Dreamscape
Five photos that illustrate my dream.
Dream
My dream was more of a nightmare. I tend to have nightmares more than anything and when I have one they’re really intense and scary. The most recent nightmare I had was actually in my bed. Their are no other people involved in my dream, but my Kurt Cobain poster is involved. In my dream my Kurt Cobain poster was coming at me like Freddy Krueger in the mattress scene from Nightmare on Elm Street. I was laying in my bed, so my setting is in my room in the dorms. There is a lap, some paintings, a couple posters, and a lot of pictures on my walls. My dream was just a short episode of intensity, but it stood out to me so much that I can visually demonstrate it better than any other dream I’ve had recently.
The first object is moving across the page, the second object is spinning, and the third is moving onto the page.
My first five photos are my organic and the last five are my nonogranic forms.
Comic Strip Development!
First, I took a separate piece of paper and outlined the parts of my piece I wanted included, so I knew exactly where everything was going. I knew I wanted my inanimate object to be a shoe, because I love shoes and there’s a lot of things that encompass shoes. I also knew I wanted to include flowers in my design hence all the random flowers in each box. I wasn’t exactly sure how I would make the shoe come to life, but I used a storm as a way to create the illusion that the shoe was coming alive. It was struck with lightning and that’s what actually created the reaction. Then I decided what it would do, such as eating the grass. The last part was deciding if the foot that it would belong to would be a boy or a girl. I also liked the idea of funky socks and that’s why I felt it was easier to have a guy as the person. The layout took awhile, but after I was done with my piece I was very satisfied with all the parts. I felt like this piece was a real reflection of my art, and I’m very happy about it.
My 6 panel comic strip!
My typefaces! I love my grandma! I hate drugs!
In the first storefront I believe the main focal point is the barber post. It brings the crowd in and it’s interesting. It gives the store character and light. It’s the same color as the sign for the store, but it’s an actual 3D object.
In the second storefront the main focal point is the coffee grinder. It is an object which kind of offsets the lettering on the post. It also compliments the whole sign nicely as well. If the coffee post weren’t there I don’t think this sign would be that bold of a piece.
In the second storefront sign I believe the focal point is the coffee mug at the top. It’s at the top which isn’t in the middle, but it’s almost welcoming and gives the sign a lot more interest. It’s also very light compared to the rest of the sign, which is why I noticed it first.
