Antonio bounced on his toes excitedly.  “That sounds like fun!!  I missed the barbeques while I was away.”  At that moment the barista called their orders up and Antonio grabbed the two cups of coffee, handing Jack his.  “Let’s go!”

“Thanks.” Jack smiled as he took his coffee and rubbed his eyes carefully, trying not to smudge the makeup on them, “So, you wanna just head straight for the house?” he asked

Antonio shrugged.  “I’m fine with whatever you wanna do.  We can go pick up some cookie or something to share with the guys?”  The smaller boy really just enjoyed spending time with Jack, no matter what they were doing.

“Latte with double espresso please."Jack replied as he put Antonio down to get the money from his wallet.

"Do you have any plans on what you’re doing after this?” Jack asked, moving off to the side to wait

Antonio shook his head and leaned against the wall.  “I was thinking about heading to the House to say hi to the rest of the guys.”  He went back to fussing with his hair.  “You have class now?”

“I think it would look nice, though you might need to bleach your hair first depending on what colour you wanna go.” Jack replied, “I had to bleach mine.”

Antonio nodded towards the counter.  “I think it’s your turn.”  He walked up to the counter and greeted the barista.  “Morning!  Could I get a….white mocha?  Large, please!”  He smiled brightly.  “And whatever my friend wants.”  He gestured to Jack.

“Maybe for summer break we can do something together.” Jack replied, his cheeks warming and a soft smile rising on his lips as Antonio played with his hair, “I know, but I don’t like the idea of sleeping on a plane. You don’t have to worry so much, Toni, but don’t let me fall asleep standing in line here.”

Antonio playfully tugged at Jack’s hair.  “Stay awake!”  He giggled and went back to playing with the red strands.  “You really have nice hair.”  He began to work a couple locks into a small braid.  “It’s soft and a good length and really shiny.”

Jack whined as his hair was pulled, “I’m awake, I’m awake.” He huffed, though couldn’t help but smile at the way Antonio braided his hair, “You think? I’m surprised it’s not all dry and dead from dyeing it so much.” he laughed softly

Antonio turned his attention to his own mop of curls.  “Do you think I should dye my hair?  That seems like it would be fun...”  He twirled a lock around his pointer finger, lost in thought.

Antonio spotted a shock of red hair from across the campus green. “Jack!!” He shouted, momentarily oblivious to everyone else around him. He’d spent a semester abroad and was excited to see his best friend for the first time in months.

Jack was already tired from his journey back to university that had started in the early hours of the morning just so he could get settled in before the rest of the hockey house got back. He was just on his way to get coffee from the nearest cafe when he heard someone shouting his name. Turning, Jack immediately perked up when he saw Antonio, a smile spreading across his tired face, “Hey, Toni!”

Antonio ran to his friend, jumping up and wrapping himself completely around Jack.  “How was your Spring?”  He asked excitedly, jumping down and grinning brightly.  “Mine was amazing!”  Without meaning to, the younger boy began babbling on and on about his semester in Spain.

Jack laughed softly, stumbling a bit as Toni leapt onto him. Before he had a chance to say anything, Toni was already off rambling about Spain. Even if he had wanted to say something important, he would’ve let Toni carry on anyways, just happy to his rambling.

“That sounds awesome.” Jack smiled, suppressing a yawn as he held onto Antonio and carried on his way to the cafe

Antonio’s dark eyes were alight with vibrant energy that was unusual for college students at this hour of the morning.  He finally quieted down after several minutes and took a long breath, having nearly forgotten the necessary action during his monologue.

“How was your Spring?”  He asked once more, this time ready to actually listen.

Antonio gave a half-hearted chuckle.  “Maybe so.”  He took a deep breath and looked out the window.  “We must leave soon.  I should be in attendance of his funeral.”  He smiled faintly.  “And you can be my plus one.”

Jack nodded and got up as well, holding Antonio for a moment, though it wasn’t clear if he was trying to steady himself or Toni. “Alright, but I want you to eat something first, okay?” he frowned slightly, “How many days will we need to pack for?”

“At least 3, but i’d plan for 5 just in case.”  He smiled softly at Jack’s frown.  “Don’t worry about me.  I’m...I’m going to be okay.”  He pressed a gentle kiss to his partner’s lips.

“Isn’t that a little… Off to have the killer at the funeral?” Jack raised an eyebrow, slowly sitting up, though he let out a groan of pain at his wound

Antonio shrugged.  “It was off for him to try to kill me for so long.”  He was trying his best to cover up the grief he felt for his brother’s death.  He understood that it was for his safety, but it was still his blood

Jack held Antonio closer and kissed his forehead, “Well, it’s over now, so I guess we just have to keep going forwards.” he replied, “We should leave today and not hassle Esme any more.”

The smaller boy nodded and stood up, feeling off-kilter from his loss of magic.  “You should pack some fruit and supplies.  I’ll make plans to meet with an old friend.  They’ll help us find our way to the faerie realm.”

Antonio looked at Jack seriously.  “My mother is one of the most powerful fae in my kingdom.  I can’t promise that she won’t be upset about Omar’s death.”  He closed his now brown eyes and took a shaky breath.  “And its my fault that you got run through.”  He reached up and pressed his hand against Jack’s cheek.  “If keeping you alive means losing my power, I would do it 10 times over, my dear.”

“Wait… You- You don’t have any magic left?” Jack asked, looking surprised, “I… I didn;’t even know that could happen, but you used it on me?” he frowned deeply, moving quickly to hug Antonio tightly

Antonio clung to Jack as tears streamed from his eyes.  He could feel the emptiness in his chest where his magic heart used to beat.  It left him hollow and afraid.  “I have to get my magic back.”  He mumbled, wiping away the tears from his cheeks.  “I need to find my mother.”

“Will she be alright with everything now that Omar is gone?” Jack asked, “I… I don’t want to turn up and have her go wild because I killed one of her sons.” he frowned, rubbing Antonio’s back

Antonio flinched slightly at the words.  So it was true, then.  Omar really was dead.  He hadn’t just imagined it.  “I...I’m not sure how she’ll respond.  The whole family will have felt the loss by now.”  He remembered the pang he felt when Omar’s body had turned to dust and knew that his siblings and parents had felt it as well.  “If you are...concerned about your safety, you don’t have to come with me.  But for me to get back my magic, I must find my mother.  She’ll know what to do.”
