(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0TZWKVAs-w) My final video
I stayed away from extreme glitching as I felt that the final outcome was too hard to see and as my video incorporates a lot of short clips, there just wasn't enough time for the viewer to understand what exactly it was that they were watching.
Again this inspired me and I found that applying two layers of video helped achieve a similar aesthetic to my videos as seen above.
This is the effect I am hoping you will notice while watching my short video. I achieved it through video effects and believe it gives a great overall aesthetic without making it to hard to understand what is going on in the videoĀ
Useful video showing me how to easily save videos from youtube
Initially had trouble glitching as it wasn't achieve the desired effect. I have found that applying to layers of videos on top of each other and then playing with some video effects achieves a similar look and makes it easier to see what is actually going on in the video.
Screen grab from video
Still practicing datamoshing/glitching.
This technique literally gives me no control as I āforce quitā the video while its processing enabling errors and glitches beyond my control
No control over no control
This is video 2/2. I have had a quick play with it on Adobe Premiere, which I am still very new to. I played around with some of the effects and overlapping layers. The next step is to take it into Avidemux to apply some dirty media, which unfortunately I am having trouble with. I am finding that Premiere is not letting me export in the right format which I believe is disabling the full editing functions in Avidemux. Anyway, I hope to combine many short clips and create a 1 minute video depicting no control (dirty media/datamoshing/glitching) over no control Ā (drunk friends being idiots)

The beginning of the end?
Is it true that Curtin Medical students are performing tests on children in highly restricted underground labs?
Week 12: Narrative After Narrative
A written account of connected events; A story
Examples- Kurt Vonnegut Screen Narratives: Snow White,Ā Aurora,Ā BelleĀ ect (meta narrative) Mega Narratives: Royal baptismsĀ Modernism: work hard and achieve Post-modern: not believing in the meta-narratives, no possibility of absolute freedom ect.
Anti-Narratives: 9/11, JFK, Loc Ness, Big Foot conspiracies - own narratives we can relate to
After-Narrative: Virtual - hyper reality more interesting
While looking through my files for videos of my drunken friendsā¦I found that scrolling fast through my photos had a cool effect and gave me inspiration. This is an example of what I am going to further develop.
It is made up purely of selfies and questions if āSelfies really can tell a story?ā and I also hope to question āthe power of selfiesā
I also hope for this technique if used for my final to take you through a journey of my life within the last year. I feel that this is more interesting than videos of random people doing drunk things. Will be a question discussed in Fridays class.
Techno Viking
Lol Cats & Dogmas - Week 11
Viral images and video Lolcat- An image combining a photograph of a cat with text intended to contribute humour. The text is often idiosyncratic and grammatically incorrect.
Doge - slang term for dog that is primarily associated with pictures of Shiba Inus and internal monologue captions on tumblr. Use comic sans fonts. Viral examples- Scarlett JohanssonĀ Falling Slugs for guitars Tony Abbot on the phone Techno viking
Contagion happens because of participatory culture. Can use things such as click drag click to rework gifs ect
Documenting my process. Messaged Andy last week (tuesday 5th) to clear up some confusion I had.
I think for my final video, I will either;
- āsuper-cutā (idea to come)
- āarchiveā and show me aging or getting younger through similar methods that Jason Salavon used by laying picture upon picture
- āstop motionā and try get to either accept or challenge the idea that selfies can tell a story
