Jongsook Kim: Utopia 10 (2012) mixed media on canvas, made with Swarovski's cut crystals
Very nicely finished wood cladding structure in the exposed concrete, highlighted horizontal concrete sections, embrasure-like windows, and massive volume with rounded corners: The Claridge Hotel is one of the most exemplary buildings of Brutalism in Spain. Still, it is abandoned since the 90s and in bad condition, even though the residents of Cuenca have been trying for years to rehabilitate the building. At least in 2015, the building had a time to shine again and functioned as a set for the movie A Perfect Day by Fernando León de Aranoa. More info in the database entry on our website!
