Check out this danger close lightning strike I captured on the rear chase vehicle camera! The thunder after the strike shook the whole vehicle, and for a split second, the lightning bolt turned the entire area into a fully lit daytime scene!

Under the Belly of the Storm, Bolivar, MO 4/3/26
As we continue south in the area of Bolivar, Missouri, lightning continues to light up the sky and gives us a sneak peek of the storm clouds. This is just the calm before the real "storm" where multiple tornado warnings are issued later on in the night.
Angry Storm Tries to Hide North of Springfield, MO 4/3/26
We are camped out on the north side of Springfield, Missouri, near MO-13 and I-44. This storm tries to hide as it approaches heading from west to east. You can see a small section in the clouds lowering from the main body of the storm. These types of clouds are commonly misinterpreted as funnel clouds. Remember, funnel clouds have rotation where these clouds don't show any signs of rotation.

As we travel south through the outskirts of Osceola, Missouri, we capture the shape of the storm as it is revealed by the lightning flashes. You wouldn't know it, but this system will later be the bearer of multiple tornado warnings.

Our mission is to provide an immersive experience that blends high-impact education with captivating entertainment, bringing the raw power of nature directly to our community while fostering a culture of preparedness.
What We Do:

Weather Awareness and Education: We aim to turn fear into preparedness. By educating the public on severe weather phenomena, we break down complex meteorological concepts into understandable, actionable information.
Advanced Hazard Warning: We act as "eyes on the sky," providing real-time, ground-truth visual data to local meteorologists and emergency management teams, directly assisting with the issuance of earlier, more accurate severe weather warnings.
Our Commitment Through our efforts, Storm Chase KC promotes a "Weather Ready" mindset. We turn the awe-inspiring spectacle of severe weather into a crucial opportunity for community resilience, ensuring residents are aware, informed, and safe when severe hazards threaten the communities we serve.
