Hello!

If you are in the model horse corner of Instagram and recognize my name (unlikely, but you never know) yes, I am the same person! Finally decided to move photos of my model horse collection over here and see if I can connect with Breyer and other model horse enthusiasts.

I have been collecting since 1999. I have 232 traditional size models and a small pile of stablemates. Some of my favorite traditional size molds are Rejoice (National Show Horse), Amber, Zippo Pine Bar, and Marabella.

This past year I finally reorganized and dusted the collection, and I hope to drag out the lightbox and finish documenting my models in photos. Those photos will be posted on my sideblog @statestreetstablescollection

It might be obvious but probably should still be said: please don't take my pictures and use them on any other sites without my permission.

The name? Comes from the final instrumental track on the Paradise Theatre album by Styx.

And the avatar? Yes, it's a real cardinal: years ago, he flew in through an open door, and perched on my models as we desperately tried to encourage him back outside. He left only a few feathers behind and one nice photo that has been my model horse avatar ever since.

Today's horse is... kind of a mystery! When I bought him, the seller knew next to nothing about him, just that he was vintage. I looked him up online and found a lot of similar models, but only a scant few that looked exactly like him. The sellers of these suggested that they might be Budweiser merch from the 70s, and that's really all I have to go on.

I think I might have found the original context, pictured below:

But I've also found images of these horses in pairs on different (partial) stands that don't look like this. And he has loops on the sides of his collar that look like reins could go through. So I don't know. Maybe they were sold in different ways? One listing said it was made by Hartland, but I don't know that that's true.

I bought this one because I think he's cool. I like a model in harness, and I was impressed that he stands pretty well on just two hooves. Plus he seemed like he'd seen a lot and needed a good home. He was splitting down the middle and pretty dirty, but has since had a bath and some super glue. He's a little smaller than a typical Breyer Traditional (7 inches at the neck arch). I don't think he was ever meant to be a toy, but that won't stop me from playing with him a bit.

Went to an antique fair today, and saw more Breyers (and other model horses) than I normally do. Nobody came home with me though.

This is the only release on this mold I have ever wanted. I just love his color and was thrilled to add him to my collection.

I don't believe I have this catalogue anymore but look at what Breyer did. They mixed up the mares for the quarter horse and arabian families! XD
