Alternative heterosexual flag coined for non-cis heteros! ♡
Q: Definition: This flag is to represent heterosexual people that are not cisgender— for any and everybody identifying with any gender identity that isnt their birth gender (demigenders included), and identify as heterosexual/straight. ♡
Q: Why? - Honestly, I coined this flag for a friend. One of my very close friends, Aca, is transgender + identifies as straight, but shes always felt uncomfortable using the 'typical'(?) straight flag because of numerous reasons. (Not going to list them for her privacy. ♡) Recently her boyfriend reached out to me about this because he and his sister also relate to Aca's feelings about it as he & his sister aren't cis heteros either— he was wondering if I could coin a flag for non-cis heteros because I've coined flags + gender terms before. Ofcourse I said I would gladly do so to help them feel comfortable and secure in their identity, and have a way to represent said identify themselves that made them feel good and fully supported. ♡
Q: Why this design? - Aca and her boyfriend felt as if the black & white was still important to the flag, but also wanted blue + pink like the other alternative flags for heterosexuality. The hetero symbol was a request from Emily (boyfriends sister), because she didnt want it to be accidently mixed up with other flags/identies. It is purple to represent the gender identity of the person the flag is representing.
Q: Why purple? Why not green? or yellow? Both of those are also used to identify non-cis genders. - Although yellow was my first idea, I quickly realized that it looks very close to the pansexual flag, and didnt want it to be mistaken as a flag to do with any other identities, like Emily said. As for why its not green, Aca doesnt like the color green hehe /hj... no but seriously though, purple is more widely seen as not male / female, but still not seen specifically as either nonbinary / bigender (if that makes sense) and green doesn't really represent that (as much as purple) in my opinion. ♡
Q: Can I remove the symbol? / Why remove the symbol? - Ofcourse! I made an alternate flag for it without the symbol just incase for those that want to use the flag but also cannot use it comfortably with the symbol, ie: highly unsupportive parents - could pass as a fandom/character flag, unsupportive religious household/neighborhood - same reason, etc. The purple gender symbol can easily give it away as a queer flag/identity and this flag was specifically coined to be able to comfortably represent said identity without having to repress it under a label youre uncomfortable with, but still allowing you to do it safely. ♡ The flag still has the same meaning with or without the symbol.
>> Please note!! I've only ever coined 3 or 4 flags before and they were all pronouns I used, so please let me know if this is wrong to do for any reason. 😓😓 I am also neither cis or hetero, I am nonbinary + bi/omnisexual (still questioning), so if anything here is offensive please please please educate me on that. I am -18 and I do not know everything. I am simply coining a flag to help my friends feel comfortable in how they identify themselves. ♡ (Also omg 2nd time posting on tumblr, first time actually posting a flag for not just funsies +/or to represent my pronouns I'm so scared but excited aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!)
