Good news! My wife’s parents decided to help pay for a credit. We’re having another baby this spring!

Our daughter keeps asking me if the reason my wife and I are arguing so often is that she isn’t small anymore. Does anyone have advice on explaining to her that that isn’t the problem, the problem is that I keep asking for unreasonable things? I’m worried that if I try to explain it to her I’ll only make things worse.

Is there something unusually dangerous about your area? I mean, I live in a yellow neighborhood, so it's not exactly the same, but I don't know a single person who wasn't using the train by the time they were in school.

The crime rate is higher, since it’s a grey neighborhood, but most of the crimes are muggings and she's too young to carry valuables.

That's... not usual, no. How is your kid supposed to get to school if they can't take the train? They're two years old, not two months.

One of us brings her over before going to work. 

I don’t know if I’m being unreasonable. Just because my parents let me take the train alone when I was her age doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. I wouldn’t want to have her get hurt because I pressed the issue.

what is your opinion on bears

Sometimes my students try to write stories with them, and it’s hilarious how badly they get them wrong. I read a book about them once so I could fact check their stories, and wow. This is why doing your research is important!

I’m not sure what started the bear trend, I think there was a cartoon series a while back with talking bears or something.

Have you heard the theory that the reds panicked when the boats were delayed, because they thought Oyand's government was planning to kill them like Rivik did?

Yeah, I have. It seems pretty sketchy to me, honestly. I mean, reds are really stupid, and that sort of pattern matching seems beyond their capabilities. 

Besides, even if that is what happened, it doesn’t affect whether cleaning is a good idea. If reds are going to riot because the boats are a few minutes late, what else are they going to riot over? Like, when I got to the train station two days ago, it took two minutes for the train to get there. I didn’t start murdering train station staff. If they’re going to riot over every little thing, then getting rid of them now just isn’t worth the risk.

What happened in Oyand was a tragedy, but cleaning still has a better long-term track record than any other method of removing reds from a country.

Enough countries are red-free now that everyone else can bide their time and wait for robots. Sure, it sucks how they’ll have to keep having reds, but it’s better than risking a worse massacre the next time reds go attacking the people who are trying to help them get cleaned for no fucking reason other than wanting us to suffer.

I supported cleaning before, but now I’m not so sure. If it doesn’t even prevent riots, what’s the fucking point? And it’s ridiculous for Miolee to steal our money, when the reds were the ones who started it.

Younger is starting med specialist school next season. They’ve been tutoring some of their classmates trying to raise the money for board, but we’re probably going to have to chip in. The school they’re going to normally has scholarships for out-of-city students, but, well, funding was cut after the incident.

They’re hoping to be a heart surgeon.
