How I broke up with Paper

These past few months have been hard for me. I was lucky enough to get a new iPad; but was I happy? I knew what it would do to me and I wasn't sure I wanted to go through all of it again. But I did. I put my big person pants on and did it. I kept my fingers crossed as I found the Paper app. Open. Nothing! And then I cried. "Why have they not figured this out? Am I forever doomed to burn my sketchbooks every time I want to upgrade? Why does this keep happening to me?!" I had had it. I was done. I couldn't even look at Paper without getting mad. I moved Paper out of my favorites and just left it there to think about what it had done to me. To us, really. That afternoon, I went out and bought fancy new pens and notebooks. I was moving on. Over the following months, my sketchbooks filled and Paper stayed in its standard form. I didn't change any covers, create any new books. It was still a sore subject and I did a good job of avoiding it. Eventually, we started talking again. At first, it was little notes. Like little secrets in the night. I didn't dare become too attached again. Our wounds were still too fresh. That was about a month ago. We have been trying to hang out more; recently. Meet up over coffee or with dessert. Little things, nothing too serious. We are just trying to get reacquainted. It's slow going, but it feels right. I don't know if we will ever be the same; but we have grown. I think we might understand each other better now.
