusers and then declared His righteous judgement which is, no condemnation, and then He said to her go and sin no more. He was telling her, know your value and know your worth. A hundred-dollar bill can be crushed in mud and have a few holes, possibly even torn, and if you took it to the bank, it would never have lost its value. Some of us may look at what we would call rejected and dejected people and make a judgement of no value, but keep in mind, to God, they are the apple of His eye. So no matter how you feel or what one may think or say about you, know your worth and value. You are still the apple of God's eye. PRAISE THE LORD, EVERYONE! Ephesians 4:29 says, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." We often feel that not using obscene language in conversation with someone is wholesome for ones' ear. However, we never stop to think that unwholesome talk or conversations can also be gossiping, making negative comments about someone else or yourself, even how we respond to someone. Colossians 4:6 says, "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt," meaning, Everything you say should be kind and well thought out. Let us always aim to have kind or positive words coming out of our mouths that can be helpful not only to someone else but also to ourselves. Remember, words have power, and death and life are in the power of the tongue. You can either speak life or death to someone, yourself, a situation or a condition with your words. Let your words and comments always be such that it edifies or benefits both you and your listener.
