Once again, my phone said oops, something went wrong so I'm posting this again.
Giancarlo Stanton hit his 6th homer of the year to give the Yankees the lead, 3-2. It's his 435th of his career. I was singing and chanting for him to hit a home run, and he did!! I love Giancarlo!! ❤️
LET'S GO, YANKEES!!!!!
Way to go, Big G!!! My man!! 😁😍

Somehow I feel like this locker room isn't going to be available to us any longer, what with the fresh paint and actually being cleaned and everything.
But at least we had our own locker room tonight, we didn't have any pucks for about two thirds of our warmup time, but we didn't have to share the locker room.
And maybe I could blame the first, early goal against us on the shorter warmup than usual, otherwise it was a pretty horrid mistake on my part. But the team played alright overall and other than that one weak goal the first period was pretty even. Probably our best offensive player was out and the sub for him did not look like an even skill level replacement at all but we managed to stay in the game anyway and I played better after the one mistake.
In the second period I felt the play stayed about even, we got a couple goals off simple hard work and hustle getting to rebounds and I made some solid stops but didn't have to be spectacular.
The third period seemed to be controlled by the other team a bit more. I had two clear breakaways against me, but I was able to stop them and we held that narrow lead going into the last few minutes. They pulled their goalie and then my defenseman, who is skilled but often in position to be in the way of me seeing things, screened me on a shot so I saw it late and made the save but gave up a rebound to one of the three uncovered guys they had right in front. There was less than a minute left in the game at that point.
That meant overtime, three on three. We don't have the skill level of the pros so instead of more chances it often feels like the less players means less scoring opportunities, and I can't remember either side having any dangerous chances. So we went to a shootout.
I did well in the shootout I thought. I let one in at an annoying point where we would have won if I saved it. But I made two stops before that and two more after until we were able to score a second goal to get the shootout victory. It was nice to get the win, even though we were frustratingly close to doing it in regulation earlier.
But I felt I played well overall, certainly better than the ref who didn't call the play dead when I had the puck frozen and then randomly and completely incorrectly called a delay of game penalty on my defender on the play. It made no sense and was completely the wrong call. Luckily we killed the power play and it didn't have a major effect on the game result.
And then I got news that I don't have to get up crazy early in the morning like I thought I was going to have to, so that was awesome.
