Dear anon, this is a subject I have thought on much in recent times. I won’t claim my answers are absolute, especially since the game will set a number of kids the player can have and all marriage candidates will be open to having that number of children. For this is how farming sims work. BUT. Below are my own opinions…
Adeline wants one perfect, beautiful only child. She feels she’d be the best parent she can be if she’s able to focus on developing one little human to the best of her ability. She’s also really busy. She ALSO doesn’t want to complicate any matters of inheritance, since she will be the next Baron. One kid is ideal.
If you’d asked Balor this question before he came to Mistria, the answer would be a hard ZERO. He has changed his mind in light of his new circumstances (married to the love of his life and not living in a cart). He’s kinda flexible on number but he does want at least one. He thinks two sounds about right!
Caldarus he does not have a specific number in mind, but he would love to give you children and raise a family together.Maybe two or three young, only since that seems to be the average for human couples? He won’t deny you if you want more, and he won’t argue if you only want one. He doesn’t concern himself with human concepts of what makes a family “too big” or “too small.” That said, if it’s up to him…he’d somewhat prefer the former.
In her daydreams, Celine always saw herself with one or two children. She doesn’t want a whole pack of little ones running around, despite being a very family-oriented gal. She wants to be able to give each of her children a lot of individual attention…aaaand she expects they’ll be unholy terrors in their early years just like her and Dell. So she’d like to keep the number small.
Eiland did not necessarily see himself as a father throughout his early life, but he’s also always known he would be a pretty good one. He comes around to the idea more and more the longer he’s with you. He kind of just wants one, but he’s totally open to more...to an extent. He doesn’t think he could handle more than three. That’s so many little ones to be keeping track of in the field. That’s too many little feet that could fall in a hole on a dig site. He would like a number of children he could carry in his arms if need be.
Hayden is the ultimate future father. He makes it very clear from the start that he’s always wanted a *big* family. If his partner can’t have biological children, that’s fine, but in that case Hayden WILL want to pursue adoption. He might suggest this even if you can get pregnant, because he knows that carrying a child is hard on the body, and you’ll need to stay on your feet to keep up with the Hayden Horde. He just loves kids. He’s aiming for five or six.
March pretends he doesn’t want kids for a while. Acts SUPER uptight about birth control and family planning. Then one day, he realizes that if you have kids together, you basically can’t leave Mistria (and him) behind. This is extremely appealing to Mr. Abandonment Issues. Once he starts, he realizes that he loves being a dad and he's good at it, so you wind up having like….five kids.
NONE, says Juniper. Having her own children is not really part of her plan. She’s more the cool fun witchy auntie type…but she has a secret soft spot for kiddos. If she gets knocked up, it will be by accident, but she’ll be surprisingly positive about it—she gets her own mini-me! She also won’t be particularly remiss about having no kids. She gets pestered by other peoples’ children often enough.
Reina has always wanted a family and she has always wanted exactly three children, just like how she grew up. She won’t be terribly upset if a fourth kid slips into the mix somehow. She would like them all to be closer in age than she is to Luc and Maple, though. Reina does not want one of her children to wind up becoming a sort of “third parent” to the younger ones, since that kiiiind of happened with her.
Ryis definitely wants to be a dad. He’s always assumed he would have a family of his own someday. He’s thinking…maybe three kids? Two is alright, too. But he would want his kids to have siblings for sure, since he grew up with a whole pile of doting sisters. The concept of growing up solo is foreign to Ryis.
Valen doesn’t have a strong desire to be a mother. It’s unlikely that she would ever suggest starting a family. She’s very careful about using birth control and the chances of her slipping up there are slim to none. Valen isn’t going to have kids of her own unless her partner really, really wants it, and if they do, the kids will likely be adopted. She will not be getting pregnant, in any case.
so the roles are switched up and the bachelorette/ bachelors have to seduce the farmer ruining around town doing all the request on the board five minutes after they were posted how they go about it?

Far be it for Adeline to complain about your productivity. Seeing you run around town knocking out villager requests at the speed of light should warm her heart, and it does, but it also makes her feel a little…overlooked. Adeline knows that your packed agenda is partly her own fault. She is, after all, the one who brought you here in the first place for the purpose of fixing the town’s many troubles. And you’ve done a fantastic job of it so far! Adeline just didn’t anticipate how much she herself would long to find a consistent slot in your schedule, a special place just for her. Hard work is rewarded with more work, as it always goes, and so the more you accomplish for the Lady of Mistria, the less free time you have to spend with her. Adeline comes up with a very Adeline sort of solution: meetings. You simply must update her on your progress in detail, and no, a letter will not suffice. Come to the mansion. There will be tea and lemon cakes. And if these meetings start to run rather long and late into the night, well, it’s certainly no imposition.

Juniper pretends she does not notice or care. She has a business to run, and she knows damn well she provides a service you need. With all that sweat you work up from farming (which definitely does NOT make Juniper feel funny in any way) you need a good bath more than just about anyone in town. Yes. So surely you will be visiting her—er, the Bathhouse very often. Except then you don’t. You must be rinsing off at home or maybe just jumping in a pond, because you don’t look completely awful as you run all around town doing goodness-knows-what. Juniper would never admit it but she’s a little offended. If pressed, she’d claim it’s because you’re denying her a paying customer. But it’s not that, not really. She’s pissy because you’re denying her the pleasure of getting a convenient chance to speak with you and learn more about you without needing to admit she wants that in the first place. So, don’t be surprised if you suddenly start seeing a peculiar spike in request board postings from Juniper. She’s just going right to the source!

It drives March crazy. There once was a time he could hardly get rid of this annoying, layabout farmer, always hovering around his forge and trekking water into his showroom and pestering him to no end when you should have been shoveling dirt or…whatever you do. He has come to realize that you do quite a lot. So much so, in fact, that you don’t even seem to notice how hard March is working. You don’t even stop to check out how good his arms look in a downswing. And he’s been working on a sword—something you said you found fascinating. Yet you’re not even looking. March is extremely pressed and determined to act completely unbothered. Except he can’t. You will be seeing him. He will be certain to be outside forging at the exact time he’s found you most consistently pass by his forge, whether it be rain or shine, and he’ll pretend that he needs a little break in the hopes you might come over. Every Friday night, the seat next to you at the inn will manage to become occupied by none other than March. Eventually he cracks just a little and says (not asks) that he can walk you home.

Ryis is there for you. Always there for you. Everywhere. You’re quite preoccupied with your endless list of tasks, but you might start to wonder how Ryis seems to be exactly where you need him all the time. You realize you’ve run out of time to chop wood for the day? Ryis is at the woodworking station, axe in hand. You find you just can’t squeeze in that last errand? Well, how convenient! Ryis was actually just heading to that part of town anyway! This is his way of remaining relevant to you even when you’re so busy you hardly have time for yourself, let alone maintaining friendships or building relationships. But it does seem to Ryis like things have gone a little too far; it can’t be healthy for you to be this busy every single day. He grows worried when he notices you not even stopping for meals. Fixing up the town is important, for sure, but Ryis can take a lot of the heavy lifting off your hands for a minute, if only you’d let him. He knows that if he were to offer though, you’d just say you’ve got it. He tries a more subtle approach: becoming the break instead of reducing the work. He tempts you with picnics and birdwatching trips by asking with so much pure-hearted enthusiasm that you can’t tell him no. He says he needs you to spot him on some woodworking, which means you’ll be standing still and watching. Clever guy, that Ryis.
