i'm an entp but don't actually know what that means;; do you?
i do!! an ENTP is a type in the meyers briggs type indicator. it's often nicknamed the debater, though i'm unsure where that particular name originates. being an entp means four things, or the four functions in your function stack!:
your dominant function, or the one you use the most, is Extroverted Intuition (Ne): we have the same dominant function!! poggers. people who use ne are often very very creative. it's usually characterized by having many branching ideas. i've heard it once described like a tree. someone with ne will have their tree be a bit short, but it grows in many directions. they have so many ideas, they don't quite know what to do with them, and this can lead to ne doms being easily distracted people. for comparison, those with the opposite function (Ni) are very focused on the "bigger picture" the types with ne doms are ENTPs (you!) and ENFPs
your auxillary funtion is Introverted Thinking (Ti): ti is one's desire to understand how things work in the world. A ti users way of thinking is very exploratory; they'll look at something and their immediate thought is "i wonder how that works..." and their instinct is to find out! while users of the opposite function (Te) are very rational and use information and knowledge as a tool for solving problems, a ti user sees the information itself as its own treasure. when solving problems, Ti users will comb through every possibility and idea before their conclusion, which can... sometimes backfire. overall, ti's craving for knowledge is a wonderful, beautiful thing.
next up is your tertiary function, Extroverted Feeling! (Fe): a Fe users motto tends to be "if you're happy, i'm happy". when making decisions, Fe users have a very strong connection to values in a society and what's going to be the best for everybody. Fe users are often stereotyped as pushovers who push down any sort of emotion, but that's not always the case (especially for ENTPs). this just means that they hold the well-being of others very high, but it can be damaging if it gets too high over one's own. my main advice for all Fe users, and everybody really, is this:
don't beat yourself up if not everybody likes you. you don't even like everybody.
(that quote isn't mine; i heard it somewhere and it just really stuck with me)
an ENTP's inferior (final) function is Introverted Sensing (Si): Si is... an interesting function. apologies that this is the function i probably know the least about (and the one i'm currently beginning to research!). if i recall correctly, though, Si users tend to have a strong connection to their memories and are very nostalgic.
i hope this helps and that it wasn't too rambly anon!!!!!!!!!! 💖
