I Screwed Up...

Bolt: Do you think we're gonna win?

Me: Yeah. But it'll take a fight. We got stong people in each department. If we had more like Jess, we'd win it hands down. I trust Jess. She's proved she's for the union 100%.

I ran into Jess at the VFW.  I broke into a huge smile when I saw her.  I couldn't help it.  I made a beeline for her and grabbed her hand.  It felt good to reconnect.

Jess Goldberg called me up, and I finally got to give her that apology I’ve needed to give her for years. We met up and had a long talk, catching up on everything we’ve been up to. She looks less scared, but more hurt. She’s such a fighter – she told me that she spoke out at a rally today. Wanted to know if I think it’s possible to change the world. I do, and I told her so – conditions are going to make it impossible for us not to at some point.

I had to offer her to work with me as an organizer – she’s so hungry and ready to do battle. She has so  much power, and she could really get people to stand with her. I gave her Labor’s Untold Story and we’re going to sit down to dinner and talk this all over.

She told me that she wants to understand about change instead of just being at the mercy of it. I really think she’s going to make a difference in the world.
