Nijiura Maids

The Nijiura Maids are a series of characters derived from Futaba, a Japanese imageboard created in 2001. The Nijiura Boards for that website are Futaba's equivalent of 4chans' /b/. The Nijiura boards serve as the origin for the Nijiura Maids. All the maids have names that are puns, tying into their traits and characteristics (Medoi-San, medoi in Japanese meaning bothersome. Yakui-San, Yaku meaning drugs). The chain was started after an anonymous user posted an image of Medoi, wishing to have his own personal maid. This lead into an onslaught of a diverse cast of maid characters.

Hey folks, I'll be provided where I get my information and images of each maid I come across, so you can go on your own journey of discovery for them! This will make it easier for us as a community to gather even more details on the maids, as well as helping archive them so they won't be lost to the past.

Fumei-San

The Unclear Maid

The youngest sibling of Mugoi-San and Shiro-San.

Fumei-San's gender is unknown. It is assumed that they are a man, due to their short hair and somewhat aggressive temper, but that is stereotype.

Due to their tendency to cross-dress between different gendered clothes, it is difficult to discern their gender.

They are the tallest of their sisters, and looks very alike to Shiro-San with her braids cut off.

Mugoi-San

Not A Maid

Mugoi-San is the younger sister of Shiro-San, and the older sister of Fumei-San.

She is an ordinary middle school student, but is always bombarded with requests to become a maid. But she would much rather work towards trades and finance.

Another major factor in her consideration of becoming a maid is recognizing her older sister's experiences as a maid. She would usually murmur to herself, "That's horrible..."

She is one of the few ordinary people in the Nijiura Maids character line-up.

Shinrai-San

The Trusting Maid A maid who gives a lot of trust, putting all of her faith in people. She believes her employers completely and interprets all their actions positively, even if proven on the contrary.

In reality, though, this maid is unable to do anything herself. Even if she tries, she will fail at whatever task she attempts. Her trusting smile is (either intentionally, unintentionally, or learned) used as a weapon to evoke a sense of guilt in the person who asks her to do a task.

During her years at Megaku, she would be feared due to her sparkling gaze. The expectancy in her eyes was so potent, that anybody who looked at her would vomit out of guilt.

It is uncertain if her act is purposeful or not, or if she is just insecure or naïve.

She was childhood friends with Utagai-san, but Utagai-San resents Shinrai-San for treating her badly (it is unclear what Shinray-San has done, possibly just making her feel bad for being suspicious). Despite this, they still occasionally hang out.

Kanchigai-San

The Misunderstanding Maid

She is a very confused and gullible individual. When she misunderstands something trivial, she feels confused and enters an embarrassed agony.

A lot of what she doesn't understand is humorous. Whenever she gets caught up in the moment, she occasionally blurts out in confidence something she misunderstood, but it almost always comes out a little off-topic.

The only person she can fully understand is Shinrai-San, able to interpret her true feelings.

Darii-San

The Lazy Maid

She is a Sukeban-like (GIRL BOSS aka delinquent girl) with a habit to say "Darii" ("Whatever"). Her tone of voice is always bored and her expression is always one out of spite or annoyance. She has a tendency to laze around and insult people while smoking.

She is the older sister of Medoi-San. It is said that due to her poor behavior, she graduated Megaku much later than her sisters. Though it's uncertain if she dropped out or not.

Even though she complains often, she does her jobs, but still occasionally slacks off by taking naps around the house or not finishing the job correctly.

It is said that she has a kind-hearted side, occasionally doing small good deeds when she thinks nobody is watching.

She used to smoke, but she quit, resorting to using candy cigarettes and lollipops. (But that's a lie. She still very well smokes.)

Yamashii-San

The Guilty Maid Yamashii always acts guilty, looking away, hiding objects behind her back, and appearing generally paranoid. No matter what she's doing, she does it in a sneaky and attempting subtlety, no matter how mundane the action is. She is generally seen as untrustworthy.

Most of the time, her secrets aren't innocuous, but her very suspicious attitude warrants concerns by people who don't know her. Due to this, she is sometimes referred to as Nayami-San (Worrisome/Problem)

Everybody around her has a tendency to barge into whatever action she's doing, causing her to appear more anxious.

Utagai-San is extremely fond of Yamashii-San, frequently barging into her home when she tries to spend time alone. Yamashii-San used to suppress her irritation by punching furniture, but has recently started using force to remove her.

Utagai-San

The Paranoid Maid

She is always suspicious of others. She is extremely antsy and impossible to interact with. Due to her extreme paranoia, she has a tendency to stab people near her vicinity out of shock and uncertainty.

She doesn't trust commercial products, or anything for that matter. She is extremely self-sufficient, making her own daily necessities and harvesting her own food. She partakes in fishing as well quite frequently.

She is very knowledgeable in machinery assembling and dissembling, able to do it to any machinery by herself. Though she is prone to failure in assembling, and often has to send it to a repair center (begrudgingly, due to it being public services).

Tildei-San ( ~I-San)

The Tilde Maid

She is the most mysterious maid. Because there is no way to describe her (it?) meaningfully. She appeared out of no where and does her duty as a maid.

She serves food everyday, and follows a very structural format to her cooking, seperated by panels (like a comic). In the "first panel", she presents the ingredients. In the "second panel" and "third panel" she cooks said ingredients in a pan, pot, stew, or whatever the dish asks of her. In the "last panel", she throws the dish down stating "Meshiawase" (eat up) / "Bon Apetit" / "Enjoy Your Meal".

Except....

Everything she serves is inedible. On the off chance she does serve something edible, she is shocked when the customer eats it.

There was a SNT (Saturday Night Tissue Maid) thread on Futaba, taking place on saturday nights and sunday nights. It focuses on these three characters, who were included due to their headdresses looking like tissues.(edited)

Kurai-San

The Gloomy Maid

Kurai-San has a very gloomy and nihilistic view on life. She carries around a notebook that she uses to record all her observations to pass the time.

Due to her always keeping her head in her notebook, people tend to think of her as introverted and quiet, and are surprised when she speaks.

She is extremely traumatized by birds, after watching the movie, "The Birds" during her childhood. Her strength against birds is so powerful, that she's able to capture Yabai-san, only getting a nosebleed from her effects.

Despite her demeanor, she has a soft spot for dogs.

She has a giant crush on Modoi, but is timid whenever she is around her.

Nemui-San

The Sleepy Maid

Nemui-San is always sleepy, and has a tendency to fall asleep in between doing an action. She carries a pillow around with her everywhere in case she accidentally falls asleep.

Originally, she was incapable of sleeping at all, suffering from narcolepsy. Though, the naps she took didn't alleviate her tiredness. It is unknown what solved her condition, allowing her to sleep once more. She always experiences drowsiness, no matter how much sleep she obtains.

While sleeping, she is completely invincible, and will not wake up no matter the inflictions brought upon her. Though, it seems she's very vulnerable to noise during this state.

If anyone were to disturb her sleep or stay up at night, she would have the ability to put everybody around her to sleep.

She has the ability to talk in her sleep, participating in conversation and formulating full responses as if she were awake.

She would frequently miss the SNT meetups, because she would oversleep and would not be able to participate.

Yowai-San

The Frail Maid

Yowai-San is a very hard worker and tries to be as useful as possible, but very frequently collapses due to her iron deficiency (or blood loss). Despite her extreme physical weakness, though, she is blessed by the King Stone, making her incapable of death until she reaches old age.

She is very insecure about her appearance and attractiveness, despite her desire to be in a physical relationship. She is concerned that if she were to participate in anything erotic, she will die. If you attempt to seduce her, though, she will unintentionally emit a Rider Kick.

Soi-San, Shosai-San, Kyusai-San

The Consensus Maid, The Detail Maid, The Salvation Maid

This is a collection of maids who seek to interpret "information" (quotes included for lines of subjectivity on this term for the readers interpretation [information referring to the nijiura maids themselves, these characters representing the user base during the era of Futaba ]), further creating and spreading said "information" each in their own manners.

Soi-San seeks to crush minority opinion, referring to her own opinions as higher standard due to having "proper secondary sourcing". She will argue and defend her opinions on given "information", expressing extreme determination and rage, attempting to convince everybody that she is right (albeit with tremendous hostility). When banned, though, she becomes quiet and adopts a calmer tone, once again becoming a normal maid.

"The consensus! My opinion is the consensus!"

Shosai-San morphologically copies "information", and desperately seeks details and ideas. When details aren't available, she will attempt to interpret the "information" given to her down to it's design. Usually, her interpretations of "information" have people adopt her meaning towards the object being analyzed and deciphered. Though, her desperation puts people off and her obsession tends to blind her common understanding of the products she analyzes. She had a big fight with Soi-San, but eventually was defeated by her and reconciled.

Kyusai-San is the leader of the "0-less Rescue Committee" (A committee dedicated to rescuing and gathering "information" and putting them into a catalog), and has rescued many threads of "information" from 0-less status. She is a very hard worker, but is often hindered by those who lazily incorporate information. She is recognized as the go-to person for problems with understanding "information", especially about particular individuals, such as the other maids.

Fancy-San

The Fancy Maid

An emotionally unstable, obsessive (Menhera) junior high student who is Itai-San's rival. She has a keen obsession with knives and Itai-San.

She follows Itai-San everywhere, believing her to be her soulmate from a previous reincarnation, and uses her immense obsessive power to eliminate anyone who gets in her way to get close with Itai-San.

She had many different employers as a maid, but nobody wants to discuss what happened to them, so information on their whereabouts and well-being are unknown.

When her eyes turn red, she will most definitely attack, just like when a cat's eyes dilate.

After she became obsessed with Itai-San, her shadow had disappeared. Somehow she forced herself to switch schools and had become Itai-San's classmate.

Itai-San

The Cringe Maid

Itai-San is a middle school student who loves dark magic. She says she's 100,000 years old, but she's actually 14.

She is extremely childish (No shock there), and has chuunibyou-like expressionisms (term typically used to describe early teens who have grandiose delusions, who desperately want to stand out, and who have convinced themselves that they have hidden knowledge or secret powers). She often takes up the role of the protagonist, becoming a narrator of her own life or the actions of others around her. She does whatever seems the most fun at the moment, or what will cause the biggest scene that will get her the most attention.

But despite her interactions with the strange incidents in Nijiura Town, among gods, demons, monsters, robots, and other supernatural beings, she often faints and does not remember any of them actually happening to her. This makes her believe that a lot of the events in the town were a part of her vibrant imagination.

Otherwise, she is very oblivious to the strange happenings around her especially with particular individuals she interacts with. (She would over-rationalize her situations. For example, 3M would just be a very tall lady to her.)

She attends Megaku (The school for the maids) as a junior high student, and is a central figure within her school due to her expressionate behavior. She tends to study dark history and black magic, in order to practice her skillsets.

She isn't a very good maid due to her young age and ignorance in housekeeping, but she is very good at arts and crafts. She enjoys creating and decorating replica weaponry.

She carries around a dark history notebook that she uses to recite her spells. Though, it only does menial things such as making somebody's stomach hurt.

She is mortal enemies with Fanshii-San (Fancy-San), who stalks her, thinking Itai to be a soulmate from a previous life. Whenever they meet, they always battle.

Itai is often treated like a younger sister by everybody in Nijiura Town.

She has authentic white hair due to her Germanic heritage from her grandmother, but her heterochromatic eyes are done by contact lenses.

Dogi-San

The Robot Dog Maid

Dogi-San is a maid based on a police robot dog. She has a very naïve and chipper personality, quick to emotion. She is incredibly noisy and reactive. She has the tendency to act in many dog-like mannerisms.

She holds a sentiment of curiosity, but also a sick sense of masochism as well. She responds very well to authority and punishment, seeming to enjoy the power dynamic and being abused.

Her hobbies consist of collecting socks, and eating sweets.

She has excellent balance, and doesn't lose her ability to stand even when pushed and kicked.

Hawai-San

The Hawaiian Maid

Hawai-San is a very dark and nihilistic maid despite her upbeat appearance and colorful clothing. She always wears a disgusted, disappointed, or dissatisfied face.

She has multiple personalities, and tends to cover up her solemn and gloomy demeanor with a very masked image of excitability.

Hawai-San is the caretaker of the maid graveyard, who takes care of the many corpses of the forgotten maids. It is stated that she is a necrophiliac...

She loves candy, and her favorite drink is the Blue Hawaii cocktail.

She admires Jesse Mavia, and has learned to recreate his fighting moves.

The other maids don't recognize her...

Hikki-San, Pishii-San, Gokii-San

The Hikikomori Maid, PC Maid, and Cockroach Maid

Hikki-San is a severe internet gamer with extreme social anxiety. She is constantly in front of her computer (Pishii-San), procuring her daily necessities by ordering them online by mail.

Her room is so repulsive and such a mess, it is considered a biohazard. Hikki-San is also considered a bioweapon, requiring permission from the government to leave her room.

She is managed by the Sewerage Bureau within the town she resides in, where they maintain her house under heavy regulation.

While many expert cleaners and people visiting from the World Health Organization tried to research and study her (and attempt to give her a bath, but failed due to her vigilance), they have all come to face an early retirement due to the excessive amounts of toxicity Hikki-San emits.

Due to the toxicity of her environment, it became radioactive. This radioactivity created two maids, being Pishii-San and Gokki-San.

Pishii-San is Hikki-San's water-cooled PC. Originally, she was an ordinary PC, but due to how radioactive Hikki-San is, her presence forcefully evolved the computer to become self-conscious and alive, becoming humanoid. Pishii-San is very logical and straightforward, very often using common sense.

But since she is a computer, if any wires get cut or the house has a power outage, she will be unable to function and will deactivate until the power returns.

Pishii-San handles all the finances and mail-order sales for Hikki-San in order to provide for her.

Gokki-San was an ordinary cockroach in Hikki-San's room who eventually mutated into a humanoid maid.

She is very upbeat and practical, and loves to get work done. She is occasionally found cleaning small parts of Hikki-San's room, including her desk.

Gokii-San also has an obsession with Hikki-San, devoting her life and existence to serving her.(edited)

She usually eats the leftovers of Hikki-San's dishes. She lives inside her walls and has a strict routine and schedule to follow when cleaning.
