I have two arms and I am stumped as to how they attach to the body. In theory, I know how they're supposed to go, but I can't get them to line up correctly.

Will likely skip to the legs tomorrow and hope things go better.

Finally got my fabric! It is still not as dark as I hoped, but much better compared to what I originally got (left is new, right is the original).

...and I finally drew out the pattern piece for his bangs, modified from a different pattern piece. Here is the cut out pattern pieces and two cut out mirrored stabilizer pieces, ready to be ironed onto the fabric.

After looking at his face again, I think I will see about getting some brown felt for his eyebrows and lashes to match. I also need to get some for his glasses, not sure what color I want them yet.

He has a face! Haven't ironed it in place yet but got everything cut out. Debating if I should get brown felt and redo the lashes and eyebrows to match the hair. I also forgot to get felt for his glasses, though I haven't decided what color yet.

Wally thinks every box we get in the mail is for him. To be fair, most of them are, but not this one! Finally got my fabric stabilizer! I got the fusible web ironed onto the felt, then realized what I should have done, rather than cut out the tiny pieces, is used an exact knife to cut the shaped out of the page to make a template. Unfortunately my printer is out of toner, so will have to wait until Tuesday to print it out at school again.

In the meantime, I've got most of the pieces traced on the stabilizer, ready to be cut out and sewn. The pieces not yet traced are the floppy hair bits. The one for his bangs, I will need to modify, so I'm going to trace it on regular paper, draw what needs to be changed, cut out, then trace on the stabilizer.

What a process.

I reordered fabric for Ed's hair, hopefully in the right color this time... I may have also run into a another Christmas gift idea and a birthday gift idea for my mom... The craft projects keep coming!

But good news! The stabilizer came in today, and I have fusible webbing, so now gotta make a quick run to the craft store tomorrow when I find free time, and the fun begins on Sunday as I have obligations for tomorrow.

The half meter of fabric I have can make four dolls. Who should I do next? I've got plans for Ed and Thanatos. Who should I do next?

Turns out, tracing on the back of the fabric is SO much easier than on the front.

...except for the fact that I forgot to check which way the nap goes and traced everything upside down 😭😭😭

THE FABRIC IS HERE!

The skin-tone I ordered is a lot more pink than expected, but I think still okay. Gonna look at it again in the morning when the lighting is a little better. The brown for the hair is a lot lighter than I would like, and much lighter than in the photo online. I haven't decided what I want to do, but I feel like I could use it for something else, so I might just try ordering a different color and see if it is closer to what I was looking for. I'm also going to message the seller to see about getting the swatch book.

Otherwise, the fabric is really nice! It's soft and smooth, though it's a lot less stretchy than I was expecting. I think I have enough to work with in the meantime, with sewing the applique to the face and sewing the body, and then acquiring acquiring and sewing the clothes.

The felt for applique arrived early! The light peach minky I got to be a skintone looks okay in daylight, but looks much pinker in orange/yellow light. The brown that was supposed to be for hair still looks much lighter than what I saw online. Will probably reorder on Friday. The red felt is for Thanatos's eyes, the blue is for Ed's. Wasn't sure which blues to use for Ed, but I think I'll go for the top two.

Current thought is to put an invisible zipper in the hairline... which is kinda morbid, lol

...as for project one, everything for the base dolls for Ed and Thanatos (and might have enough fabric left over for another...) has been ordered except for a couple items I can pick up at the craft store, and I know what I want to order to complete the project once I get paid on Friday.

... well, project two just got both easier and more complicated. The good news is I found a pattern so I no longer have to guess how to make most of the pieces I would have had to draft by hand. Only thing is, I've also found out that there's another variation that would work better as a Christmas gift (targeted completion date), but also want to be able to swap out for the original version... which means figuring out how to swap out hair.

So I'm trying to figure out what clothes I want to make for my Ed plushie--Got plans for satin pajamas using this fabric:

and more nebulous plans for a pigoen kigurumi onesie later once I get the fabric for it. I also want to make an outfit based on his actual look from the movie, which I have most of the patterns for. Only thing is, I have no idea what color his shirt is, or what color I should make it.

I can't for the life of me decide what color his shirt is because the scene is so dark. Is it grey? Blue? Something else?

Anyway, some color combos I've been considering but can't which to go with:

Do I think he in any of the itterations I write would wear the purple publicly? maybe for the ascot, but otherwise no, though I'd like to imagine in a universe where he is more confident, he would.

Hmmm, when I copy/pasted his picture into Paint and used the eye dropper tool, the shirt colors are:

395FAC for the solid part

and

94AFD6 for the pinstripes

Maybe not the most accurate way of doing it, but that's what I got. xD

Somewhat, thanks! The scene is pretty dark, colors are probably lighter than that, though I'm not sure how the actual color theory works. I don't expect the colors to be exact, and I'm okay with going with completely different colors, I just want something that matches the vibes and goes well together.
