Welcome to England! This is the place where I will be calling home for the next four months. A feeling of surrealism hit me when I first explored the castle grounds - I couldn't believe it. It looks like I ripped a page out of Harry Potter and projected it into reality.
Obviously the staircases do not magically rearrange itself, nor do we have food magically appearing at our plates... But there are rumours of two spirits that roam the castle: One being the Headless Drummer Boy (my very own Nearly Headless Nick!) and the other being the Grey Lady.
The pictures posted here are only a fraction of how beautiful this place really is. At this point, I was still trying to get myself familiarized with my new Nikon D7000 (who has time to read the manual?)

The official launch of my travel diary?
I feel like my adventures in Europe should be documented in some kind of way, before it becomes a distant figment of my memory, made up of only pictures and Facebook status updates. Couldn't think of a better time to reactivate my long-neglected tumblr account.
To those who don't know me personally, I am currently on exchange in the UK, travelling continental Europe in between essays, presentations, exams, and field studies.
With almost all social media websites, I tend to lose interest and/or patience quite quickly. I am going to refrain from making any real commitment to this "travel diary" because let's face it: I am not the most blog-savvy person.
Carrying a big DSLR camera on top of my overstuffed backpack and many layers of sweaters has not been the most convenient, but the pictures are most definitely worth it. My amateur photography skills are far from impressive, but I certainly do hope you get a kick out of it as much as I do.
