Happy 60th Birthday Stone Gossard
I'd like you all to wish Happy Birthday to this cutie. You may not know or care about him and that's fine but he means an awful lot to me and he's the reason I rejoined Tumblr 5 years ago so he's really the one who should be thanked for this blog because it likely wouldn't be here if not for him.

Eddie Vedder + Pearl Jam perform at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco on June 24, 1995
Suffering from a debilitating case of food poisoning caused by a room service tuna sandwich, Eddie Vedder makes it through only seven songs before telling the fifty-thousand-strong crowd he cannot perform any further. "This has been probably the worst set of twenty-four hours I've ever had," he says. "Lucky for you, I think Neil Young's here, so he's going to take over for a bit." Young does indeed emerge with a low-key "How ya doin'?" and proceeds to play fourteen songs backed by Pearl Jam, although the audience is less than pleased with the turn of events. At the start of the first encore, Jeff Ament is booed when he announces that Vedder will not be returning.
Eric Johnson: Eddie called me at six in the morning and said he wanted to go to the hospital. I went up to his room and got him, and I noticed a tuna sandwich with one bite taken out of it. He looked like death. I took him to the emergency room in a cab, and they did two full IV bags on him. I think we even checked ourselves out. When I showed up at the venue with Eddie, he was in the back of a town car. His knees were on the floor and he was grabbing the leather seat with his hands so hard that he was actually creasing the leather. It was insane. Neil didn't know anything about this. He showed up with some friends on Harleys, planning to do a song or two. It was so casual. I was already a little afraid of the crowd at the show because it was massive. It seemed a little volatile to me. When Neil realized what was going on, he came out and just wore them down. — PJ 20
After "Not For You" an exhausted Eddie says, "I'd like to talk to you all from my heart for a second... The worst 24 hours I just ever had. I had got a really bad stomach flu last night, like 3 in the morning, and I went to the emergency room this morning... I was puking and shiting and I'm just all fucked up. So I think that might be it for me for a while... Lucky for you... I think Neil Young is here so he's gonna take over for a bit... Alright? I come back again this summer... OK?" — PJ Concert Chronology
