The Martian Manhunter 

J'onn J'onzz had been a leading citizen among the green-skinned inhabitants of Mars.  Following a war with the white-skinned Martians, J’onzz was banished to the desert.  Some time thereafter, a scientist on earth hoped to facilitate communications with extra terrestrial life with the use of specialized beam.  Somehow, the scientist’s experiment caused J'onzz to be teleported to earth.  As a Martian, J'onzz possessed the ability for telepathy, flight and shapeshifting.  Now marooned on earth with no way to return home, J'onzz used his powers to learn the ways of earth and disguise himself as a human; adopting the name ‘John Jones.’  

He would go onto become a police detective in the city of Middleton, working as a policeman while secretly using his Martian powers to solve cases and help people.  John Jones’ identity as a Martian was later revealed and J'onzz ultimately came to retire the secret identity and live openly as himself.  Soon there after, The Martian Manhunter helped to form the first iteration of The Justice League of America and has gone on to serve as one the League’s most valued and longstanding members.  

Actor Phil Morris portrayed a version of The Martian Manhunter in the television series Smallville; while actor David Harewood played the character in the show Supergirl.  Actor Harry Lennix played an iteration of the charter in the DC Extended Universe; while the great Carl Lumbly provided the voice for the hero in the DC Animated Universe.  

The Martian Manhunter first appeared in the pages of Detective Comics #225 (1955).

New Year's Resolutions? Hate um.

Have I mentioned that? I've done this bit since I was, GREAT CAESAR'S GHOST!?! in my late 20s? Early 30s?

But I still sincerely mean it. Why stack the deck against yourself on day one? ESPECIALLY in a year like this. You made it through. That's good enough. Great job!

As I say yearly. My goal is just try to suck less in the new year. Even a year as bad as this? You can…well a LOT of people can do enough personal growth to at least do that. And I think I've done that every year. Somethings may slip back, some move forward, but over all, progress! Good for me!

I just hope to take better care of myself over all and hope for better health for my friends and family.
