Why is it that whenever I tell people (or more accurately my parents tell ppl lol) that I’m into languages and linguistics they have to 1) tell me about how much money I could make if I learned Mandarin, 2) tell me how horrible they did in their high school Spanish class, and 3) try and tell me something about languages that almost always is a gross stereotype. Every. Time.
