that throwaway teen
wildberryoras:
Ā Ā Ā THE earring. The hair. The stance. Thereās no need for Star Platinum to use his enhanced vision to pick apart this kid. He knows what kind heās giving a once-over.
Sour resting expression in place, he nods his head toward the end of the street, waving for him to follow as he continues to float one. Albeit, itās at a much more leisurelyĀ pace now that he might have company. Star Platinum can piece together what happened well enough knowing the snobbery that plagues the restaurants in this Sector.
Long hair flowing behind him like anĀ aurora boris, he silently goes on for a few blocks until they reach a green painted door he wrenches open. Heās much more careful about closing it after he ducks inside. Creatures of all sorts bustle about in aprons matching the color of the door with a cherry insignia on the breast, putting food into bags to be shipped out to customers. Star Platinum doesnāt pay them any mind while heās on a mission. He leads Jim to the back breakroom where thereās hot and ready to eat soup and sandwiches.
Another wave in invitationĀ to get him to eat. Stands not needing to eat means thereās at least one lunch here going to waste.

Seeing movement out of the corner of his eye, Jim turned to glance at the bigger man and saw the hand motion to follow him. Dubious at best, the teen turned his head to look all around him, soon noting that almost no one else was nearby and the safest bet would be to actually follow the man.
He dropped his arms to his sides and gulped, walking forward and following the stranger to who knows where. He didnāt say anything during their short walk, partly out of fear of offending the manās good graces and partly because he didnāt know whatĀ to say.
Flabbergasted when they entered the building, one which he ducked quickly inside as if waiting too long would expire his invitation, Jim widened his eyes due to the sudden change in atmosphere. All kinds of people congregated here to eat and chat, served without bias, and clearly happy to be there. ThisĀ was what he was used to---this was the closest thing to home he had seen since coming to the city.
Stunned by the welcoming atmosphere and by memories of home, he almost lost sight of the man who led him here. Thankfully his stature made it easy to spot him entering a smaller room, a room which Jim ducked inside after a short nod of his head. He was salivating and sniffing the air immediately, honing in on one of the freshly made sandwiches. While his instincts told him to grab the sandwich and scarf it down, he managed to stop with his arm an inch away from it and look back at the stoic stranger.
āCan I?āĀ he asked in an uncharacteristically meek tone, already pulling his arm back to his side to prove his manners. It was the least he could do when a stranger was offering free food, although now that he thought about it, he cocked his head to the side.Ā āItās not poisoned or anything? Okay, not like youād admit it if it was...ā
