KAHIDLAW, a group that is filled with various people with different traits. We might have started as strangers, but we have proved that no matter what platform, we were able to share our ideas and make bonds with each other. As we end the second semester, each of us has a fair share of experiences and realizations, but the most prevailing idea is that we were resilient, and in that process, we have matured and developed.
On the first day of our class virtual community engagement was filled with various emotions. Some of us felt comfortable, awkward, or caught up in between because this was the first time for us to experience it online, and we did not know what to expect. Before the start of the engagement, there were some miscommunications between the two parties that caused a delay in the planned schedule. Regardless, we were able to devise a solution to fix the problem at hand. In this scenario, we realize that there will always be no perfect situation; instead, there will always be a manageable one. We must be able to work with what we have and accept those we cannot do. It is in these realizations that we will be able to be sensible on the way we perceive things and be pragmatic enough on our actions. One value that has been a significant factor in our engagement's success is patience. Despite the many challenges we had encountered and the many funny scenarios that happened before, during, and after the meeting, through the cooperation of the whole class, we were able to overcome it. In the end, it was a new gain experience for both parties.
This session tested our patience and our ability to weigh choices without being bias with one another. It enabled us to have a peaceful discourse and agreement; hence, it eased some of our awkwardness and tension from the long break of not communicating with each other. Overall, we were able to brainstorm ideas and have common ground upon choosing.
Good communication is a fundamental tenet essential to attain a healthy discourse with one another, for it enables improved collaboration, develops camaraderie, and promotes fairness. Teamwork and communication go hand in hand, for it is in the partnership of the two facets that ideas from various people will be treated with respect even though not all agree to the particular concept. In this neutrality, people adjust their ideas with one another to meet in the middle, wherein all sides agree on a specific aspect. In this way, it is assured that a peaceful consensus is achieved.
Planting a tree for a cause fundraising is an event that influences and inspires the people to support a project's goals. At the same time, the planted trees are labeled by their surname. The purpose of this entitlement is to serve as a legacy for future generations. Every branch that protrudes to the sky is equivalent to the forebearer's efforts and memories. Hence, it can be said that it is a historical tree that is continuously being nurtured. Unlike other tree planting events, it is not the typical one-sided output, for it enables the two sides to grow dependently.
In a world covered with black and white, there is a constant struggle between justice and injustice to the point that other shades are not given a chance to stand out and make a difference. It is in this greedy and chaotic circumstances that people tend to forget their true nature. It is not easy to do something without cost. The concept of volunteering stresses on giving and not counting the cost. It is an action deeply rooted in the heart of full compassion wherein there is that urge to be the person to do the work for others who cannot and have that will to finish the task for the betterment of everyone. Amidst the ugly society and system we may have, people's act of volunteering makes a real difference. The people who cannot work, the people who cannot speak, the people who cannot help, the jobs and tasks that cannot be done are filled in by the people who volunteer themselves, knowing that there is a great responsibility alongside it.
Despite how difficult it might get, thinking of how a simple act can make a huge difference for everyone just adds color to the very dull and gloomy world today. A quote from Mark Twain, which says, "Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see," indeed proves that the simple act of volunteering can be the start of something fruitful for everyone, most especially for the ones who really need it.
Pag-atiman is an interactive project focusing on imparting the people the importance of environmental conservation through a workshop and a tree planting activity called Pagsagop. In the seminar, it will dwell more on educating the people the significance of the environment at a higher level wherein all macro levels are interconnected, and all shall be given equal importance. Furthermore, it will also tackle the proper ways of taking care of plants, which is essential for the next activity. After the seminar, the next activity would be Pagsagop, wherein each of the attendees will be assigned and handed a seedling (endemic to the location) to foster and care for seven weeks. These two activities will be accomplished in nine weeks. This long duration aims to make the attendees grow and develop at the same time with their assigned seedlings.

With the rise of the technological age, some people seldomly care and give effort about the happenings around them, for they have been preoccupied with their social life to the point that they rarely appreciate the importance of the environment. Project Pag-atiman aims to break the chains of ignorance and open the eyes of the people about the significance of environmental conservation. Unlike other projects before, this is two-sided such that both facets will progress at the same time.
Pag-Atiman, is an interactive project which will take place for nine weeks; it will start with a workshop that will discuss the significance of environmental conversation. This symposium will be prepared one week ahead; this will include creating certificates, tokens, and workshop materials. Following this, an activity called Pagsagop, which is a tree planting activity, will be held. Prior to this, the instructions and guidelines have already been discussed during the symposium. In this activity, the participants will be using the knowledge which they have acquired during the symposium. The participants will foster and care for their seedlings for seven weeks before planting them, which will be considered their long-lasting mark for the environment. After this, the participants will then take the initiative to implement proper care and maintenance for their seedlings with the guidance from the proponents.
The part of the film that spoke to us the most is the part wherein some politicians do not believe that climate change exists. It is disturbing that those who are in power reject the reality, the mere fact that climate change is real and it is occurring and effecting all lives on the planet. Just because these politicians receive financial benefits from the exploitation of natural resources and gains from the loss of mother nature, they readily spurn the idea of saving the planet by stopping all these actions that cause climate change. It is saddening that there are still people who continue to believe that an apparent global crisis supported by scientific evidence is a hoax. Suppose only all people in the entire world would be sensible enough to listen to the facts, look around, and see how worse the situation got because of the actions made for money and greed. In that case, we might have already solved or came up with a solution to climate change and global warming.
The changes that happened on the planet are not irreversible, but surely, there are things we can do so that it will not worsen. It might take a very long time, but progress is still progress, even if that means that we take little steps at a time.
Some people around the world are not aware of the adverse effects of abusing and neglecting the environment. Moreover, there are still those who choose not to tackle this issue, and not being part of the effort to change the environmental problems we all face. As students in our chosen fields, we work to bring these environmental issues into the light. Our chosen fields contribute to honing us to be involved and knowledgeable about our surroundings. They also play a significant role in developing ourselves, a spiritual connection, and positive feelings toward the environment. As we go to school, we learn different methods and ways to conserve and preserve the environment. We use our knowledge about the environment in identifying and defining ecological problems. Our bright minds can work in full capacity to change the world for the better in our current age and status.

The emergence of terrorism around the globe has dramatically devastated all the facets in every country, causing a widespread marginalization, poverty, and injustice. Furthermore, some people consciously ride the circumstances of others for their benefit without any thoughts or whatsoever on its effects on others. However, there is also another aspect that all of us rarely ponder about and give effort, which is the environment. Oftentimes few people label devastations in the environment as a form of collateral damage, not realizing that all facets are affected and should be given equal effort and development. One probable reason for this ignorance is that people tend to avoid problems as to why being consciously unaware is their coping mechanism not to face the problem at hand. Although this mechanism is only feasible for short periods because problems will always bounce back to us, no matter how much we avoid it. Hence, there must be harmony between humans and the Earth because the environment has sustained us since the dawn of men. It is now our time to give back what we have received and pay it forward.

Our team's engagement as a citizen of the Philippines stands, and opinions may vary on every member. Each of us has different ways of engaging ourselves as good citizens of society. Perhaps some might have a hard time finding a way to be an active citizen due to less exposure and influence. Some might be doing it with ease and comfortably probably because their ways of being an engaged citizen ask simple actions only. At the same time, others would find it effortless because of the influence of their environment and family. Take, for example, one primary way of engaging oneself as a good citizen is by merely being responsible for his/her actions and words. A few might find it challenging to be responsible for their actions or with the words they are saying. On the other hand, some might find this way straightforward, for it only takes a little effort to be sensible and sensitive.
Setting new goals is feasible as well if one wants to be more engaged as a citizen. One can start with simple ways like those mentioned above, then set a goal of achieving a more substantial step on becoming a more engaged Filipino citizen. That may include being conscious about the politics and the government and having your own firm opinion about it as well.
Despite our diverse perspective, all of us share something in common, and we believe that we are setting new goals to become part of the nation's affairs. We aim to use our rights and privileges as citizens of the country by registering as voters and using it as a stepping stone in engaging and becoming part of nation-building for the present and future generations.
Working with our team for these past sessions was quite a challenge since miscommunication can be experienced due to this new platform of learning. There has not been a full range of discourse, including non-verbal cues and body language. Thus, we understand that trust and patience are a fundamental structure in the team. An absence of these two can considerably separate a group since it misses productivity and closes down communication. As this platform becomes considerably perplexing, working with the team becomes a struggle. However, If we center around what teamwork looks like and being self-aware of our tasks, we can start to address the difficulties of trust, closeness, and mindfulness in the group, which begins with recognizing the significance of the individual and how they feel associated with the group activities.

Is there such a thing as being ideal? Many have said that an ideal person only exists in one’s imagination, someone who looks perfect but is far from reality. But as time passes, being ideal is not defined as someone perfect but someone who can satisfy one’s conception of a specific role. The image of an ideal Ateneo Civil Welfare Training Service student is more than how they should appear if anything it should be how they act. You can look friendly but are you truly helpful? You can look prim and proper but are you truly kind? An ideal Ateneo CWTS student is responsible, one who doesn’t need to be told on what they need to do but someone who quickly acts. Secondly, an ideal Atenean CWTS student can put their knowledge on top of their head, one who readily shares what they know to those who need them the most. Thirdly, an ideal Atenean CWTS student cares, one who becomes a man and woman for others, for their environment, and their country. Possessing at least three of these characteristics, one can already be called an ideal Atenean CWTS student such then this aids them in further developing their nationalism by engaging various community service and socio-civic activities with continued discipline and hard work.
As we set about in this new expedition of environmental preservation, our group aims to promote and address the pressing environmental issues today. At the same time, we would identify and resolve socio-environmental problems that people encounter every day. Eventually, as we gain more knowledge and experience as students, we would be able to envision ourselves as a Sui Generis Leader who is sensible for truth and not just to cater to the existing circumstances but to be leaders for the common good. At the end of all of this, we would be able to perceive ourselves as leaders who strive, influence, and educate and become advocates for environmental justice and stability.

Kahidlaw
Our group is filled with various people who have a single goal to preserve and sustain the environment. We chose Kahidlaw as our name, for it signifies a deep yearning for this never-ending issue with environmental conservation. We hope that this movement could instill the hearts of the people to cherish our nature and recognize the importance of this matter.
