Actually, fun fact, you don’t need to have been alive for the creation of a song to enjoy it. You can check the rule book and everything, not a single law about how old you have to be to listen to supermassive black hole. At least on earth. I’ll have you know I’m quite young for my rank.

Through close observation and extensive testing, I’ve been seeing more and more success in predicting how the substance will respond to different stimuli, including accounting for its cycles. All in all, studies are going quite well and I’ll be starting to test its capabilities outside of just consuming matter.

Well fuck if this isn’t the most weirdly relieving thing to see after days of quantum mathematics and wrestling with this stupid little pod. Quick PSA: black holes are actually the many putrid assholes of space Satan because I have no better hypothesis than that for why they have to be so infuriating to navigate. With that little misadventure out of the way though, I’m vaguely less unhappy to report to the second most exasperating thing in the universe that I’m back on track for the mission.

Indeed. Down to its code it’s really quite baffling but as long as it’s helping I won’t complain. I think it might actually be harder to figure out why this thing works the way it does over the eldritch alien technology I’m actually studying.

My situation? The whole floating through space in a tiny little pod thing? I can’t tell you everything for safety reasons and I don’t know how much of my ranting you’ve already seen but basically I was on a mission but the ship got wrecked... As far as I know, I’m the only one who escaped.

Really, I’m not even sure why this particular signal is as strong as it is out here in the middle of nowhere but it’s not even the most significant way it contradicts reasonable expectations. I’m lucky to have it really. It’s saved my life already and I’m sure that without it my sanity would be more in shambles than it already.

Whatever you’re comfortable with is fine with me. Hobbies? Interests? The weather? Or I could tell you about myself if you want.

It’s alright. Not like it’s your fault. In fact... I can’t think of a way to make it not sound a little strange, but it’d actually be a big help if you could just... keep talking to me? I’ve been confined to a small space with only this website for communication for nearly a month now. I’d really appreciate some conversation, especially with another human.

I mean, I don’t have a very keen hand at technology, nor would I know who to relay a message to, and also I don’t think we have the same Earth

Sounds kind of sketchy. Do you have the rest of your memories? Were you kidnapped or something? But yeah, I guess if you don’t even know how you got there and it doesn’t seem like a planet used to that sort of thing it might be awkward. I guess you could try to find and decipher whatever they have for kids education about the system. 

I figured it was a long shot but I had to try. It’d be nice just to tell them what happened, but... Well I guess it’ll just have to wait.

A bit. There’s also graduation from incubation receptacle anniversary but that’s not really shorter. It’s a little more accurate but “test tubes” is a classic.
