going insane over aegon moving closer to alicent in this scene

I’ll never stop saying it but Aegon was born when Alicent was 15, and he must remember the teenager trying her best to raise him and his siblings, more than the others. He probably remembers the dozens of time Viserys gaslighted Alicent, probably heard their fights, his mother crying when she thinks no one is here.

Alicent is sensitive and emotionally exhausted and fragile because of the years of marriage. How many times did she hide her tears and exhaustion from her children? And how many times did Aegon see her eyes full of tears? As the eldest, he probably remembers Daeron’s birth and how exhausting and hard it must have been for Alicent. He probably remembers how neither he nor his siblings got a cradle egg despite Rhaenyra’s kids having them.

Aegon faced and endured his father’s the king’s wrath just a few minutes ago to protect his mother despite Alicent slapping him. He basically spat in Viserys’ face and ruined his attempt to punish Alicent even further. And he’s definitely scared of Viserys. But he did it because he’ll always look out for his mother, the way she did for him ever since she was fifteen, losing her childhood for him.

Aegon and Alicent aren’t able to tell each other “I love you” but I’ll fight anyone who tell me they don’t love each other. And if the only thing he can do at the moment is stand behind her, he will do it.

something that really made me sad about book!aegon is how he was the last sibling left alive, and he was his mother’s only remaining child, hence why he spent every last ounce of energy he had left to retake the throne and be reunited with her. i just picture him sitting alone, crippled and in constant pain, and feeling such grief over aemond and daeron that he decides he wants to erect statues for them, because of how hard they fought for him (wanting statues at all seems pretty unusual for the average targaryen family dynamic, so it just makes it more potent). 

now i’ve made myself feel WORSE :(
