hi, idk if you're still taking fic recs but I've been reading a Quinntana fic called "The Way To Each Other" and I'm liking the story. It deals with a lot of heavy issues (i.e. nonconsensual sex with a minor, HIV), so it's probably not for everyone but I liked the Quinntana story so maybe other people will too.
A rec for everyone! Thanks for sending it in!

I like the fact that you guys are branching away from Glee and I still love you guys and respect your decision to keep your current format, but to me the show is just you guys going on about how you really like a show. Maybe a stronger formatting can be used so we can get more depth. Keep going!
Well, the first episode was about the shows we're currently watching and recommending. Our next episodes will be more about what we like and don't like in terms of writing/character. It's hard to do that on the first episode of the season because you don't really have much to go off of in terms of analysis.
We hope you stick with us and I'm sure we will tweak things in our format as we muddle through this new change! Thanks for your comments. We do appreciate them!

Hi, I enjoying listening to your show, good luck with the new format. May I ask if you are going to talk about the Cory Monteith tribute episode " the Quarterback" ? The real tears from the cast broke my heart especially the family, Lea and Matt Morrison at the end. I thought that they did Cory justice.
Yes, we will touch on it like we did in our latest episode. It won't be the whole show, but we will talk about it.

Brand new update!
Check out the new podcast everyone! We are no longer a strictly Glee podcast. Now we take each week and go over the newest in TV, movies, music, video games, books, and other entertainment that we've been partaking in.
Now we don't just analyze. We give an overview and our thoughts. We don't go as in-depth as we used to but we still talk about what we liked and did not like about a show or episode or movie.
Glee still makes it into our discussion since it still airs on TV, but it no longer takes the hour focus. We hope you enjoy the new format with us!

Episode 1 of Shut the Front Door.
Starting anew by giving overviews and opinions of all of the different entertainment we enjoy including TV, movies, books, music, and video games! This episode begins with Week 1 of the 2013/2014 TV broadcasting season.
Are you going to analyse the 5th season? Btw, I really enjoy your podcasts so far (I'm only on the 7th episode, so many more to go through!).
Not really. We dedicate a few minutes to it on the new podcast since it is one of the shows my co-host watches (if I have nothing else to do that week, I'll download it and watch it or stream it from a site on the net during my free time).
We won't be doing anything in-depth on it anymore. The show has mainly run its course for us and we're moving on but we do speak a bit about the episode that aired during the week.
We're glad you're enjoying and hope you like our new format when you get to it!

You twisted Kurt's words to his dad. It wasn't never finding someone who could love him like Blaine did it was never finding someone who could make him feel like Blaine did. There's a huuuuge difference
I misquoted, apologies. It doesn't really matter in the end, does it? He's nineteen years old. He has barely lived. How can he know that he won't find someone else who can make him feel that way?
Why does he feel so hopeless in that sense that he has to go back to someone who cheated as soon as things got a little tough? It's not even the dating Blaine again that's the problem. It's that he said yes to marriage.
Why could they try to make a relationship work again first? They're still going to be long distance for a little while. Hell, they could be long distance for a long while if Blaine doesn't get into NYADA (I know the writers wouldn't do that, but if you want to look at it realistically and not from a meta POV).
It feels like Kurt is resigning himself to Blaine the same way Rachel resigned herself to marrying Finn. Rachel thought her dreams were over. Kurt thinks he'll never find better than what he already has. It's just a terrible way to accept a proposal, IMO.

Why do you think Glee never addressed the issue of STDs? I mean, they're having a fair amount of sex on that show. Santana and Puck have both probably indulged in people outside their circle of high school classmates. Wasn't there an implication that Brittany was molested at summer camp? She could have passed something onto Artie. I can't recall condoms being mentioned. If they were, it was probably only a minor thing in Burt's sex-talk with Kurt.
Honestly, I'm surprised they never did go over STDs on Glee. With all of the other PSAs they've done and issues they've dealt with, you'd think STDs would be an important one. I mean, they had a pregnancy and a scare with Rachel, but what about contracting something?
Pregnancy isn't the only thing these kids need to worry about, after all. My guess is they just never thought about it. Puck should have had one by now. =/

So, is the STD team trying to raise awareness and combat STDs, or is it more of a Super-friends kind of thing with characters like Gonorrhea-Boi, Super-Syphilis-Man, and Chlamydia-Jane (with her dog GenitalWartz)?
Yes. To all of that.

Why is your blog called the STD Team?
StFD because the podcast is named "Shut the Front Door".
- StFD Team
You misunderstand these things because you seem to believe that the character traits are a constant, but they're not. It's character development, one of the things your blog says that it addresses. That Dave was Kurt's only true threat at one time is inarguable, but it's rendered immaterial given the progression of time and the way in which characters develop.
This is the last ask I'm going to deal with about this because I'm getting tired.
First of all, this ask is really poorly worded and difficult to understand.
Secondly, character development on Glee and character traits are both terribly written on Glee starting season 2. Half of the characters do things that don't make sense and the other half regress, then progress, then regress again.
Dave was never the only person that bullied Kurt. Kurt got thrown into a dumpster the first time we saw him by Finn and Puck (well, Finn stood and watched).
Dave's character does develop. We see him grow and come to accept his sexuality. That doesn't change any of the facts about how he threatened and assaulted Kurt though.

Different anon: Ummm, isn't it a bit hypocritical to defend faberry and say stuff about kurtofsky? I hate faberry with a passion (since rachel is my favorite, and bully/victim stuff freaks me out), and I get so confused when people say they ship faberry, but hates kurtofsky because of the bullying. We may have different definitions of bullying, but what Quinn did counts as bullying for me. Cyberbullying is bullying, it's even a part of the word! I agree that Q matured, but she was still a bully
I never said anything about Kurtofsky though!
I didn't attack Kurtofsky. I didn't say kurtofsky shippers were horrible people or "how do you ship that?" In fact, I specifically stated, ship what you ship.
The only thing I said was faberry was different, here's how.
You are entitled to not like faberry or kurtofsky. If you dislike bully/victim stuff...I doubt you like Rachel with anyone from high school at all considering they ALL bullied her at one point or another.
You are entitled to do as you please. I was never being a hypocrite though since I never attacked kurtofsky. I'm still not attacking that ship.
I honestly don't have feelings for it at all, negative or positive. I'm neutral. It doesn't even show on my radar. If you like it great, if not great, if you're neutral like me about it great.

You're misunderstanding the reasons why Kurt was singled-out as a target by Karofsky.
Misunderstanding gay panic and self-loathing? I don't think so.
He was singled out because he was out and proud and didn't let society tell him he couldn't be who he was. He didn't let the pressures of popularity affect his own happiness.
Dave wasn't comfortable with who he was. He was supposed to be "one of the guys". He wasn't supposed to like other guys and he didn't want to lose all of the "friends" he had because he was gay.
I could go into more depth, but I don't want to go back and forth anymore. I think this horse has been beaten to death.

I see you talking shit about Kurtofsky. Say something about my Tater Tots/Mercedes and I swear I will anonymously attack you with my opinions until you say I'm right. I will also personally attack you and your memory, just for the hell of it. Do it, I dare you.
TATER TOTS!
I actually had those for dinner (well part of dinner) one night. They aren't bad, but I dunno why Mercedes is so crazy for them. =P

Well, of course the apology wouldn't have happened if he were not blackmailed: out of sight, out of mind. It's not human nature to go out of one's way to apologize for bad behavior to someone they think they'll never see again. It's very different when one is face-to-face with the person they know they've wronged.
Okay, and that's fair. I never said anything to the contrary about it. I don't even know why I got attacked in the first place.
All I originally did was answer an anti-faberry ask and said that faberry was different because Quinn never physically assaulted Rachel (minus the slap which she apologized for right away of her own volition) and she never threatened Rachel's life.
That's all I said. That's not bashing Kurtofsky, it's stating what actually happened in the show. It's not my fault the show was done that way.
- StFD Team
Actually, the apology took place outside of Kurt's French class, not in the choir room.
You know what's funny about that apology? In the scene Kurt says no one has even bothered him since he got back to school. Dave says it's because of the protection...but in actuality, we all realize it was because Dave was really the only one who tormented Kurt.
Once Dave was no longer bullying and even in S3, when he had transferred...no one really bothered Kurt about it.
Huh.
