Vegan cinnamon rolls / Recipe
Vegan Potato Salad
I just realized the last recipe I posted was also a sandwich recipe… OOOOOPS! What can I say? I’ve been diggin’ sandwiches this winter, and I know this obsession will last all through the spring and summer. Here’s a super easy and delicious vegan potato salad recipe that’s perfect as a side or on a sandwich. I try making this in big batches so I can have some in the fridge for whenever I need a quick meal, but Momo just ends up eating it all straight from the tupperware! Another good thing about making this in large batches is that this potato salad tends to taste better on the second day. I can’t wait to have this in the summer on a nice picnic! Summer please come back to me!
Ingredients: - 2 medium white or yellow potatoes, diced and boiled until tender (about 2.5 cups) - ½ cup shredded carrots - 2 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped - 2 tbsp green onion, thinly sliced - ¼ tsp each: salt, pepper, old bay (optional) - 3 tbsp veganaise - 2 tsp apple cider vinegar - 1 tsp roasted garlic oil (you could use ¼ tsp garlic powder or maybe even fresh minced garlic. We just use garlic oil because Momo can’t have real garlic.)
Instructions: 1) In a large bowl or tupperware, use a fork to lightly mash the potatoes. It will continue to mash when you mix in the ingredients. You can choose if you like yours extra smooth or with chunks. I like mine with a few chunks so I don’t over-mash. 2) Add the rest of the ingredients and mix to make sure it’s all combined. Store in the fridge for about 30 min to 1 hour to cool. You could technically eat it warm, but it’s way better when it’s chilled. You could also make and mash the potatoes ahead of time, allow them too chill, then mix the ingredients and it’ll be good to serve! 3) Serve as a side, or on a sandwich! For my sandwich, I topped it with more veganiase, spinach, tomatoes, and cucumber. ENJOY!
Great times
Day 5
I got two compliments on my skin today. Frankly speaking, I don't know why people don't do this cleanse, especially people with conditions like hormonal acne. Even the texture feels smoother than I've felt it in a long time. I've had chills today in the office and it was 28 degrees out. And the AC wasn't on. Ive also had flu like symptoms today. I still have the water poo coming out a bit clearer than before with the rope like latex stuff. Thank God, that is outta me. I didn't take measurements of myself before, but my clothes are draping over me. These jeans I wore a few days back used to be snug now they are loose around my bum, waist and hips. My stomach is so trenched, it's obvious I've lost some in that area. My collar bones are peaking out a bit more than usual. My skin glows, is what Ive been told. I'm starting to get hungry. And I'm not craving junk, I'm craving juicy watermelons, cold OJ, sometimes I fantasize about avocados
DAY 5- Master Cleanse
I dreamt of Avocados. Ikr?! Weird, I still have the muscle pains on my shoulders and legs and now upper arms. I'm a bit foggy and the white tongue still persists. But a new thing, I stink! Haha. No seriously, I'm the type of person who doesn't necessarily need Deoderant so when I say I stink, I really do. And the weird part is I'm happy about it. So today I've had: 2 litres of the lemonade, an extra teaspoon of the maple and a laxative tea
DAY 4-Master Cleanse
I noticed a white film on my tongue when I woke up today. I guess my body is still getting rid of stuff, somehow I wish I can be more active and sweat it out. I work a 8-5 job and go to evening classes later. So I get home at 9pm and I'm beat, I know it sounds like I have ample time to squeeze In exercise somehow but If I could I would. Today I felt weak. My muscles cramped a lot especially my shoulders and legs. My legs hurt the most. They also hold a lot of my stubborn fat, but that's not the point. I got home and realized, my ankles were swollen. I took to google and found that I have edema. I've decided I wont have the salt water flush in the mornings. I'll replace it with the laxative tea instead
Day 3-Master Cleanse
I'll dab today Elimination day. No seriously, I woke up twice last night to response to a number two. Did my ritual early morning of the SWF, one hour later when I just got to work, nature called. This time I had a water poo. I can't express how awkward this felt. But I had read about it. I'm starting to recognize the difference between need for food or want for food. I mean I can recognize when I'm actually hungry or my emotional need to chew. There is a certain calm and serenity in all this. I'm happy I decided to go on this journey.
Day 2-Master Cleanse
I woke up feeling energetic today. No detox symptoms yet, but I'm sure they'll be coming along soon (hoping so) Today I had 2 litres of the lemonade drink. I got another brand of the sea salt yesterday, because I was skeptical about the herbal with iodine sea salt. I got plain sea salt. 2 teaspoons into 500ml of lukewarm water, chugged that in the morning (no I can't get used to it, ugh! ) I had a cup of the laxative tea and went to bed. *TO NOTE* -Energy high -Not hungry -No elimination (per or solid)
MasterCleanse-Day 1
Woke up at 4:30am to prepare the lemonade for the day and also prepare for work. I am still not hungry, still surviving on last nights meal. My lemonade had a serving of - Juice of 5 limes -3 tablespoons of Agave nectar (the darker, organic one is best) It was a total of 2 litres I carried the cayenne with me to add to my cups when I served to drink. The salt water flush was 500ml of water and 2teaspoons of sea salt. I chugged it down, Fast!! Ugh! Yuck *Surprisingly I had a lot of energy and I wasn't hungry at all all day. * I had 8 cups of the lemonade today and a glass of the laxative tea. * I peed a lot, but I had one teeny egestion. I guess I have to increase my salt to water ratio I got through day 1 guys, yey!
Master Cleanse Diary
Sunday-Shopping Day
So I made myself familiar with the whole cleanse. What I found is that it has a love/hate relationship online. Those who love it,recommend it highly and those who hate, don’t like it because it’s seen as a ‘starvation diet’ But sincerely speaking, those who recommend it have facts and testimonials which outweigh the views of the critics, who seem to never have tried it.
It’s Sunday, I begin the cleanse tomorrow. So I’m going shopping today.
*Shopping List* -30 ripe limes (to last till Friday) -Agave nectar (Cause maple in Kenya is very expensive) -Can’t get Smooth Move tea, so I settled for Dr. Stuart’s lax plus tea -Herbal organic peppermint tea
Cayenne pepper is a staple in my kitchen cabinet, so that is sorted.
So the sea salt became the issue. Usually I always see the pink sea salts on the supermarket shelves, but today I couldn’t find one. So I got the herbal sea salt
Tonight, I had a huge bowl of raw cucumber pasta and raw pesto with avocado and nutritional yeast. Coupled with a tall glass of juiced Carrot Juice. And got psyched for tomorrow.
Reasons I'm doing the MasterCleanse
Although I have been on the plant based for almost 3 years now, I can't ignore the fact that I wasn't haven't always been on the clean diet. I have a lot of years to recover from Here are some of the main reasons I'm on this cleanse 1. So I can get rid of decades of meals still stuck in my gut. Cause that's just nasty 2.For better absorption of nutrients 3.For better overall health ie better skin, getting rid of toxicity (mental, physical) 4.Yes, for weight loss too. I'm still holding on to some few kgs that I'd be more comfortable without 5. Last but not least, For better mental health and clarity, better appreciation of life and foods and spirituality. Here we go!
10 Day MASTERCLEANSE
I begun my Master cleanse / lemonade cleanse this Monday. Today is Friday, so I'm on day 5. I am a vegan. But I went 2 weeks raw vegan prior to Starting the Master Cleanse. I was thinking I would document my whole experience from Day 1, (maybe pictures included)

What’s Wrong With Honey?
Honey is prepared by bees from the nectar of flowers, and forms their primary winter food source. Though many bees consume nectar and product honey, only bees which live together in large colonies store appreciable quantities of honey. Producing honey is an exhaustive process for bees, and a single teaspoon represents the life’s work of 12 individuals.
As with any animal product, the bees are seen as commodities rather than autonomous beings. Bees are very complex creatures, who experience pain, are capable of emotional responses as well as abstract thought and have extremely sophisticated social systems. We know that honeybees process massive amounts of information about flowers, locations, and the behavior and physiological status of other bees in the hive, not to mention their ages, weather, and the seasons. They are not senseless automatons whose needs and preferences don’t need to be taken into account.
Despite this fact, bees are often cruelly treated and exploited for profit by the honey industry. Queen bees are artificially inseminated and beekeepers cut off their wings to prevent them leaving the hive. It is standard practice for commercial operations to take all or most of the honey bees produce, and replace it with a sugar syrup substitute. When harvesting, beekeepers often use smoke to purposely disorient and panic bees, and some will even burn entire hives during winter to reduce costs. Even putting aside the harm caused to bees, making a profit out of the life’s work of other beings is exploitation, and harvesting honey is quite simply taking something which isn’t ours to use.
Many people are willing to overlook welfare concerns because it is popularly thought that consuming honey helps bees and the environment. The honey industry only boosts numbers of captive bees, however, when in fact, wild bees are better pollinators, are better for the environment and are actually being put at risk because of captive bees competing for the same food. Many diseases that have only ever existed in domestic bees are also spreading to wild bee populations and placing them in very real danger, this is a direct result of the commercial production of honey. If you are interested in helping bee populations, you can provide shelter for bees without taking their honey or making a profit from them. This, as well as planting and maintaining bee friendly flowers in your garden, is one of the most effective ways to genuinely help bees, rather than just helping their owners.
This is a very useful resource.
