sometimes i think i’m being too kind to pompey and then i remember that there was a man who made up this motivation for him:

they made me princeps senatus becvse i have gravel for breakfast every morning like gravel the rock and im usually not done chewing it until early evening so whenever i speak theres like a 5% chance a tiny sharp shard of gravel will be propelled out of my mouth. i speak fairly often as princeps senatus and the other senators are hoping i’ll accidentally spit out a piece of gravel will hit pompey in the eye, killing him instantly
