Oh my God, I LOVE it when guys explain code to me, the intricacies of which I can’t even see, much less understand . I LOVE it, PLEASE keep going.
We were walking through Tompkins Square Park, Matt and I, and passed a young couple sitting on a bench. The guy - tattooed on the neck and hands - was holding onto his girl, who was sprawled across his lap, her head lolled back. She was beautiful, with clear, pale skin and long dark hair. Her unconscious face revealed total, blissful oblivion. The guy’s head was tilted back against the bench, equally blissed out. But the tenderness between them was real.
“Now that,” Matt said. “That’s what I’ve been trying to explain to you. That is real junkie love.”

This is going to make me sound like an asshole, but I just butt-dialed my Hollywood agent.Twice.
“Well I’m specialized in a certain section of chemical analysis…” GOD shut UP
The only way I have to describe it, is, like when you plug in your hair dryer but your roommate already has the coffeemaker and the curling iron going, so the power in the whole apartment shuts off.
"You always like to say that if you were young and starting out again, you'd do this or you'd do that, but I don't think anybody seriously means it and it's not going to happen anyway. I took myself out of the world early on, and looking back now I don't think I ever got close to anybody, and of course you get judged for that... But what everybody  needs to understand, you get to a point where you can't do anything about who you are anymore. And the same applies to other people, so that's who you're dealing with. And then the best you can hope for is not to do anybody damage, and good luck with that. I don't know, maybe I'm just talking to myself here; Who made me the big authority on what everybody needs to understand? It could be that I never got the memo, and that it's all about love, so-called, but am I the only one? You'd hate to think so."
-David Gates, "The Locals"
Too good not to "share."
“Give me the Guess Who. They have the COURAGE to be drunken buffoons... which makes them poetic.”
my kind of roommate
“Looking for a similar person to share it, so we can get along, by not socializing.”
I guess I can retire now guys.
I lost a package of Chuckles in my room and it took about a day to find it. Almost every moment spent looking made me feel more and more like an addict frantically searching for tabledust.Â
The most terrifying words of our time are “You have 9 new voicemails.“
oh god oh god. Finishing up my Dad’s Vietnam letters:
“I somehow came across Norman Mailer’s “An American Dream” so I read it. If you haven’t don’t bother. I think much of the contemporary stuff being written is trash.”
Well, now I know where it comes from, because almost fifty years later, I am saying basically these same things, but with more snark, and the setting has changed to various Brooklyn bars instead of Bien Hoa.
Hai! No heat again, hope I freeze soon!
