'NikitaΒ never finished anything to the end. He practiced a little music, played scales, but when it got harder β he quit. He went to the 'Seeker' club to do drawing. He had talent and even took first place in a city competition. The teacher wanted to transfer him to an art school, but Nikita refused. He also did kickboxing. But there he had no success, he never won. The only time he took third place, but then he said it was undeserved, an unfair result. Later he stopped attending classes altogether. I once met him on the street at a time when he was supposed to be at training. Nikita never found anything creative or fulfilling, no passion. He never discovered any goals in life.'
β 'He told me that he considers himself shit, that he is a nobody, a scum, and does not intend to live long.'
This was said by his mom.
Nasra Yussef - 2009 Kuwait Wedding Fire
Location:Β Oyoun, Kuwait Date:Β 15 August 2009 Attack type:Β Arson, mass murder Deaths:Β 57 Injured:Β 90 Perpetrator:Β Nasra Yussef Mohammad al-Enezi
Nasra Yussef, 23 years old at the time and mother of two, married 36 years old Zayed Zafiri during her late teens. There is not much information about Nasra's life prior to the attack, but it is said she struggled with mental health, which was not given appropriate care given her cultural background. She was a housewife and lived comfortably with Zayed providing to the household, both their children had special needs and it was very distressing to Nasra, which dissatisfied her husband. Zayed started blaming his wife for his decision to start dating other people, as it is common for a man to have multiple wives under Kuwait law.
While her husband looked for a new bride, Nasra felt abandoned and believed he blamed her for the disability of their children, creating an unhealthy pattern of comparison and jealousy in her mind.
It all came to a boiling point when Zayed announced he had chosen his second bride.
The Attack
The ceremony was very formal and sent within tents, which had only one exit and did not meet fire safety regulations. As it is common in muslim countries, men and women celebrated in separated ambients. While people engaged in banter and enjoyed their time, Nasra was deeply hurt by the situation, thinking about vengeance.
Earlier that day, Nasra had placed gasoline around the tent as she had already made up her mind about her attack. With women and children inside the place, she poured the gasoline around the edges to drench the fabric and set fire on it, causing the tent to quickly be engulfed in flames.
Temperature went over 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit), the panic was immediate and people clogged the exit, having to climb over one another to get out. As a result to the chaos, it was impossible for all the guests to make it out alive. It took 3 minutes for the tent to burn down after the first spark.
So many of the bodies were burnt beyond recognition that they had to be identified from DNA and dental records.
The bride did not die during the fire, neither did Nasra's husband, but the bride's mother and sister both passed away.
Trial
Nasra was at first not a suspect, but soon due to her love for Zayed she was picked for interrogation and arrested on the following day. She confessed the crime and was charged with premediated murder, attempted murder, and arson. There were many issues in the case as she claimed to be pregnant, it is unknown if it was true or just a way to avoid death sentence. Nonetheless, two months later she said her husband had a jail officer forcing her to take abortion pills. No medical examination was ever done to verify the allegations of miscarriage.
Despite her defense team attempts, the court ultimately sentenced her to death penalty.
Nasra was executed on January 25 2017 by hanging.
Triple Barred Cross Earring
Dylanβs left ear was pierced, and he usually wore a βtriple crossβ earring. A friend of Dylanβs in 2002 said that it was homemade, but it has also been heard that it was made in Shop class at school or that it was specially ordered from a company. He drew the triple cross numerous times, repeating the same design over and over in his writings and doodles.
To Dylan, the triple barred crosssymbolically represented the Ever-lasting Contrast β signifying the eternal battle of good and bad within himself, humanity and the world. The upright cross, the traditional christian style crucifix, representing the good, the pure, the light β adjoined to the inverted cross β representing the mirror opposite β the bad, the tainted, the dark. The union of polar opposites, the intersection of creative force and destructive force, positive and negative, joined as one. Dylan, himself, is represented as the large slashed bar that βcutsβ across the middle of the two opposing crosses in constant internal conflict. The struggle of duality, of dark and light within himself, resonated deeply with Dylan.
I think Dylan was originally attracted by the two barred βCross of Lorraineβ. The symbol that was originally adopted by the Knights Templar and itβs form mirrors the teachings of Hermeticism and itβs occult axiom βAs Above, So Belowβ. Marilyn Manson started using the two-barred symbol for his band after those tragic events. I suspect that in the midst of a late night cutting session, Dylan discovered his own unique symbol from the original double barred cross. He cut a slash down the midsection of the double cross. You can see where he says βcut hereβ in his journal drawings and refers to the midsection as βmeβ. The symbol that Dylan arrived at on his own is actually known as a Salemβs Cross. I believe the earring was custom made to his exact specifications. It was the only earring he ever wore and religiously. It was so special to his being that he made sure to remove the earring, along with other personal items of significance, placing them in a small pile, before committing su*cide.
