Album Review ~ Gallows – Gallows

 Someone said that Gallows were over, that they wouldn't last. Well, now whoever said that has to bite his tongue after listening to this album.

It's a new beginning for the band. After Frank Carter left, they promptly found a new vocalist, Wade MacNeil (Alexisonfire), and theyreleased a bunch of songs of all due respect.

Personally, I have this feeling as if it were their first album and I don't think it is just my impression.  

The album opens with "Victim Culture", angry, and powerful.

Inevitable guitar riffs remind you of who Gallows were and who Gallows still are. The voice has changed but the music is the same old kickass story.

"Last June", the first single, seems to have no chance against songs like "Vapid Adolescent Blues", which has made to the top three for me.

Then, should we talk about the contrast of MacNeil's voice with the child's one at the end of the song "Cult of Mary"?

"Cross of Lorraine", eleventh and last song closes the album with energy that has characterized their career and which I hope will characterize the coming years.

  Rating: 8.5 / 10
