All he does to defend himself is raise his arm. “Just… get it over with.” There’s no use fighting back. There never was.

“Oh, I’ve lost it. You see, after using earthquake or some such destructive move, I sometimes unearth little… Things. Nothing special, usually, but I recently found a shard of… Some type of pottery, perhaps? It looked to me as though it had some type of text engraved… Then again, it could have just been scratches! Heavens know, my eyes aren’t quite what they used to be!”

That’s not to say she doesn’t notice a great many things… Just perhaps not those closest to her face.

He lights up immediately. Along with enjoying books, he has a healthy love for history. “Oh my, really? Well then, I suppose I better help you look for it!”

Good thing his glasses give him 20/20 vision.

Frowning, Bertha turns to look behind her.

"Well, I know I had it on the stairs, so it must have escaped somewhere between there and here. I wonder how it fell out...?"

Bertha digs around in her coat pocket, looking confused.

“Oh? Now, where did it get to…?”

“Oh dear, did you lose it? I could help you find it if you did.”

RPers, please reblog this if you’re ok with para responses that don’t include dialogue.

Often it seems like an expectation that dialogue will be exchanged in every para response, but sometimes characters are nonverbal, or don’t have anything to say, or are in a situation that would make talking impractical. If the writer puts enough attention into describing their actions, though, there’s still plenty to respond to even without dialogue. Non-dialogue responses are not “going nowhere.” Non-dialogue responses are not “filler.” Non-dialogue responses are not non-responses.
