Starlight Prompts now has a community @@starlight-challenge
This will be a weekly prompt challenge for writers and artists. New prompts will be posted every Thursday. This challenge is run similarly to writing prompt challenges that you may remember from the Livejournal days, but with some differences:
Prompts will be posted here every Thursday. Times may be inconsistent due to my chronic illness, but I will aim for noon (EST).
Prompts are suitable for both writers and artists. Both original and fandom works are accepted.
You may answer any prompt posted in this community at any time, even weeks, months, or years later. See the tag beneath the post to tag it for proper credit to that prompt.
You may post the response in full on the community, or you may use a false cut to link to it on your own journal.
Due to the blog here and Dreamwidth being out of sync, the numbering will begin with prompt 19 starting today, 23 January 2025.
Rules
Writing of all ratings is accepted. Please rate your writing appropriately, and include appropriate content warnings, if needed.
Fic ratings are to be equivalent to AO3's: G: General T: Teen M: Mature E: Explicit
Please feel free to post a response to any past prompt.
Each prompt is open to interpretation by the author or artist. Feel free to allow the prompt to take you where it will.
Any prompt can be replied to at any time, even if it's older than this week.
Guidelines
Word count minimum is 500 words.
Please use the following header for each piece of writing posted: Title: Fandom: Wordcount: Rating: Warnings: Prompt: Summary:
Make sure to use a fandom tag and your author tag when you post. E.g.: #fandom: star trek tos #author: in-sufficientdata
FAQ:
- What sort of content is allowed?
Fanfiction and original writing are accepted, as well as artworks and other creative works. Basically, if it's a response to the prompt, it's allowed.
- Can I comment on other people's posts?
Please do, especially if you have something encouraging to say about their work. Part of the reason for these sort of comms is to increase engagement and readership, as well as giving people a place to be inspired.
